Open letter for the infiltrators (yes about the cloak too)

Thank you Village for this useful video.

That video confirmes that many of the infiltrator-players* just huge drama-queens (aka whining b*tches). Yes it's BUGGED. As many other things in the game. But while many other things are affecting everyone this only affects the guys who play on low settings since they got an advantege because of that.

Don't understand how can anyone say the last patch was a nerf. Infiltrators got a CQC weapon, cloaked infiltrators no longer shows in infra scopes (both for vehicles and infantry) yet you are b*tching about how can i spot you when you running in front of me like 5 meters. Watch the video and learn: you can be completely invisible by standing still and crouching.

Yes your cloak has a sound, if it wouldnt you can just sucker punch everyone since noone would know that you are near (sidenote: in a moderate size battle the sound of the cloak is irrevelant, because of the friendly infiltrators, random explosions and you know: everyone shooting like crazy).

Don't forget that you have an ability to help your team: hacking. Heavy and light assaults don't have such thing.

And even after this you won't stop the cry how broke this class is.

    For. F*cks. Sake.

LA jetpack was broken for months. And when i say it was broken i mean it didn't work at all when it decided to not to. Hell jetpacks is still broken: LVL2-5 is of the jetpacks are still the same.

*note i didn't use the word "every" since i don't agree with the generalization, what many people do (every vanu, every light assault etc.). there is probably just as many awesome players, who play infiltrators as the ones whining on forums (and often ingames) constantly.

If you feel offended by the painful truth don't hold back yourself: let the hate come.

edit: Oh, silly me. I forgot the detect device. Please tell me more how useless/broken/UP this class is.

    1. Enemy infiltrators have different sounds.
    2. You can hear an infiltrator within ridiculously huge 100 meters range.

    you can hear infiltrators, yes
that is the extent of it.
In battle with 20 participants on both sides it doesn't matter if the cloak sound is audible or not.
Yeah people know that there is an infiltrator around, but you can't find them anyway, because of their buffed cloak.
I stopped looking for them, only when the spot on the map shows up 3-4 for times at the same location I go have a look, because I know the Infiltrator is bad and I can perhaps find him.
If the Infi shoots, changes position and shoots again, I don't bother. I will no waste time (and my life) trying to find someone who can shoot me in the face, without any possibility for me to see him.
Since IR/NV-Scopes can't see cloaked infiltrators and they vanish while being cloaked and kneeling it makes no sense hunting them down.

In smaller battles the sound is audible and relevant for me.
It says: don't stop, don't run straight lines, watch out - perhaps you are lucky.
An infiltraitor with a SMG is if well executed immortal in 1v1 scenarios.
    (Invis you know)

Look. I made a Haiku for the OP.

I'm not sure if AKA counts as three syllables. Hope I don't get reported for morae hacking.

Not sure if trolling or just... I hunt enemy infiltrators all the time. It's not difficult. It's rather easy.

Funny how some people think infiltrators are useless cough TE cough cough and other people think infiltrators are very useful, or maybe they are just flip flopping to suit their purposes.
  7. Vaphell

true that, plus you can expect people to become intimately familiar with the faction sounds, seeing more and more CQC infidels with SMGs. More exposure with lots of dying involved = very fast learning experience.

I love how he tells everyone to stop "whining" about the cloak because it's just bugged, then brings up the IRNV scope issue as a buff to the class and whines about it......when it's also a bug.

2/10, poor effort, see me after class.

The game is hemorrhaging players since GU02 = less money for SOE
Another kid "whining" about "whiners" = Priceless
For everything else there is the SC card.

    1. Cloaking sound CAN be heard from 100m
    2. Cloak is borked and is easier to spot the inf by someone on low settings when it is active, thank you GU02....
    3. Cloak is reflecting indar textures at distorted/ much lower resolutions (slightly pixelated) for users of high and ultra settings since GU02
    4. Cloak refire delay on deactivation was nerfed in GU02 (bug?)
    5. Render distance was borked across the board heavily in GU02, screwing over snipers COMPLETELY, and even attempts to infiltrate: how could you possibly know the path of least resistance when people aren't rendering till sub 50m

Even though I claim to be one the guys on the "cloak isn't that bad" side of things, I'm not sure what this video really proves. The whole crouching thing would be great if this were hide and seek, but typically as an Infiltrator I like to move. I might be able to methodically crouch, dash, hide, crouch, dash to anywhere in the game, but after taking 5 minutes to get to my destination, one guy could see me or hear me and make that whole trip a waste very easily.

I've tried to use the "crouch cloak" to stage an ambush, but the short duration of the cloak coupled with the time it takes to actually reach that stage of near-invisibility (there's about a second or two of delay after you stop moving and crouch down) makes it really unreliable. If the crouch cloak actually kicked in as soon as you crouched, I could see it having some use. Personally, I think it would be nice to have some control over how I use the cloak. Right now it just kinda feels like there's a lot of "turn cloak on, sprint like mad to next cover, hope no one nearby is paying too much attention". There's very little user input.

Ow.. thanks for showing a video about medium-high graphics.. luckily low settings only see a ******* black building coming towards them!

    yust saying...

The bright side is, supposedly this is going to be changed as we aren't supposed to be this visible.

    /Thread.

Especially this thread, it's already too late. All that's going to be left soon is these same trolls who don't even play this class who only hung out here for attention from everyone else because it was the most active Class forum. Saw the same thing in TF2 (...and a dozen other games...) on the Spuf forum for YEARS. Fortunately that was Valve so they eventually got around to fixing their problems. Granted it was on VALVe-time ™, but atleast we knew all along that one day they'd get around to it.

No such luck here. Go ask DCUO players if SOE ever fixed PvP. Go ask SWG players if they ever made up for the N.G.E. Nerf. Go ask Everquest players if they ever lost their virginity (haha, I kid....I kid -- we know that elf in drag at your LARP camp still counted as human and you could marry him in some states).

Enjoy your Troll Forum suckers. Those of us who like Stealth classes have better things to do.
  16. Jests

I'm pretty outspoken about my thinking that cloak isn't broken and I purposely named my character the same as my account so that way people would know what biases to expect of me.

You can pretty clearly see my most played class is infiltrator. By a lot, actually. It's almost all I ever play.

Infiltrator has issues, and so does cloak, but it's not broken. You're just not as good at stealth classes as you think you are, and you're too used to true invisibility as a crutch.
  17. RobotNinja

I headshot cloaked infiltrators from 100, 200m away and even near the fringe of render distance because of the bugged cloak. And the cloak is not supposed to become more visible if you're moving and less visible if you're not moving and crouched...IT'S A BUG. That is NOT how it's supposed to work.

The devs have been repeatedly introducing this problem EVERY OTHER PATCH SINCE CLOSED BETA. One patch it works fine, the next it's the same garbage we have now, then it works, then it doesn't, then it works, then it doesn't. To me this shows a distinct lack of quality control/any testing at all on the developers' part.

And this update/patch was really awful. I can't honestly believe they bothered to test anything with this update aside from jumping around in a warpgate and shooting each other with SMGs, unless you want to argue that they knowingly and intentionally released a patch this bad with this many game-breaking bugs, the cloak being minor compared to all the other horrible bugs.
  18. Jests

    He's posted that video a lot :p
  19. Plague Rat

Do you have any evidence of that? Or are you just hoping really hard?
Becuase I recall the devs actually adressing the different transparancy levels a while back because highest transparancy level didn't always transition properly when the user was still/crouch transparancy wasn't activating properly. Be a pretty strange thing to bugfix the way a bug functions instead of fixing it outright. And the way the talk about the cloak transparancy in live streams sounds like that's exactly how it's supposed to work... You know, just sayin'

Also to the rest, just though I'd throw out that for every infiltrator here complaining there's a magnitude more in game enjoying themselves, making use of their cloak, and adapting to whatever quirks we're dealing with at the moment, and now that I've said my piece I'm going back to being one of them. Have a day.
  20. RobotNinja

Right...it's totally supposed to function like that...which is why it totally only functions like that on LOW SETTINGS.

IT'S A BUG. It's worked before and it's been bugged before and the devs have acknowledged it was a bug and then fixed it...and then of course broke it again. The only thing this shows is that the devs for some reason are really good at reintroducing the same bugs repeatedly and their QC/Testers suck heinously because if anyone had spent more than 5 minutes doing something besides spinning around in a circle with Mouse 1 held down and yelling, "Look! A SMG!" then they wouldn't have deployed this patch.
