Hi guys, new NC planetside 2 player here. Long time ps1 player. I have a question regarding the cyclone and the gd-4f firstly. I can't make my mind up between the two for close range base assaults and overall versatility. Ideally choosing one of these would be great, but I've also started looking at the shotgun class weapons too. I've given myself 4 options: 1. Get the GD-4F 2. Get the Cyclone 3. Get a Shotgun (and hold out for further SMGs) 4. Stick with current Carbine and hold out for further SMGs Thanks in advance
Emm, carbine and sweeper honestly, your best bet. And I'd wait for that new revolver coming our way. Edit: honestly even if you choose GD-7F, it's kinda not an NC weapon, but a copycat of TR weaponary, it's great, but worse than their couterparts. I'd invest in basic one a bit, shotty, then GD-7F probably.
While I am not a believer in SMG's, the NC one is awesome. I would still go with a carbine, and maybe a shotty later on. Now, the GD7F is not a copycat TR weapon. And how is it worse than a TR counterpart? It has a higher RoF (higher than any TR carbine), faster bullet velocity, and same CoF. What are you on about?
It is worse than the TR counterparts because it has only a 30 round clip with a long short reload. Fast RoF+small clip+long reload = sad soldier. The lynx has 10 rounds more in a clip with 0.1 longer short reload and it also has 0.75 ADS move speed and it only gives up 50 bullet velocity, which does not matter in the ranges you want to be using these carbines. So yes, the GD-7F is a bad Lynx or a bad VX6-7. Also nice triple post.
Not a big fan of the SMG on LA. The crosshairs wig out while jet packing for some odd reason. Could be a bug. GD-7f is nice, but small clips and long reload times mean effective bursting is paramount. I like the Mercenary AF-19 for its cert cost (130 for foregrip + NV), Razor GD-23 for mid range accuracy (auto-fire head shots have never been easier) and Gauss Compact S if you don't mind a (very slightly) less powerful AF-19 that gives access to all attachment options. In the right situation, the underbarrel GL feels like cheating. I recommend getting this weapon if only to use with your engineer. When it doesn't bug out, the unlimited ammo is too good to pass up. Honestly, I prefer the Razor GD-23 most. This gun gives me the ability to sneak from spot to spot, picking the enemy apart for strong positions, then dropping in close when the time is right to throw a couple C4's into the mix. I have the GD-7f with advanced laser and Piston (auto shotty) with extended mags for CQC, but honestly find the Razor GD-23 a more effective overall weapon.
GD-7F is IMO the best NC weapon on any class - but you will wish it had a bigger clip. Its hard to say if you should get it or a shot gun - they are both good weapons with completely differnt play styles.
Advanced laser because it gives a big bonus to COF when ADS while jumping(I have no idea why it just does.). I used to use the forward grip but the difference it makes is slight.
Yeah, I have the advanced laser + soft point. I usually get a couple of kills, but rarely go on big streaks like I do with the Razor or Mercenary. I feel much more limited to CQC and am often caught without any bullets waiting for the infuriatingly long reload.
Update guys: got the piston last night and loaded it with the extra shots upgrade. Having a great time.. VERY fun and suits my play style completely! Another question now that my situation has changed: Any recommendations on attachments for the Piston?
extended magazine is the only attachment you need for a shotgun. That and maybe night vision to see through smoke.
