Anything to stop the TR zerg.

I'm so tired of the TR zergs, and the 4th factioners exacerbating the problem. This game is getting less and less fun. I've just put enough time in that I hope things can improve. Alerts have just become a TR zerg wave you watch happen to a continent. The multi continent alerts at least spead their numbers out. But having a 40% pop is game breaking, there should be some in game way to create a non-aggression pact with another faction that you vote on, were for the duration you are treated as one faction for griefing points and what not. Then we could use this to beat down the lamos in their "easy victory" horde.

Really, the devs just need to focus on implementing some more "anti-zerg" type of weaponry and base design. Ex. the occasional chokepoint where a smaller organized group can confront a larger group. Artillery of some kind that can be a force multiplier against a large force in the open but ineffective against smaller groups using cover. And so on.

They need to think of current and near-current strategy games for inspiration--ex. the Dawn of War series had great anti-zerg tools available that could quickly change the outcome of a battle if one player clumped up their forces in one spot without thinking.

NC was tied-ahead in pop server wide for that alert. We only had a pop advantage for indar, but that alert was one hell of a fight.

Oh yes I had a lot of fun. We managed to keep it a draw at the very last second after a suicide run to keep Granite Valley from flipping. Just standing on the point delayed the cap enough to move the flip from a couple of seconds before the alert ended to a couple of seconds after the alert ended.

TR really over committed at Splitpeak in the end and made a really bad move when they ran a huge armour column straight into a vehicle shield at Mekala halfway in.

There wasn't any fighting alongside the VS. When we went North West from J908 the VS got pissed at us for doing their job of taking West of TR WG. They even sent a full assault at us WELL before getting a connection. It was at a tower base dead West of the TR WG. Can't recall the name but the VS sent a full platoon after us with no chance of taking that base from not even having the Bio-lab yet.

Don't know if it was to "help" or kick us out so they could fight there later but we dug in and dealt with it. We had orders to **** any VS we seen and it wasn't a ceasefire. Just an agreement to not attack each others bases.

I don't recall any VS NC agreements working out in the times I took part in them (2-3). They always end up with us killing each other. One we wanted to break a TR cont lock, before the 75%/15% change, but the ******* VS kept us from attacking the last base. They took over the cap point building without any connection and kept us from taking it with massive numbers of troops and vehicles.

You can call them Brother if you want. I call them ******** that are not to be trusted and will try to mess with you at all times. 2nd thought, brother might be a good word for them.

Hmmm, actually I'll think something up then put it to the community, revise improve it, and then put it on PSU, Redditside and here.
    Just thinking out loud...

I took the topic to be more of a commentary on 4th factioning. I wasn't trying to convince anyone of anything, just confirming what the OP said, that at the start of the alert NC had the world population advantage and at the end it was the TR that had that advantage. During the alert, even with NC command doing some combined ops as far as I can tell they still haemorrhaged 25% of their population to TR (there also might have been a slight dip in VS numbers as well, but to be honest I wasn't paying attention to them).

As for disabling alerts, I strongly disagree, as they provide some much needed meta game. Here's what I would like to see happen:
    - Change the time on alerts to 1 hour.
    - Implement a 1 hour faction lock (based on the MAC address not the IP).
This should at least stop the alert based 4th factioning.

Maybe you should have extended joint ops, so Vanu and NC could both go after different bio-labs and not worry about fighting each other. That would even out the odds against the TR, and might have let to more of a draw in the alert.

I don't have a say in how OPs are run. At most I am a squad leader but mainly an opinion giving grunt of DVS.

In my time playing PS2 I have taken part of 2-3 joint OPs with the VS on Waterson. Not one of them have gone right. Either pubs on one side **** something up or a little "fun" is had and it ruins the operation or damn near it. Truth is we can have agreements with a few outfits, but not the VS and that makes joint OPs between factions not possible for long term goals.

Best I can do is suggest that my outfit not attack VS for an alert. But I have no say on what any other outfit does. We are having a hard enough time as is with the outfits of NC Command trying to make the in game command chat useable. We are not ready for much more and making pacts with the VS isn't worth the effort right now.

It's my opinion to ignore crap like the WDS event. NC has no chance in it and now does VS. Fight what you can and have fun. Im still going to use the scores as ammo for balance problems but Im not going to let it ruin a game for me.
