New mini hex system will dumb this game into oblivion

    Exactly!

That's why planetside lasted a measly 10 years! You nailed it right on the head...o_O
  2. SiosDashcR

Or possibly because it was revolutionary and different compared to all the other games out there at its time.

Otherwise PlanetSide 2 players would migrate back to PlanetSide 1 and not bother with 2.

You think it will be like following the yellow brick road? Sounds like I'll just get more Tank mine kills. Rush in on Reaver set for speed, drop 5 mines and kill 2 tanks and or sundy's. Repeat 10 times. Over 3,500 vehicle kills now so I know it works.

Or better yet. 24 Engineers in two galaxies and 100-120 quick tank mines. Who cares if the galaxies die in the end. Zerg destroyer before they even get to the point.
  4. SiosDashcR

Try doing that in an area with red enemy platoons in the hex system that already exists.

You make it sound as if AA doesn't exist en masse.

Slyguy, Have you even been on the test server?

You can walk outside of the lanes you know...
  6. applepienation

I have my concerns, but I shall hold my judgement until it is released.
All I know is that if we ever end up with Infantry zerg vs Infantry zerg, us medics will be very happy.
  7. SiosDashcR

It's not about that but the restricted angles of which you can flank the enemy.
  8. WalrusJones

It will dumb down the players, who are not even certain that they can walk into neutral territory...

I just hope I can buy NS vehicles in neutral territory.
  9. drNovikov

Tha'ts dumbing doen the game. Glowing infiltrators so people could see them in the dark. Battle lanes so people could know where enemy is going. And so on.

You mean like how counterstrike players ran back to source instead of playing the updated version?

I like how you think the lattice system is the only difference between PS1 and PS2.

Believe it or not, people like having an over arching objective, a win condition if you will. The Crown as it is with the new hex lanes would simply turn into a choke point that would be actively avoided or always engaged, depending on how the player base treats the new lane setup on the whole. Good game design actually encourages players to keep moving forward, instead of camping a spot, because dynamic gameplay > static gameplay. This is why SOE keeps adjusting the Crown to make it a little harder to defend every time they take a look at it. They like the defensibility, but they are aware it might be a bit over the top.

There's a difference between dynamic and fun, and dynamic but inconvenient or inconsequential however. Today's system is the latter.

Vehicles got nerfed because FPS gamers like playing their FPS' like an FPS. Who'd have imagined that? They still could use more life however. Feels inconvenient to pull a tank, honestly.

So then obviously PS2 is doing something right, otherwise all the PS1 Veteransi in PS2 would've moved back already.

Have you even tried the test server yet? YOU CAN STILL GO ANYWHERE EVEN THE GREY AREAS. The minihexes merely show which areas have to be taken first before moving to the next, you can still bypass them and hit them behind enemy lines as you wish.

The new system makes flanking even more viable because enemy numbers do not show up on the map in the neutral areas, you can move outfits with hundreds of people through them and catch the enemy by surprise if they are did not send scouts out to clear the area.

Half of all the complaints about the lattice system are from misreading or taking the photos at face value without understanding, much like your post, READ and TEST it out before making such stupid uninformed statements like this.

Because we don't have enough mindless laggy as **** fights as it is, MAKE EVERYTHING BIGGER!!1
(and eliminate all other forms of fights as well)

    You're comparing 5 months to 10 years?
  16. SiosDashcR

I don't think you understand what the complaints are about.

Obviously you can go past the gray areas - it's called Neutral for a reason, not restricted.

The issue is the angle of flanking that you can do is much more severely limited than before - and if you haven't read why I'm saying this, I suggest to check all 7 pages.

How about you download the test server that was just released and test the new system out? We need the manpower on the server to really give the lattice a good test. Also you get to test out the new pump actions which are absolute beasts.
  18. doombro

It's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

I've played a few hours on the test server. The tactical depth of the game was largely unneffected. The flow of battle has however, been vastly improved. There are no "ghost caps". Every capture would push the front line under this system, which is a much needed change.

If this new hex system dumbs the game down for you, you probably weren't playing the game with much strategic depth to begin with.

After many treads on this I have come to relies they don't understand anything other that connect the dot strategy. But I wish you better luck then I have it trying to get them to see past there own flawed views.

Well it's no longer worth arguing since we've spanned a nice 8 pages.

Complain or not, SOE will decide how it turns out from the Test Server and we'll have to adapt regardless. It'd just be a tad blander to some degree but I suppose the only positive outcome from this is a ton of enemies and little to no tanks/aircraft thanks to all of our infantry gathering at one point and smacking them down with AV turrets and what not.
