Older overlooked bugs

Everyone on my team says "cease fire I'm a friendly" at the same time when orbital strike hits multiple teammates. It mainly just sounds stupid. I'm not sure if this is a real bug.

Sometimes bases appear to be locked when they should appear open for capture. However I can still capture these bases normally, suggesting a UI issue.

Cockpit on ESF sometimes doesn't display Afterburner amount and Ammo. Getting new ESF fixes it. I only play NC so I only see the issue on the Reaver but I'm assuming other ESF cockpits behave the same way.

Sometimes after playing the game for over 3 hours many of the sound effects don't play, most noticeably the firing of my own weapons. I have to restart the game to fix this.

If I place a base construction turret (anti vehicle, anti infantry, anti air) at too high of a height, I can't reach the module slot to insert a module. The module slot should be lower.

If I place an engineer spitfire turret inside of a command center, it will attempt to shoot through walls at enemies.

I haven't gotten any game crashes since the most recent patch. I play several hours a day.

More of a feedback thing: it is difficult to place many structures on unlevel ground and slopes. In particular the router, even though it is small. It is also difficult to find places to fit the command center and rebirthing center unless you have a large and very flat area to place them. It would be nice if they were adjusted to allow for a wider range of acceptable ground heights.

Also If a pillbox structure is placed too high, I can't put an elysium spawn tube inside of it. I must place the pillbox low enough so ground is exposed inside of the pillbox, then place the spawn tube on that ground. It would be nice if I could place the elysium spawn tube inside of the pillbox on bare metal, not only dirt.

I want to add that the no deploy zone on Indar Excavation Site (Indar continent) isn't working correctly. It looks like a small no deploy zone on the minimap, but I can't deploy the sunderer where it looks like I should be able to. I think there are a few other bases with this problem but don't remember which ones.

Also the bases appearing locked when they aren't actually locked (mentioned in my post above) might be limited to certain bases. I experienced that issue on Waterson's Redemption (Esamir continent) yesterday. The points all had the padlock icon over them but we were flipping points to NC anyway. It appeared to fix itself after maybe 30 seconds of capturing the base, so it looked like normal eventually.

This may be known already but I noticed if I go to my forum account personal details, where you choose an avatar for these forums, the Osprey server isn't available to choose and servers that have shut down are still available to choose.

On the Ascent (Amerish continent), if you go southwest of the main tower until you are on the road, you get some weird texture effects on the ground that make it appear as if you are underwater.

This may not be classified as a bug but I think everyone agrees this needs to be addressed and I don't see a specific feedback place on this forum. The player base command center's landing pad is too small. It is difficult to land any aircraft on it. It barely fits an ESF, the smallest aircraft, and always falls off. Must use third person. Please make the landing pad on the command center larger. The command center may need to be redesigned so the landing pad is on the very top middle of the building. Also it kind of bothers me how the command center has an empty and pointless second floor (except for two module slots).

I kind of consider it a bug that the deep operative implant doesn't tell you when it is working in anyway, whether by some kind of hud icon lighting up or by looking at your first person player model. You have to look at the clock and watch it count down 12 seconds and hope that it is actually doing something. I like how the fortify implant DOES tell you when it is working because you glow yellow when it is working. Something similar should be done for the deep operative implant too, maybe you glow green instead of blue or something like that, or the hud icon could turn red like how the counter-intelligence implant works when you are spotted. Both would be ideal.

I still think infiltrator is generally terrible after the update. I think there should be a vote to revert many of the infiltrator changes. Cloak being too visible is my main problem with it. You have to be 50 meters away to not be spotted while running and cloaked. Full cloaking works fine in other games (TF2, Overwatch etc) so why is it such a big deal for this one? Before the nerf, the infiltrator already had reduced shields and limited firepower compared to other classes to compensate for cloaking. Just equip darklight if an infiltrator is giving you trouble. The slow decloaking gets me killed all the time in close quarters. It used to be a 50/50 chance I could save myself if I was spotted while cloaked by shooting them first but now that is never the case. The infiltrator had (and still has) the lowest percentage of people playing it compared to other classes and somehow it gets nerfed. I can hardly play as a sniper anymore either because the scope glare keeps getting me killed, even at distance. Everyone starts shooting at me when I zoom in! I think the people who complained about infiltrator never played it and didn't realize it was never overpowered. I think it used to be about right but now it's worthless. If anyone disagrees I challenge them to play as infiltrator for a few hours so they can see what a struggle it is now.

Also I don't think recon dart ever hurt anyone or needed a nerf. How the heck did that get targeted by the nerfs? Was nerf the entire class the goal here? Not targeted problem fixing, just ruin the whole class right?

Not that anyone cares much about Oshur, but when using the Corsair (the boat) in first person, there is a turret directly in front of my field of view, blocking my vision forward. Quite irritating. That could probably be fixed without remodeling the Corsair, just raise the height of the player's camera some in first person so you can see over the turret and the problem should be fixed.

Also the Corsair can't launch people high enough to get into the Trident bases. Not sure if that was intended. That means air must be used to clear the landing pads, then Lodestar Galaxies or anvil Sunderers must be used to take those bases.

I think Oshur could be fixed just by redoing how things work underwater. Infantry should swim as fast as you can run on land instead of walking around underwater slowly and all abilities should still work. It takes forever to get anywhere underwater. Delete and refund all the underwater weapons and equipment, just make the regular weapons work more similarly to being on land, without all the bullet dropping shenanigans. I think it might be okay if vehicles can't fire underwater and underwater becomes a place for only infantry to fight. Also the fighting on Oshur always happens at the center area, Excavation Cleanup Site, with very little activity ever happening elsewhere. I think this could be fixed just by adding more connections with the territory lattice.

If I pin a mission to the hud and use the larger minimap, the pinned mission usually doesn't display. I have to make the minimap smaller to see the pinned mission, then I toggle it back again because I like the larger minimap (best for high resolutions). The pinned mission does display with the larger minimap at first when I launch the game, but if I resize the minimap to small then large again, I get the typical behavior of a pinned mission not showing when there is a larger minimap until I restart the game. The inconsistent behavior of when the pinned missions show tells me this was probably not intended and is a bug.

I think the missions are getting repetitive after doing most of them daily for 2 weeks so there should be new missions in the rotation, but that is a different topic.

If I attempt to change seats in a vehicle by quickly and repeatedly pressing the key to change seats (F1, F2 etc) I get a notification asking if I want to give myself permission to change seats. It's easy enough to clear away but still annoying.

If I install a vehicle discount to an owned territory with a vehicle terminal, then on the map under "SPAWN AS" and "SELECT VEHICLE", the discounted price is not shown when I hover the mouse cursor over the vehicle that has the discount. The full price is always shown on this menu, not what you would actually pay in nanites after a discount.

Also on this same menu, sometimes it will say vehicle terminal is hacked so I can't use it to spawn into a new vehicle. But in reality when I go to look at the terminal in person, it is not hacked and not destroyed. It is in usable condition. Somehow this menu thinks terminals are hacked when they aren't.

If I am standing in a no deploy zone, I can't place a building, even if the building is not in the no deploy zone.

If I pick up a building from an ant or silo, then change my mind about what building I want to place by getting a different one, I cannot get a cortium refund for the item I am returning. It destroys along with the cortium it cost to get it. I can waste all the cortium by being indecisive and changing out which building my soldier is holding in equipment.

If I die while attempting to place an orbital strike with the targeting laser (from the orbital strike building, not sure about the other kind of orbital strikes), the rotating red square that appears doesn't go away and is now stuck on my HUD. It eventually cleared after 5-10 minutes, not sure why.

If you look at the model of the orbital strike laser from first person, you will see an eyepiece on the back of it, presumably for aiming the laser. But when I zoom in, I don't look through the eyepiece. I look over the targeting laser and it works about the same as the motion detection dart from infiltrator. I expected aiming similar to heavy assualt's annihilator missile launcher, or like from a sniper rifle with a blacked out border and a large crosshair.

I'm pretty sure other targeting lasers for the other base artillery behave the same way in regard to both issues but I haven't been able to test.

The survivalist implant shield regeneration delay reduction does not stack with the advanced shield capacitor shield recharge delay reduction, but there is no note about this on the implant. I wasted iso-4 thinking it stacks to find out on a wiki it doesn't.

Thank you we'll review, if you can record how each of these issues play out on your screen that would be most helpful if possible.
  9. Lehv

Were you wanting me to upload lots of clips to youtube then post links here? I wasn't sure if that's allowed. I might need a bonus check to motivate me to make all those videos. Maybe I can make like 3 videos if you tell me which ones you want.

Another bit of feedback, it would probably be best if the pinned missions were on the bottom right corner of the screen since that is blank and so it doesn't interfere with the minimap. It would also allow for better visibility on the left side of the screen which is more likely to have something important to look at than the bottom right corner of the screen.

Another bug, sometimes the engineer repair tool looks like your primary weapon. I think it happens if you jump out of a vehicle to repair it and switch to using the repair tool too quickly.

    I wanna add something more.
I spawn way too often at Spawntubes in a crouching position or just faceing the back. I think it depends in which position i died last time.
Playing as NSO I have weeks where i don't collide with friendly NSO Players and just like now I can't go through them.
Sometimes the Map Shows a timer and progressbar for a Facillity that is contested and than being there it was just a false Alert.

    have a nice weekend
  11. Lehv

Also when two continents were open and I was playing on the lower population one, I didn't get notified of an alert starting on the higher population continent, causing me to miss most of it. This happens every time. It would be best if I got notified of alerts starting no matter where I am (including Sanctuary and VR Training).
  12. Lehv

Here is a video of one of the more annoying bugs that I see frequently. You can see how the vehicle terminal appears hacked from the map, but it actually isn't when I go walk up to it.

Sorry if links aren't allowed. Mithril the community manager asked me to post videos.

  13. Lehv

I tried sharing a bug video here with a youtube link, but my link is removed automatically. I don't think links are allowed on these forums. How should I share the video? I can e-mail you the video link if you prefer.

I keep getting chat notifications for "Cortium levels dangerously low! Fill up soon!" even though I never built a cortium silo in this play session. No idea what is causing it. It happened 3 times spaced out about 5-10 minutes (didn't time it, not sure).
  15. nasus

Oh and I almost forgot. Even after all these years I still got massive Frame drops from the C4 Present Explosion

    Hi, Lehv

I agree with/experience most of what you've mentioned above, with a few additions as well as an exception.

    Additions:

    1. Rarely, when installing a Mobile Armor Discount at a base, the discount isn't applied. I have to redeploy and return to the same vehicle terminal to purchase a vehicle at the expected cost of nanites. I haven't purchased a vehicle when experiencing this bug, so I can't confirm if it's just a visual bug or if it actually deducts the incorrect amount of Nanites. I'll edit this post if I experience it again and remember to confirm this.

    2. Lately I've started spawning in Rebirthing Center spawn Tubes awkwardly. I seem to clip into them, but I am still able to leave the tubes without issue.

    3. Placing repair grenades on a Tank's turret block . near where the body of the tank and the gun connect and swivel, causes the entire turret section of the tank to bounce around erratically.

    4. Most notably, there is a current repair bug. It seems that stacking sources of repairs multiplies rather than stacks. I.E Nanite Repair Grenade + Repair Tool yields a much greater increase in repairs than is intended. I realise this thread is about older bugs, but this one is on the 'nuts' scale, especially considering how it is unavoidable (Repair deployable from sunderers, nanite repair grenade, etc.)

An interesting observation from this bug, though, is that the recent update to Sunderers has put them in a position where they seem quite oppressive with or without this repair bug, particularly in small scale scenarios. Such that MBTs no longer have a clear role as Sunderers seem to always be the better choice if you have at least 2 players available. They are for more robust, similarly mobile, and infinitely more versatile when deployed, while also offering formidable damage output as well.

If Sunderers ever get considered for further iteration, perhaps it would be beneficial to increase the repair rate of sources of repair not inherent to the sunderer itself (I.E exclude the sunderer's repair deployable) to improve the survivability of sunderers, while adjusting the Deploy Shield and Reactive Armor combination to make these less potent.

Toning down the Deploy Shield and Reactive Armor could return to MBTs some of their relevance, and make Sunderers less oppressive in smaller scale scenarios, while in theory not becoming an unkillable vehicle in larger fights where the combined "Alpha Strike" of a larger force counters the active repairs. Alternatively, their mobility could be adjusted. A more robust vehicle would be slower if it has more armor on it.

    The exception:

"I still think infiltrator is generally terrible after the update..."

I somewhat agree with this statement. I think that the cloaking being too visible is the most glaring (sorry) issue. I do feel that the fire delay is an awkward solution, but not that big a deal. I've enjoyed the way I've had to change my method of playing with the infiltrator, in particular with bolt action rifles, as a result of the fire delay - I'm not too concerned about scope glare either way, although it is useful if you're using the Infravision implant and the enemy sniper is further than 125m. It's also worth considering that triggering the glare and having an entire squad shoot at you instead of others isn't necessarily going to be a bad thing all the time.

I also think that the Recon Dart could be reverted back to its previous state. But, here I am also not really concerned. I feel the motion spotter is superior or at least so much more convenient (even pre-nerf Recon Darts) that I'd be using the motion spotter either way.

As it stands, I feel that the visibility of the cloak could stand to be reconsidered, or perhaps adjacent factors such as the total shield hit points that Infiltrators have, as well as the Recon Darts.

Another bug, when using certain types of scopes (like the NS Annihilator missile launcher or EM4 Longshot sniper rifle with 12x zoom for example) on an ultra widescreen monitor, the left and right thirds of the screen aren't blacked out but they probably should be. I imagine the same behavior is true for many other weapon scopes where the whole screen is supposed to be blacked out except for a portion in the middle, but I haven't tested all of them.

Purchasing Daybreak cash from the in game link is broken. I open the in game depot (store), click get daybreak cash, then a steam web browser window appears asking me how much daybreak cash I want to buy, I click 500, then a blank page loads in the steam browser and I can't proceed with the purchase. If I want daybreak cash I have to google "buy daybreak cash" or similar to figure out where to buy it then proceed with the purchase on the daybreak games site, which does work. This is hurting revenue from Planetside 2 I'm sure because some people may not be able to figure out how to buy it or just not bother if it's a hassle.

I've been told by some players that in game cheater reporting and bug reporting does not work. If that's true, yall are missing out on lots of cheater and bug reports. Reporters will think they reported something or someone but there is no indication the report vanishes. This kind of problem will contribute to a buggier game with more cheaters. Might want to check that in game cheater and bug reports work and if not you should give people a link from the game to these forums for bug reports or the cheater reporting instructions web page if that is the correct way to do it now.

I'm doing a bug report on bug reporting. How meta.

    Another Bug:

When a submerged vehicle leaves the water at a steep enough angle that the Camera is still in the water while the vehicle has exited the water, the underwater camera effect persists instead of being removed.
