Honestly the game needs to do more of the things squad and platoon leaders are SUPPOSED to be doing automatically, the upcoming mission system needs to take the human factor out of the equation. Just give us an objective to complete and let us work on that until the job is done. I'm tired of joining up with squads who aren't trying to get anything done ,I don't want to just Zerg from base to base because it's easy. The mission system needs to make that a non-issue "Hey our mission is over here, let's get on that ****.) No more arguing with Squad and Platoon leaders just a simple--this is the goal the game is giving us so that's our mission now end of story.
  3. Badname707

I disagree, to a point. The mission system shouldn't remove the human element of leadership, it should assist it.

You know what most people do with the missions system today? IGNORE IT.

Think that's going to change? Nope!

If you want to be a sheep - expect to get slaughtered like a sheep.
  5. Hasteras

The mission system was one of the most worthless things they've put in the game this year.
  6. Cest7

Wait, its so disorganized you have to call for an alliance WITHIN YOUR FACTION!?
  7. Ronin Oni

If you think TIW and PREY aren't effective... you're out of your mind.

Sure, Infantry is needed to secure a point... but someone needs to secure the airspace and the terrain outside and between bases.

That's where PREY and TIW come in, and they're EASILY the most impactful forces I fight against when I fight the NC on my Emerald TR.

I take it you've never heard Matherson Command Chat?

    It's pretty humorous.

I don't know if it ever got better since the merge, but oohhhhh man haha.... So much infighting.

You realize it was just the ground work for a more fleshed out system they're still working on and should be updated soon™

There will be player set missions for Air support, tank support, AA/AV support, attack a gen, etc.
  10. Hasteras

yeah. but there was zero point in releasing it it's current state. And honestly I doubt they'll ever be able to turn it into anything other than a signal telling noobs where they should go to get farmed.
  11. Ronin Oni

    Actually, there was a point.

Feedback, live testing, and to help direct new players with a basic "go here".

It's been improved... mildly obviously... since launch a couple times with it's logic, placement, visibility, etc. and has affected their development of the improved system we have yet to see.

Also, not sure if everyone knows or not, but it's a free small xp boost...

    Two things.
You don't need an "alliance" persay, if you can just use command chat properly.
As far as I'm aware, Emerald VS doesn't really have much of an alliance thing, but we win because we have people using command chat to request reinforcements point out enemy movements and such.

Also, as people above me said. Don't make a dedicated out of game comm system. Just use the command channel properly.

Yea poor documentation! You know I just now realized that little icon for base was anything more then a automatically set way point?

Working solo? Sure, follow the bouncing ball. (Why are you working solo?) Working as a team? What does the game's logic have to do with what the platoon leader says. For that matter it's rare logic has anything to do with what the platoon leader says. Most new or pug platoon leaders I've seen are there for:

1)They're clueless they've even defaulted to the position.
2)They've no clue what they even can do with the position once they have it.
3)They're clueless to anything more then "Hm. The zerg is heading west. I'll put the platoon way point there and call it done! To the farm we go!"
    4)Hm ... free bonus exp.

    --------

Honestly I think they should have a mandatory "officer training school" before the game allows you to hold the position or auto-disbands the platoon if no ones done it. Even if said school is just a 2-5minuet video tutorial. It's a little cold, but it would be nice if you look at someone and say "Even if they can't tell their elbow from their ... knee you know they've at least been told the difference once."

It's the whole reason I have almost no intensive to pay attention to command chat. Teen hormones + freebees =\= command.

Nah this is a myth. To the extent that Emerald VS wins, you do it because you have a few high impact outfits that know how to move the map. Take those outfits away and you can coordinate and share #JustVSThings on command chat to your hearts content, it wouldn't matter, VS would be just another faction.
  15. Whatupwidat

Stop playing for a few weeks. TR too - go on strike.

See how SOE and Emerald VS like fighting nobody lol xD

I suppose this might be as good a place to ask as any (don't really feel like cluttering outfit recruiting with a new thread), I've been thinking of joining an outfit for a while but haven't really had time to dig around. It seems every time I start to get a feel for who the outfits are around here, the servers get merged and they all change.

So what's a good NC emerald outfit for someone who's going to college full time and has a job at the same time? (translation: basically only available on weekends, for only a couple hours, exams/papers permitting.)

I'm a fairly poor infantry player IMO (mostly play support or AV, I suck at CQC), but a decent (if cautious) tanker and pretty good turret gunner. Based on experience from other games I'd probably also be a pretty decent Liberator/Valkyrie/Galaxy gunner if I could find a reliable pilot and take some time to get used to the weapons.

I have some experience with flight sims, but I just haven't been able to adjust to PS2's flight model so piloting is right out except maybe for some Gal/Valk gruntwork. Or gunning of course, I've always been a pretty good turret monkey.
  18. Badname707

I may be able to point you in the right direction. Would you prefer a smaller or larger outfit?
  19. WTSherman

Hmm, that's actually a tough call. An outfit that's too big can feel like not being in an outfit at all because you barely get to know anyone, but if an outfit is too small then all too often you're playing by yourself because nobody is online (which was actually a problem for an old Connery character of mine: maybe once in a blue moon I'd be online at the same time as another outfit member).

    Mid-size I guess?

As VS player of Waterson from 2012 who had to deal with the low VS population during the time of TR overpop from Total Biscuit's horde and NC overpop of popularity prior to the Mattherson/Waterson merger into Emerald, all that comes to mind are the words from Red vs. Blue's Private Griff, "Suck it, Blues!"

All kidding aside, since all my alts are stuck on the same server after all these server merges, it is so hard to not feel steamrolled when I'm playing my NC or TR during VS prime time.... but, then again, in larger battles, more people seem to have "stop moving long enough to let me snipe them in the head" or "clutter around a corner so I can toss this grenade into you" moments...
