[Suggestion] Outfit wars reward idea

I was reading the description of certain directive weapons for some reason, and some have interesting stories of being used by a squad of elite infils, or medics or whatever.

I was thinking, what if the player who contributed the most to the outfit wars' winning outfit would get to design his weapon for his whole outfit to get? What I mean by this is he tells the devs the configuration of his favorite weapon, and they treat it like a directive weapon.

For example, if the guy is using soft point laser and suppressor on his anchor, the devs would create an anchor with those attachments built-in, removing the downsides (laser of the laser sight, damage and velocity dropoff of softpoint. Then the devs would slap the player's favorite camo and give that shiny look to it, and then award it to all the outfit members who won (or maybe even the whole faction...?).

I think that would be an interesting way to reward players who are contributing a lot to help their outfit win.

Another idea would be to have an outfit wide camo. Much like the outfit decal, players would pay 400 certs or something to unlock their outfit's camo. This would help make outfits look more distinct, and help easily identify different groups. I have seen an outfit call the first order have a whole squad of people who looked identical. Same camo, helmets, armor. It was really interesting; they really looked like clones. At first I thought I was killing the same guy,: I would kill one, turn around and kill another exactly the same, turn around, two more. It was really cool.

I was wondering maybe there could be a way to give outfit-wide camo/armor/helmets determined by the outfit leader(s), to help larger outfits establish a uniform.

Whoa whoa whoa, adding only the good stuff but none of the negatives of the attachments? You have any idea how OP that would be? It would be disgustingly good. What after they go into their second outfit war equipped with items objectively better than anything their opposing teams would have? Snowball effect ahoy... It would be horribly unbalanced, definite no to this suggestion. Per my understanding current directive weapons aren't like this, sometimes even worse than what you can get with certs. They're more status symbols than anything. Except Betelgeuse, that thing seems to be the best of the best and everybody uses it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know for sure.

I like the camo idea, but it would probably be bad for the game if people bought less camos. I want to see PS2 for years to come, someone needs to feed the starving artists :p

Well, you're wrong. If you take directive pistols for example, they get a suppressor without losing bullet velocity. The butcher and Betelgeuse have soft point without the negatives. They don't really make much of a difference, since they are just add-ons to the default weapons.

The directive weapons don't really feel like rewards in most cases, and you're right, some are horrible (trackshot). The battlegoose isn't anything outstanding, it's just built off the already very good orion. It's downside is it's tiny mag and nearly 6 seconds of cooldown if you overheat it, which prevents you from being aggressive. I personally prefer the butcher, where I'm able to carve out a good dozen people at once before reloading, something I couldn't do with the goose.

We've all fought with and against directive weapons, does it really feel unfair? They're very minor tweaks that have little impact on the game. This is normal, because if these tweaks did provide massive advantages, people would complain about it. I was thinking that helping players who are important to their outfit by rewarding them with a weapon that has their name in the description would be a cool way to gain status on the server.

As for the camos, maybe just give a discount on the outfit selected camo? Not sure, I don't think that the game would lose a lot of revenue on this, since they award camos during alerts and directives anyways.

I stand corrected! Thank you for the reality check. I just read the blurbs on the wiki with them not having attachment slots and went with that, suppose it's outdated info in there. Came back from a long long hiatus from a time before these were a thing so I don't have any myself... yet

Nevertheless I still abhor the idea of handing out these guns en masse to outfit members, or were you thinking of selling them with certs/DBC? It still sounds a bit overpowered if you give the best of the best weapons out like that. In addition how would you see this going in the long run? There'd be so many outfit weapons as well as directive weapons to blot out regular offerings. Especially in the case of these if I understood correctly they are the regular weapon, fully kitted out, with zero drawbacks compared to directives which appear to have a single attachment or two with no drawbacks (if I understood correctly). I don't know, sounds messy to me. I also don't really enjoy the thought of picking out individuals as MVP, it's a team game and team effort. Some crucial roles might not be rewarded enough to come high in the list of contributors and might harm teams if everyone is gunning for that sweet recognition. How were you envisioning the biggest contributor selection process to happen btw? Score or a vote system of some kind?

But I do enjoy the idea of something specific to the outfit winning a series for example being added in. Perhaps big billboards in the social hub showing their colors? That'd get some recognition to the winning outfit and would rub salt in the enemies' wounds :)

I'd be opposed to this purely from a "it's op, nurf" perspective. With nearly any other gun you can tell the OP-whiner to go actually try it. But for the super-restricted stuff, they can't... that's why pretty much all the super-restricted stuff is carbon copies of other guns which they *can* go try out. Also, we've got more than enough gun-spam cluttering everything up already.

That said... I really like the outfit camo idea. Braggin' rights is a big thing in this kind of game (at least imo)! :p

Love it, Personalisation is sorely lacking and having it be outfit-wide strengthen the bragging rights and identify for both player and outfit. Feeling like you're a part of a good group of players, being respected and/or feared, having outfit feuds, also adds a lot to reasons for logging in. Much like how guilds in MMORPGs function, i.e. you might not need the phat lewts which drop in the raid but you're pushing to remain the top guild and get those future server first or if you are more into the casual/causal-but-competitive minded it becomes more about achieving what you can with the people you have.

I also think you're onto something with the weapons. I'm thinking a platoon ability where you can create different types of focus like having a stealth squad where you get improved suppressors but can't take X or Y or 'frontline assault' type of deal which gives you special extended mags or something. All in all, adding an extra layer on top of the fairly generic stuff we have for loadouts and abilities.

As noted, I can't agree with a straight up buffed weapon limited to a small group of players.

But your idea for allowing outfits to pick "outfit specialisation" that come with trade-offs? Excellent! That suits the whole PS2 "side-grades" thing perfectly.
