Playing my heavy today after the latest patch.

Bad News: I got the no damage bug again

Good News: I could play for a good hour before I got the bug, normally I can only last 10 minutes with a heavy before getting the no damage bug.

Curiously I've yet to get this, except for the earlier issue with flak. Wonder why it hates you in particular so much... o_O

The issue is caused by your pc's high precision event timer getting interrupted, usually by performance monitors such as speedfan. Planetside 2 seems to rely on the HPET in some way for hit detection. You are likely not running such software and thus are not experiencing the bug. Those who are do the following:

Download this utility, it will check your computer's DPC latency http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

When you run this program you'll see a graph and I can guarantee you that every couple of seconds you see it spike into the red. This is usually caused by things like fan speed monitors/temp monitors. Once you know that your DPC latency is spiking, the next step is to find the cause. Start turning off programs one by one until the spiking stops, then go enjoy Planetside

I have on occasion left Core Temp running without any hitches, but usually only for a few hours to establish if my setup at the time will melt anything. I set all my fans manually though because they were stupid. :p

not everyone has something they can do on their end and we absolutely should NOT need to.
  6. TheNewGuy

I tried this and its not spiking into the red at all. I prefer if SOE would just work faster on a fix.

    What motherboard are you using?

Me and my friend were the only people in my squad getting this issue, and the only thing we had in common was a motherboard: A gigabyte. Gigabyte boards have this overclocking program in it called Easytune, and upon uninstalling that, we've had no problems since. Asus also has a similar program, I can't recall what it is, but people on the forums says uninstalling that helps

Thought Id give my two cents
  8. Rak

Oh I agree, this and the recent framerate issues are both SoE's responsibility to fix, I was just trying to help with a temporary workaround.
  9. Bluebullet

heard about this easytune but I can't find any such program or file on my computer. how new of gigabyte mbs have this? mine if about 3-4 years old.

was wierd today with aa max i desyncd from hitting aricraft but could shoot infintry that were attacking me, then i went back to shooting aircraft and nothing(just explosions with no damage, back to infintry hitmarks.??

i used to get this bug as well,
i was using a onboard motherboard NIC ( GA-890FXA-UD5 rev 02 ) it was giving me the *****, i had done everything from
    drivers update
driver delete and reinstall from fresh download
    network diagnostics
    ping the servers
    formatted the computer
    moved house
    changed interent companys
    cable tests different modems
    diferent cables
even different lan ports as my MB has 2
    formatted computer
formatted again and put windows 8 on
edited settings to remove any auto negotiation between my router and me were set to work the best.

so as you can see there is nothing else i could have done, then i did another thing which was a smart *** joke thing,
i got a mate who had a few 1 gigabit NIC's laying around. so i put one in and it worked instantly and my no damage bug was gone
so my advise would be to try a old NIC and see if that helps

I've heard all this before. How it is a problem with ASUS motherboards etc. None of the hardware explanations to date apply to my system.

In VR the other night I got the bug no less then 8 times in about 2 hours. Some times it fixed itself. Some times switching classes fixed it. One time I had to switch conts.
I've got lots of video of it on my Youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/WayneEdwardFrancis

    So swapping continents fixes it?
  14. Thentar

Well that is debatable. I switched to Indar and came back ... first few shots still didn't register. So I don't know if swapping fixed it or if it just fixed itself and that happened to be just a few seconds after spawning in.
  15. Darkwulf

This bug only happens to me. My wife plays next to me and has never gotten this bug before. So i can rule out internet connection.

I have fixed it a couple times by spawning as an engineer then repairing something. After that I can do damage again.

The bug seems to always happen after playing heavy assault. I have never gotten it when playing any other class.

Come on Sony fix this ****.

Also a simple logout to character screen fixes it as well. Dont need to shut the game down completely.

I had this happen a few times recently, including when full HA auto and Shotgun point blank doing zero or low damage, but players nearby not experiencing the same. Ended up being router instability (BT Infinity ADSL - 3rd one). Strangely everyone was moving and shooting smoothly, downstream was fine, so I was taking hits and dying each 1:1 fight, but just not registering in return, or at least reliably.

My fix is to simply power cycle my BT Infinity router every PS2 session, as is not affected by any other games. Not sure if this helps anyone, but sharing so you can at least eliminate when troubleshooting.

    Cheers

Is everyone experiencing the same issue here? As far as I can tell there are no widespread problems with the desync issue in our servers so we might have to begin gathering some information to see who it's affecting.

Have you guys noticed a trend in where exactly the game client starts to desync, or is it completely random? When the game does desync, does it ever result in a crash? If it does, do you get any error messages? The information is greatly appreciated!
  18. DonutsOfFasting

I have the same issue too. I also play Heavy and stop doing damage after a while. I play with two other people in the same room, so I know it isn't an internet connection issue. There doesn't seem to be any reason when the game client desyncs. It never results in a crash and there is no error message. I ran the DPC latency checker and my latency never spiked into the red. The issue has seemed to have gotten worse after the last patch. Usually I could get over an hour of game play before it affected me. Riding around in a vehicle with someone else usually fixed the issue. After the last patch, it happens within the first 30 minutes of game play. I have to log out and log back in to be able to do damage again.
  19. m0unds

the desync issues i experience tend to happen: a) after a long period of client uptime, and b) when there's a large quantity of players (friendly, mix of friendly and enemy) in a single area. after going into/out of an area with high population, i'll experience issues like not being able to damage enemies, bailing out of my aircraft after it explodes and taking no explosion damage, etc.

my dpc latency is in the green, regardless. seems like dpc latency is a red herring in this case.

i didn't suffer it for a long time but i just left the game because of it. played several hours around 4~6pm CET or something like that and it already felt strange at times but nothing much but since i logged back at maybe 8:30pm CET it was just unplayable, kept getting killed instantly without getting any hit markers and at some point blasted a heavy point blank with a semi auto shotgun five times without him dying, i suddenly die to a random infiltrator and see the heavy i was shooting at didn't scratch me either.
It started as soon as a logged back and i also restarted the game at some point while it happened, didn't fix it. Woodman has been quite empty today so not a population issue as far as i am concerned.

Not sure if related : i have experienced those weird texture_bug/flashing_screen twice today (in my afternoon session though, not the last one) and it didn't happen in...a very long time. Everytime i have this bug it starts by having one or several tank in my proximity suddenly flip over and rotate like crazy causing a huge fps drop, after a few second the flashing bug and then the game crashes.
