Yesterday the TR won the Indar Biolab alert. Saturday the NC and VS tied on the World Tech plant alert. Saturday there was a three way tie for the Indar Tech plant alert. The VS aren't winning every alert. In fact most of them have been losses or ties. The few we win on other continents, we almost get gated in the process.
What class? Lets see, LA = Drops C4 (because of ZoE's movement, it's hard to lay it and blow it up before he moves) Eng = Drops AP mines/turret/V Turret/C4 (Again, by a simple side strafe or moving backwards these things are largely negated HA = Rocket and/or conc (Again rocket wont hit because of the ZoE max movement, conc's + rocket launcher almost always works, so does conc plus LMG) Infiltrator = Mines (Same as Eng) Medic = Really nothing Thsi is the reason why people are saying its OP. MAX's where balanced around explosives being counters. When you add movement, then its nearly impossible, because guns dont do that much damage. And don't say shotgun, if it worked, NC would be using. It's simply not realistic.
Damage buff is only relevent with AV weapons which it shouldn't be on the Bursters but doesn't currently affect the Vortex. So the damage buff argument is nil. ADAD is a good way to get a rocket to the face. The momentum addition and strafe speed reduction makes it incredibly easy to hit with a rocket. The entire difference is that Charge doesn't take an armor reduction, it's faster, and on top of it all, it's FREE.
Using explosives is not fighting head-on, that's the point, and yes, you can counter ZOE MAXes with explosives and rockets, the mines work the same as before, C4 and rockets still work, it's only a bit harder than before though, but nowhere near impossible.
ZOE has the downside of 'walking' faster and combined with the blinding glow on your weapons you tend to run into mines more often when it's on. Simply because you can't stop fast enough (momentum) and don't have as much time to scan the ground (speed increase), you will also take more damage from the mines because of the armor reduction. This is also true for well placed C4 for an ambush, a lot of ZOE MAXes tend to play hunters and chase you just because they can.
See the problem is when you play VS its easy to say "its only a bit harder" while the guys playing NC and TR who actually have tons of expierence playing against them know its "alot harder". How much easier is it to ambush an NC or TR max vs a medic or a HA?
I'm dying the same amount of times to C4 and Rockets than pre-ZOE, and no, I don't stand still waiting for them.
The only thing it was good at before was AA, if you are going to get rid of the speed portion of it then get rid of the extra damage taken. Also dont give it a cool down because then there is no reason to use it over charge.
Mattherson has a pretty imbalanced population right now, which was made worse by the merger. Not sure how bad it is in comparison to other servers, but any server with a severe population imbalance (especially during alerts), needs to be addressed by SOE.
Thats what it seems like only the opposite on connery since the merge. On helios it was already very imbalanced in favor of the NC but since connery got merged with us they have been super zerging to victory most of the time. I pray that SOE puts something in place like 3 continent locks and if all 3 are full just not allow you to log in.
Personally I like it when the goddam lead dev calls a whole faction wankers in their face. Shows professional touch.
Hmm in an age of doing anything to make a point I'd like to see or hear in this case straight from the devs, I don't believe much of what I see and even less of what I hear when it comes to any issue, yes, even when their are picts! That aside, my KDR in a VS max was pretty high before I don't play alot but I could go between 5/3 to 6/3 on a normal night as long as I reign in my aggression. I just want my jumpjets back, ZoE in my opinion was the wrong way to go. And I say this because charge and canister were truly utilities, ZoE seems like a get it or die kind of ability. Whatever they do with it I still love my VS MAX sorta like my Magrider. I don't know what the devs will ultimately do, but maybe the jumpjets weren't as "OMG game Breaking" as many seemed to think.
I think one of those things needs to change, not all of them. Either increase the current damage it takes when on, give it a timer or remove the speed portion and damage taken portion. Any ONE of those would bring it inline. I do sympathise with the VS guy's thinking that it will be over nerfed into uselessness because often they will nerf all 3, which is just as imbalanced.
Jump jets would be in no way game-breaking, and I've never understood their absolute stance on not allowing them. The only weapon that could be used WHILE jump jetting would be the comets, and you'd maybe get a full clip off before you ran out of juice. For those worrying that it's going to be nerfed into uselessness, you're right to worry. The NC MAX was given a "preliminary" balance pass before the MAX overhaul, and then the MAX overhaul was shelved so now it's just nerfed and waiting on something that, let's be honest, isn't coming until there's snow on the ground. ZOE will be nerfed (or it wont, and the game will die from pop imbalance) and you'll get nothing else. Take heart from the fact that at least the nerf will not affect your offensive capabilities - you'll still have your mobility and +damage, because the most likely nerf would be to increase the damage it takes to something that means there's a reason for VS to run charge or even have ZOE turned off. Getting one shotted by a default launcher would be a good start.
Thanks for understanding my concern. I am deathly afraid of SOE and what theyll do to it. If they must nerf it they should just cut down the speed bonus by 5-20% somewhere in there and keep the rest the same. What I would want to see is leave ZOE alone, but just allow the NC to have 1 arm free with the shield up, and have the TR get slight buffs to their stats in lockdown. Sadly SOE doesnt answer to me though :/
I cant believe that vs guys are on here on this thread, trying to defend something that has been admitted by the devs to be overpowered.
I'm more concerned about that the lead designer is fraternizing with a known neonazi, instead of handling population imbalance or any other game breaking matters.
