So the Aegis shield, we all know it's kinda meh even in the hands of someone using it right. In it's current form it's nice and can be a huge help to a push or defense. But as it stands it's just that meh. So i suggest changing it to be like the vanguard shield BUT instead of only having a timer we put a hp value on it aswell. So for the skill, it would be like the HA shield and cover the whole max allowing for the use of the weapons, it would slow you down by the same amount as the current aegis, would also have an hp pool of about 20k and a 5 second up timer. Would not be toggleable, so once up it's up until timer runs out or it's hp pool runs out. This would allow for it to be more of a door kicker ability while hopefully not making it super op. Yes it would bring the NC max back into the light on indoor fights. Just a suggestion.
Too many Vanu will cry. The tears felt in this forum if such a thing were to happen would not be worth it.
This would make NC MAX crashes nearly impossible to resist. They could simply become invincible when they had to go into the open to push into a new point. A shield which covered all of the MAX, lasted until the health ran out, but couldn't be fired from would probably be acceptable.
I do feel that it would be OP like that. What SOE could do to improve Aegis is make the shield itself bigger so the max can't be shot so easily through it (as well as actually make it protect against explosions). Bigger shield so it covers the feet and extends around the sides a little (and maybe upwards a bit to protect the head...).
Does the Aegis really not protect against explosives? Weird. I'd like to get a different hit conform graphic when I'm hitting the shield vs. the Max itself. I still don't know if I can shoot through the shield's eye slit. I also want to see NC MAXs moving in testudo.
Aegis don't really slow you down, it just avoid you to run and makes you as slow as when using your guns. To be balanced, your suggestion would requires slower movement again (almost immobile) But shield + firing would certainly be the least situational max utility, especially with HA toggle modes (vannie shields have CD and timer contrarely to HA instant on/of toggle and permanent recharge) and certainly a bit OP = TR/VS tears. Imo, aegis is already the least situational utility (since ZoE nerf) since you can use it efficiently during every reload. Have its drawbacks (no sprint nor the ability to shoot). It needs a larger cover (feets and shoulders) and fix to projectiles going trought it. But it's already a decent alternative to charge.
