New C4 damage to tanks + Video

    Light assaults will become useless because you can't kamikaze tanks?

    Apparently someone hasn't seen screenshots of every new base PS2 is building. Walled complexes with few entrances. Any attacking force that doesn't want to get farmed at the funnel will pull LA to flank easier and if I'm not mistaken is the intended purpose of a LA and not a sapper class.

    How so, someone floating off a building out of the limited sight of a vehicle deserves to lose thier vehicle to an OP broke mechanic? It was a dumb broke mechanic and I'm glad top see it go, and I rarely pull any vehicle.

    Wrong. You need multiple POUNDS of c4 for that. The best counter for a tank is....

    Actually, 5. RMB once RMB twice LMB once, then press 1 two times, once to get the carbine, twice to get to the under barrel attachment.

    but is bad i unlock drifter level 5 for kill vehicles with tactis since the air and drop c4 in factor surprise.

    with this change soe kill tactis and strategies of LA.

    shotguns
    flash grenade
    jetpack
    adrenaline
    c4 delay 3 sec
    c4 lose in the death
    and now c4 not kill instantly...

    Sorry, It's just the majority of formsiders believe that the LA class is made for AV, instead of AI which is in it's description.

    C4 is the slowest weapon to kill tanks. Now no one is going to spend 200 points to get 0 points. You can't finish a tank off.

    Which means people will who used c4 before will switch to Strikers and AV turrets and MaX AV instead. Weapons that actually kill tanks in mass. They are just going to pop instantly from the increased stream of rockets pounding into them.

    I personally think assault rifles are generally better than LMGs, less versatile though.

    but you know, on topic and an LA flying makes them much better for c4ing MBTs

    Alright guys, let's settle this once and for all. We got our wish - C4 is now properly unable to instantly destroy armor. But we can't stop there. We want to fix this game, not just demand patchwork fixes to problems that reach far beyond C4-spammers.

    Let's start focusing on the pro-C4 arguments and find proper solutions to them.

    Argument 1

    Tanks can farm infantry and get 50+ kills before dying! Only C4 can stop that!

    Fix: Reduce the score per hour for killing infantry by tank drivers. Ignoring the KDR stat also helps, but some people have been taught by too many games that high KDR means high skill which doesn't work at all in combined arms games. AT ALL.

    If a tank with HE is just farming infantry all day being useless, it shouldn't get nearly as much score as higher risk play ie: pushing objectives and doing actual effective things like killing enemy armor/sundies, spearheading entrenched positions etc. And it definitely shouldn't get as much score as infantry fighting infantry should get. A good start would be removing the 'high threat' kill bonus for tank drivers.

    Currently, Esamir has a bit of a stupidly implemented solution by SOE of just simply walling off anything that has infantry in it. This is the wrong way to go about fixing the infantry 'farm' problem. Segregation was okay in the 1930's, but stop being racist to tanks, man! They can't help take the objectives and really be integral to to the combined arms aspects of this game if they're just relegated to escorting allied Sunderers across empty terrain.

    In fact, the current implementation on Esamir could cause infantry to become too accustomed to not having to deal with armor, and be less prepared to fight it when they need to, leading to more infantry dying to armor desperate to be useful.

    It also is going to encourage air to farm way more than armor can, and don't even bring up those damned domes. Seriously...

    I'm not against adding more cover for infantry and walling portions of bases off and the like, but this is going too far on Esamir PTS right now.

    Argument 2

    Without instagib C4 the LA class is useless!

    Fix: It was already useless. Without C4, the flaws in the class show through more, sure, but there is no doubt that it is probably the most solo friendly class and the poorest class to chose for those working as a team. EXCEPTION to when the team is focused on LA only, which can be quite interesting and should be further encouraged by giving LA's some more options and abilities.

    Perhaps some sort of deployable they can place that is like mini-radar they can attach to hard to reach places giving benefits to their team.

    Or perhaps give the LA class the option of speccing into 'booster' jetpacks that can launch them left or right at high speeds or launch them quickly into the air instead of slowly climbing like the current ones. Neat stuff like that!

    THIS IS WHAT THIS FORUM SHOULD BE DOING! Make suggestions to improve the LA class!

    Argument 3

    C4 is now useless!

    Fix: Make it cheaper! Now that it's lost some effectiveness on armor, encourage its use elsewhere say on clearing entrenched positions from atop roofs and such by making it cheaper and easier to deploy in a non-buggy way, perhaps even allow it to be thrown a small distance with I don't know a cert or something. :)

    All classes but infiltrators have shotguns, same with C4. I don't know what your spouting with jetpacks and flashgrenades and adrenaline.

    It seems to me that you believe that a "point" of LA is to insta-gib main battle tanks. WHAT IS YOUR LOGIC? It's an AI class designed to get over walls, and other obstacles to kill infantry in advantageous positions.

    if they need add protection guard versus c4 but not a nerf in all c4 damage...

    Not alone, But when there are a **** load of them yes. This only forces people to pick the more effective anti tank weapons. Once you reach the critical mass of having enough people shooting rockets to instantly pop stuff its over. They don't have a chance

    For TR you can beat striker count is going WAY WAY up

    I don't get why people are complaining about the cost of a tank versus the cost of C4. A tank costs more and has a cooldown because it can kill an infinite amount of people so long as you don't die and resupply your ammo. C4 can only kill a limited amount of people before you need to buy more.

    Also, for the people who are complaining it's unfair that a single person can take down a tank. It is completely fair because a tank only takes a SINGLE PERSON to operate. If you are tired of "no teamwork" LAs C4ing you then you should try a bit of teamwork yourself and get a secondary gunner to look out for LAs.
