Right now the workaround is to lower the Master Volume to 0.40 or less to hear people to make people's voices louder as 100 is the max at you can't hear them when in battle. The actual volume of the people should be at least 2-3x of where it is now but instead of it sounding distorted when you turn up peoples voices, the actual voice of people should be Louder and clear. Only the seasoned people who have been playing know to do this. New players may not unless they go to my Discord and see to do this already.
