On 7/9 - TR *asked* to be double teamed

Played my TR character on Emerald all night tonight. Good times. I played as a follower, not a leader which was a refreshing break. But...

WHY, Why does the TR fight the NC on Hossin when Vanu has both the pop and the territory? Why? (serious question... please reply with answer)

You have TWO tech plants, including the one that is closest to the NC warpgate. You know that NC is going to push for it. Yet outfit after outfit and platoon after platoon was defending that tech plant instead of fighting VS.

I had to jump through 4 different platoons until I found one that was brave enough to face the VS. It was glorious and TR was mopping the floor with VS... then turned back to fight NC again.

    W T F ???

Sorry guys I know this is just one anecdote from one player. I've been through this single anecdote so many times now that it is starting to become statistically significant.

Emerald TR is *scared* of the Emerald VS and will fight NC whenever they have the chance. I'm trying to play my TR character more and more (I dig the underdog) but I simply cannot abide complete strategic stupidity. It leads to frustrating fights and a lack of fun. STOP IT RED! Fight the *logical* fight, not the *emotional* fight.

NC is more fun to fight.

Nope, this is true. Try to tell the TR in /y to attack the VS when they clearly ought to be and see what happens. It doesn't matter how badly zerged out and spawncamped the base is, they will ALWAYS get uppity about it. It's goddamn shameful

i am hearing a lot of these exact same complaints from connery TR. does the TR just naturally attract that many more farmers?

Fighting NC probably doesn't make their ears bleed from all the PPA spam.

Gee, this sounds like a bad decision in this situation. I can't think of why the TR would attack-

Wait...it's NC that's doing the attacking? And you're getting upset that the TR is defending their territory instead of leaving it empty and committing all their people to fight the Vanu? If your guys want to double-team the lowest-pop faction then just let them do it, don't come up with strange justifications about why they deserve it.

Anyway most of the fighting is on TR's border, situation normal.

Because you either have to fight both factions at once, or let one of them push you to your warpgate while you push the other. Everyone is getting double teamed all the time.

I have to admit I kind of agree with the op. Was playing the same night as the op and was on Hossin after VS won Indar alert and TR took a little time to get its stuff together and push VS away from warpgate.

Population was VS 51% NC and TR both 29%. We (TR) after a few failed pushes made a big zerg that pushed the VS out of the North line I was with it while it took the1st treetop base then switched to the south to stop the VS pushing in again while zerg pushed our north.

There were 2 outfits doing the same in the south 1 being AOD for all you AOD haters who say the don't do anything useful but then the zerg hit the tech plant held by the NC and I started to get nervous, thinking please only push the NC out of that tech plant and 1 base buffer on each line. Don't push any further or else we will be swamped by the VS numbers as the NC pull of the VS front to stop our push from warpgating them.

What followed I m sure you can guess, some outfits pulled out of the zerg and came to the south but enough kept pushing that something even worse then what I thought would happen happened. The NC went stuff this and just left Hossin so TR was going to face the massive VS pop all by itself while 1/3 of its pop was ghost capping NC territory.

At that point I thought time to log, I m not staying to deal with the self inflicted pain that is coming. My guess is that Vs would of locked Hossin within the next 2 hours.

Your ears bleed from all the spawn grenade spam that Emerald NC does. By far the most I ve every seen done by any faction on any server lol. I swear sometimes 100-200 grenades come flying out of their spawns and I start wondering were they get them all from?
  10. zombielores

You are not a true NC yet, all the TR/VS run from my screeches of FREEDOM from my shattered camoed ogre armored raven max.
Also don't forget the screeching of my shattered camoed phoenix, you ears will bleed of FREEDOM.

On topic : NC was/is the farmed factions back a few months ago when they didn't have anything over powered and the best and only thing they could come up with was the vanguard shield being easy to use (not OP) and those instincts still haven't died down because you know Old Habits Die Hard.

TR and NC are just much more enjoyable to fight than VS, especially on Hossin. TR / NC stick out like sore thumbs, while VS practically blend into the environment on Hossin, or anywhere at night. The lancer remains an awesome AV weapon, while the lock on striker can't hit crap with all the trees, and the phoenix can't turn well enough to navigate well. And of course, the magriders can climb all over what hills are there and rain death on bases much more easily than the other vehicles. Most of the bases are open enough that NC's "shotgun advantage" isn't worth much, and VS are pretty an even match for TR at range. There really is no reason for NC to fight there. Everything about the continent is bad for them.

imo TR is the most fractured faction. Even if we have pop advantage, every platoon i join is fighting for a base where they're outnumbered 60/40 or worse.

Just today, the VS was kicking our butts, only because i was in a platoon that decided to fight the ENTIRE 20% of VS on the cont, and being outnumbered as the base badly. So here we are, 45% pop on a cont, yet every platoon on the continent is doing their own thing getting their butts kicked because the other two factions decide to unify their efforts.

Every now and then i get on, and TR has their crap together, but often its just a bunch of platoons spread out and outnumbered at every base, even if we have continent pop advantage.

i teach them to have this logic: if you see a door with red dot throw frag (can be applied from inside or outside).
    how ?
thanks for proxy chat for: GUYS THROW IN FRAG/NADES, (once nade go boom) PUSH PUSH PUSH GO GO GO.

Why would I want to fight VS? They have Orions and PPAs.

This isnt an Emerald.. or even a TR problem. It happens on all servers to all factions. The problem in down to the game. There simply is no incentive for the lower pop factions to go fight against a much larger force. If TR are getting a pop XP boost, they are going to get that extra XP regardless of if they kill NC or VS. Then it becomes basic human psychology. Why seek out a much larger force, when they can have a more even fight against the NC. What most don't realise is if they pushed VS and then NC did the same. All factions will have a balanced fight. Problem is, that then relies on NC doing the same. And we come back to square one, where they will push TR for a more balanced fight.

This is the downside to a three faction system. Unless properly balanced incentive is put in place, it is always going to be this way. The benefit of a three faction system is that you can always have a balanced fight (if properly balanced incentives exist), even if one faction has a massive pop advantage (until one faction hits more than 50%).

Actually I think this is the accurate answer based on what I have observed.
  18. Hoki

    I can see the NC.

Till TRay figures how to make the VS as visible as everyone else, the space romans will fight space merika

I wish TR had a futuristic version of a Roman soldier's helmet. Come on, player studio, I'm counting on you!!!

It is very difficult to see the VS at night, or against dark backgrounds. It is especially hard to track moving targets that blend in and out of the background. I cannot believe that SOE had the nerve to push the MLG aspect of this game.

I cannot comment on things like the PPA, never used it, but I can comment on the Orion as I have used it extensively.

The Orion is a essentially a free gun with no drawbacks, given to the most powerful class in the game, the Heavy Assault. This is the highest DPS 0.75 ADS LMG in the game, with easy recoil, no bullet drop, and wide open frameless holosights.

The NC have absolutely no analogue to this gun. Worse, the NC get the Gauss SAW, IMO the most difficult gun in the game, as the default. Even the Anchor, a 1000 cert gun, is inferior to both the Orion and the MSW-R.

The closest TR analogue is the MSW-R. The hipfire does not make up for the lack of 0.75 ADS. Strafing is very important in this game, I've lost engagements at midrange due to the faster strafing speed of elite VS heavies. The MSW-R is not free, to even get a realistic hip fire advantage, you will need 250 certs for the gun + 200 certs for the advanced laser, and another 100 certs for SPA which would never make up for reduced ADS mobility.

I still remember when everyone complained about the CARV at release and it got toned down. It surprised me that barely anyone talked about the Orion, which was a similar gun, albeit with 0.75 ADS and a smaller magazine.
