The gorgons are useless as they are now. The main problem with them is their accuracy. Doesn't matter how much dmg you do if it doesn't hit.
The gorgons with lockdown are kinda like a secondary AA gun option that's leagues more effective at killing infantry and vehicles than the bursters. I find myself shooting Gals and liberators miles away at the max render range when these puppies are in lockdown. Of course the point of these things aren't really there when you can quickly go to an infantry terminal to change your max to AI/AV/AA for no nanites at all.
