I have been using the PS2FOV fix for a while know with a setting of 100 FOV. 74 simply isn't high enough for me. I get sick at 74 FOV so it is important. Can we get a better FOV slider or at least another option so we can get much higher FOV's. A max FOV of 150 would take into account everyone's preference.
You're actually using 100 vertical FOV? Probably not. What do you expect them to say? "Of course, we'll make the option available for you, how silly of us not to think of this before!"
Well I already did know that it was 100 normal but I want 100 horizontal FOV. 100 in the settings would be nice. It has been over a year or people asking for higher FOV but SOE has done nothing at all. They haven't even replied to any of these posts which frustrates me. It is such and easy fix, so easy in fact it could probably be bone by a single programmer a couple of hours. Probably less even.
Is it too much to ask for a response. If SOE came out and said they wouldn't do it I would be fine with that because I would stop hoping. But this silence is just aggravating.
It shouldn't be hard to change FOV, but I think sony doesn't do it because they find it an unfair advantage to have wider viewing space. Is the sickness from an incorrect viewing ratio? Or is it because the whole screen feels like you're zoomed in?
it's not really 74 btw, not horizontally. It's actually 90° in hipfire if you measure it. I guess the 74 is the vertical FOV.
It even says "Vertical Field Of View" in the game. Some people really need to learn how to read... 74 vFOV is 106 hFOV: http://www.rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php
I'm used to horizontal FOV 103 and use that in every game I can, thus my vertical FOV setting in PS2 is 71...
I don't give a sh*t about vertical or horizontal. The FOV for me whatever it is at max setting is too low. If it's too low for me it's too low for me. Saying it horizontal or vertical means nothing. It is about whether or not I can play for 10 minutes without throwing up.
Yes well that is for you. I would like to set it to 100 in game setting as that was what i used on PS2FOV Fix but that no longer works. I get ill if I play at a low FOV for me. Like I said it is too low for me probably not for you.
I don't see how it would be an advantage if everyone could increase their FOV to 150 to get a slight advantage. One of the biggest problems I find is that turret vehicle FOV is not 74 vertical in any way. It's more like 30 if I am honest. It makes the game look really sh*t at such a low FOV. If the option was there I am sure people would be more happy. At the moment I can't play any longer then 10 minutes without feeling ill.
It's not in the game, so they don't think it should be. It's not on the roadmap so there isn't a plan. Btw, this is not the ask the dev forum but the one for technical problems.
Well in my opinion it is a technical problem that you can't go higher than 74 FOV. But I will post it there.
Well too bad, you can't have it. I tried to be nice and helpful in your other thread identical to this one but apparently you didn't get the memo. Since you're slow I'll repeat myself: Either take it like a man, get a barf bag, or stop playing the game.
You said you wanted 100 horizontal fov. Then you said you don't care about horizontal or vertical, and that the maximum in-game setting is too low. That's contradictory... because 100 horizontal fov is possible with the in-game setting. I have to agree with you though, it wouldn't hurt to have the option to higher. Even though extremely few people play with horizontal FOV higher than 100, it's not unheard of, and it wouldn't give you any advantage because it's all preference. In Quake, you can set FOV up to 130, and the ones who play at 90 FOV do just as well as the ones who play at 120 FOV, for instance, it's just preference. Depends on game type as well, duelers have lower FOV than CTF players, etc.
To all the people reading this thread and thinking about posting here, read this thread first: https://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/fov-problems.182888/ It'll save you a lot of trouble, since the thread starter obviously doesn't know what he's talking about and refuses any advice or correct information. Suggesting an FOV (either vertical or horizontal) of 150 is simply ridiculous. Not sure if trolling.
Nothing is ever that simple, especially with this game. Any number of things could go wrong or get broken. Plus it'd be more work for the devs to have to redo or clean up all the animations and objects that are currently outside of the player FOV.
