Nothing outguns Liberators

Ever noticed that? Everything that supposedly defends against them always get killed first. Turrets, double burster maxes, ground to air missiles, ESFs, walkers, rangers, all of them take only at most 3 shots to kill. All from very safe ranges and with projectiles that are more or less instantaneous in speed.

Sunderers need only about one volley from the liberator nose gun, followed by one or two dalton/tank buster hits, and you're dead before you even know what hit you. Every other vehicle dies even faster, including scythes. And now with the proliferation of dalton/tank buster libs, they can one-shot ESFs (even without, the default gun chews ESFs down extremely quickly, or they can simply ram you). You can't snipe them with rotaries/hailstorms either because SOE recently worsened the damage falloff of ESFs.

Conversely, they take FOREVER to die. Impossible even, if they have autorepair. It takes the entire magazine or more of a fully upgraded scythe to down just one liberator. Maybe it's just from the Vanu perspective (given that we don't have Strikers that can take them down safely, and our scythes have the ****tiest weapons and a large easy-to-hit pancake profile), but seriously how have they escaped balancing?

Or maybe I'm just a ****** player. Any tips or are they really just that powerful intentionally?

    Huh?
My vangaurd with Titan AP works great. My pheonixs makes them run, wondering what hit them. Drop pods are OP really annoying to them. ESF with m30 AH makes them crazy.

There is a lot of **** up there that tears us up, most annoyingly is usually a spawn room full of autolock campers.

    Yeah....
    so...
did you join yesterday or something?

Liberators are the targets that are focussed the most, tanks, ESF's, infantry will always focus them first. Why? Because they're strong as ****, but they're also slow as **** and have almost no cover to work with.

I remember that time where a shredder/tankbuster Lib tried to kill my sundy, my dual basilisk killed it before it got even close :p

Right. The VS don't have an MBT gun with 275m/sec velocity. And/or a main gun that has enough elevation to even aim that high. And the Lancer is LOL vs. aircraft at 250m+.
  7. Phrygen

AP anchor prowler are pretty even with libs.... if not more potent in a 1v1...

Depends on the pilot, tank buster can really instagib.

AP vangaurd with shield as well.
  8. Mr_Giggles

    Need elevation? Find hill.

Liberators slow as crap? Wut? Thing can go 200+ easily with V thrust.

Hang back in your ESF with a Saron and gun the lib, should have plenty of time to dodge any dalton shots you see. If you feel more confident then get in closer with a Rotary and simply do your best to stay in belly gun blind spots.

The Saron is extremely good at range with it's accuracy and hitscan like velocity.

I mean in theory they are supposed to be bombers, but over time they have become less and less utilized IMO.

I suspect because they lack a lot of decent AA options that don't revolve around the nosegun... if the tailgun could be made to not suck, then I think people would use them more.

Libs are super tanky and powerful. But they are slow as a turtle. You will never be able to outrun an ESF.

If the Lib crew is good they can just turn around and 1-shot an ESF. If they suck they will get focused by everything in the sky.
  12. ABATTLEDONKEY

This thread is silly. Libs are strong in small/medium fights and completely worthless in larger fights. No you should NOT be able to solo a lib with ANY weapon. The lib is a multi-person platform that requires communication just to operate.

Libs are large, ad extremely slow. They are targeted en mass, and cannot even engage their target until they are directly over top of them, or VERY close to them witht he nose guns.

^obviously doesn't know a thing about the Saron, Saron only has 25m/s more velocity than the Halberd

The Liberator has to see those things to fire at them. Sure a Liberator with a Dalton or Zephyr can annihilate me in a shot or two, as an HA, but they have to SEE me first. If I fire on them with a Missile before they get within 300 meters, they can't see me at all.

ESF default nose guns are some of the safest ways to take on an expert Liberator crew. Stay at 600-700 meters and snipe them. They can't ignore you unless you miss a ton, so they either have to spend all their time dodging, run away, or chase you. If they chase you, keep the distance and draw them further into places they don't want to be.

As a Skyguard, don't try to defend a territory from within that Territory if you can help it. Get to a nearby base and then proceed about 1/4th to 1/2 of the way to the place where Liberators are circling. Most of the won't even think to look outside their target area for you. And if they do, you'll have put 1-2 clips in them before they realize where you are.

You have to remember in any ground versus air equation: visibility is air's biggest weakness, mobility their biggest strength. Unless you are a ground-pounder are oblivious or preoccupied, you will almost ALWAYS see the ESF / Liberator / Galaxy before they see you. By the time an average Liberator is within range to even see you, you will have put 3 missiles into them, then they have to discern which of the blue dots on their thermo is the origin of the next missile or two before they have to run to repair. If there is more than just you doing the damage, then they will have a few scant seconds over target before having to retreat.

Every time I have been C35 Tankbuster + Daltoned to death, it was because I was NOT paying attention above me or behind me, and no one else nearby presented a substantial G2A threat / saw them either.

Most expert Liberator crews, even non-TR Libs, don't equip flares. They use afterburner to get them out of an area fast.

They are plenty balanced. The only way for SOE to help you more would be for a big "HOLY SNAP! AIRCRAFT WITHIN *800 METERS OF YOU, FIRE ALL YO STUFF!" warner to flash across your screen.

I enjoy the expert Liberator crews, because it is a hell of a rush. Knowing that the Dalton can take me out in one hit, and dancing with that impending doom. I toothpick them to death while they try to swat my fly of an aircraft with a cinder block. I can't kill them quickly, but if I am careful I can make their life REALLY annoying for 15 - 20 minutes. It's hilarious!

I use the Saron but more out of desperation. Against aircraft I'm better off spraying the target. Sarons, Vortex, and Lancers are very hard to hit a distant fast moving target. I still haven't quite figured out the leading to do on them yet, reliably.

Liberators are the sad vehicles in this game atm. They desperately look for a chance to join the combat and have some fun but as soon as they show up they get hails of flak, tank cannons and ESF weapons against them. Libs spend most of their time fleeing just like NC MAX spends most of his time in combat reloading, while TR/vanu MAXes just keeps shooting forever before they have to reload. They should have their magazines cut to 1/3.

I just made a liberators and 5 seconds later I was being shot at from enemies just outside the render range. I fled but got chased by something that didn't even appear on the radar and there were no ESF around before I made the lib. Destroyed.

^Obviously doesn't know a thing about ESFs, or that the standard nose gun on scythes is called the Saron Laser Cannon which is what I'm referring to since the OP is talking about his scythe.

Seriously, the guy is talking about his Scythe and I talk about using the Saron. L2context

ESFs take them out easily if your at least somewhat skilled, yesterday I took out 3 in a row with my scythe, and I'm only BR52 :D
  19. Phazaar

Lmao, I can't be the only one who thought this was a sarcasm thread, right?

Libs are easily the most under-utilised under-encouraged under-powered vehicle in game right now. If you can't take one down with an ESF, you shouldn't be flying. If you can't take one down with a Lib you shouldn't be flying. If your team can't take one down with Burster MAXs before it can even turn around, you're with the wrong team. If your team can't take one down with AA turrets before it can even turn around, you're with the wrong team. If your team can't AP shell a Lib out of the sky before it knows it's been hit, well, they need to practise their trickshooting more...

Haha , everytime I fly my lib I get snipped by a br80 TR with his anchor4 ap prowler ,get gunned down by 4 random strikers or even a whole pack of scyths.
