Need higher FOV.

Are you running multiple monitors in Surround/EyeFinity?

If so I can see why you would need a higher FOV, and there's a solution entitled "Wide View Mode", check it in settings.

If you only have one monitor it does nothing though, so if you desperately need higher FOV, (assuming you have one monitor) buy 2 more monitors of the same size and resolution, then setup Surround/EyeFinity (nVidia/ATI).

I personally don't think a higher FOV would look very good on one display.

If you get sick playing PlanetSide, I suggest you either turn of Motion Blur (if it's turned on) or don't play for health reasons.

BTW at 150 FOV you could pretty much almost see beside you, which would look beyond terrible on a single 16:9 monitor,
extra stuff visible at 150 (or 100) FOV would be out of a normal direct viewing range anyway, so it'd look nicer on 3-5 displays.

Beyond certain numbers it's absolutely not "such a simple implementation". Things can really break when you push the FOV above levels where the game (and most, if not all games, might I add) wasn't designed for. Don't get me wrong; I'm all for freedom of choice when it comes to FOV in games and I detest any console-port that forces you to play at ~65 horizontal FOV, but asking for ridiculous numbers is just simply that: ridiculous. The current maximum FOV of 106 (horizontal) is a good number for gaming, and above levels of 110/115 horizontal, you'll get the well-known "fish-eye effect). You're asking for 150 (vertical) FOV, meaning ~162 horizontal FOV. Again, simply ridiculous.

There's either something really wrong with your screen setup, or you've got some kind of visual impairment (of which I'm not making fun of when that's the case, just sayin'). Why don't you post your specs/setup - like the monitor/resolution/aspect ratio you're using - to begin with? That would help a lot.

Damn it. Now I've gone against my own advice of trying to save trouble.

I would use an FOV of 100 because that was what I used in the PS2FOV Fix. It looked fine. It let you see more and didn't fish eye.

One FOV doesn't fit all you know. Just because you don't have a problem with it doesn't mean others don't. I already said I used to use an FOV of 100 Vertical which I found to be perfect for me not for you. If you want to stay with 74 Vertical FOV then you can but there should be the option of going higher if you don't feel comfortable with the current max FOV. For me I would prefer to have terrible animations and stuttering textures over an uncomfortable FOV for me. It only just started to fish-eye at 100. And even if it did why does it bother you. You can stick at 74 FOV if you want to.

What I find amusing about this topic is that in the past FOV was able to be changed in the ini, then along the way they hard-capped it.
So that to me shows they do not want players increasing the FOV past 74, as it gives them too much advantage over other players..

The edge you gain over someone if there is a gain is none existent as people can set it to whatever they like. You could say the same thing about other settings in-game. Having a low graphics setting makes the game look clearer and less blurry so they should ban all the settings in the game so everyone is on an even playing field. Because if that is the case go and play it on console. Having a high FOV is simply because having a low FOV makes me uncomfortable and is too narrow for me it has nothing to do with gaining an edge because you can see a little more around you.

I am actually astonished that I am having to defend myself, I thought that this was a CP game where options were the biggest selling points. Also I am dumbfounded how people don't accept higher FOV in this game but allow in in any other game. It makes no sense at all why there is no way of making the FOV higher in this game. I do know how making the FOV higher causes animations to bug out however having a higher FOV means more to me then a slight stuttered animation in the distance.

Wait, what? "It only just started to fish-eye at 100"? Then why the balls are you asking for frigging 150 vertical FOV? Jeez. Don't you realize how messed up the screen/view/graphics would be? And the possibility of impacting the frames per second in a huge way?

Look, a horizontal FOV of 105-115, maybe 120, I can get that. That's more than enough to negate any effects for people having issues with lower FOVs (mind you, I don't like playing shooters with lower than 90 FOV either). But I guess you're a special case, since you're asking for a 35% FOV increase ON TOP of what is considered to be a maximum standard (120 horizontal).

And you still have not listed any specs/setup information, which could be really beneficial when trying to solve problems. Do that first, before even trying to say something else. Ok? Ok.

I don't specifically want 150 FOV (that is just crazy) I am asking for at least 150 as that would take into account everyone. I play my FPS games at 100 Vertical FOV in every game. Because I can't do it in Planetside 2 it feels very uncomfortable to play. It messes with my accuracy and sharpness of the sights in the game to so trying to use a 2X dot is difficult when it covers the enemy up. I like to have a very high FOV but I know others that only play at 150 Vertical FOV sometimes higher.

    Uh-huh. Sure you do.

+ 1 for higher FOV SOE.
