NC Max Riot Shield

    DONT GET RIOT SHIELD ANYTHING. Its good now. For some reasons what kids dont understand.

    This thing might be useful and pretty cool to me if it at least left one arm available for fire, for defense/assault. Then you could peak around doors to defend or assault yet still manage to actually shoot. Sacrificing one arm weapon for the shield would be acceptable, but both? I don't care how much it blocks, it'd still only be useful to teammates as some sort of cover.

    Make it like the AI MANA Turret shield where it has a small opening for the other arm's weapon to fire and let this ability be useful. What good, at all, will be to a MAX alone, or even a MAX and engineer team, if you cannot defend yourself or even reload at all while it is active? This ability is trash as is, except if you want to be a waste of 100 infantry resources for 1-2 extra seconds of moving forward cover for some squad mates. The other MAX abilities give them more offensive power at the cost of making them more vulnerable. The NC MAX makes itself more vulnerable and gives up all its offensive power....what?

    And every NC and VS wants to nerf anchor mode. But why? Stationary target for one second anchor and one second unanchor. Maybe ONLY maybe NC max riot shield may have little bit more absorb but dont get them shield in right hand and active weapon in left hand which can be used when u in same time use shield.

    I'm not even sure what you are saying...?

    I didn't say anything about nerfing you're TR Anchor mode MAX. The Burster seems crazy strong with it at the moment, but I digress, this is about the NC MAX Shield.

    The TR MAX sacrifices it's movement, the VS MAX sacrifices some protection, why can't the NC MAX sacrifice one arm for a frontal shield?

    There are plenty of situations where I can see this ability being a boon. The problem here is to many of you are thinking of solo play. Start thinking of it from organized group play where you have 4 or 5 MAX's next to each other with backup. This is going to be very nice.

    I would like to see this thing, but 2-3 times as large. Right now it doesn't even cover the MAX, let alone those behind it. If it isn't going to be a reflexive survivability boost, it needs to at least make you an effective wall.

    The problem is that the ZOE and LockD don't require much effort or planning to use compared to the Riot. Most of the people commenting in this thread talking about getting 6 to 12 players to create this wall and support this wall to use this one ability effectively aren't being realistic. The shield doesn't add a single low cost (manpower) effective strategy like the other two abilities do.

    My suggestions:
    Allow reload
    Increase walking speed while the shield is up or give it a 10% DEF buff that goes all around the MAX while it's active.

    You're sacrificing damage on a short range AI MAX it should mean something.

    Your not even forming a coherent sentence. Right now in NC Riot Shields current state it is not a viable alternative to charge whereas both ZOE module & anchor mode will have their niche. They serve completely different purposes. The NC Riot Shield is a false sense of security. I promise you if this goes live in its current form, the forums are going to explode with people screaming about how useless it is. "Smart opponents" will actually want you to use this over charge because it has so many hard counters & the MAX has no way of retreating as his escape tool is sacrificed for the shield. As others have pointed out, why should NC MAX users need to coordinate with multiple other MAX's to form a wall for this to be effective? Both anchor mode & ZOE module can be used by lone wolves to max efficiency.

    Just make it about 1.5-2X wider and it will probably be solid. Or even make it smaller, but allow the use of 1 gun: to further balance it: it can't reload either gun until shield is down.
    why? As people have mentioned there is no reason to use this over charge. This will either make it a truly covered damage tank for moving squads, or give it an ability to get a few shots off while protected, rather than just being a big blue square merely distracting you from the squishy infantry it cannot stop you from shooting.
    Also I was really excited for some creative artwork done, Im hugely dissapointed that it is just a blue square. Our AI turret shield looks sweet, I really wish it looked more like that, but wider.

    Riot shield = tactical shield from Counter Strike. Now if I could just get a Desert Eagle...

    I think u can get more absorb dmg and able to run with cost no use weapons of course.

    Riot shield should be as large as the AI mana turret shield, it protect max and infantry behind. Just to convince players its has someuse.

    Other than that is just downright downgrade

    A max has entered a deadly situation. Choose your adventure!!!

    A: Turn 180 and activate charge!!!
    The max escapes the dangerous situation and lives to fight another day!!!

    B: Activate shield.
    Unable to fight back and unable to flee to safety, the max merely delays his inevitable demise.

    shield max have engineer on his back. Game is about teamplay not soloing.

    Still not enough to outweigh the speed issue, or that is doesn't cover much (it doesn't even cover the MAXs feet), never mind not being able to reload IMO.

    Even being able to reload (like you could in PS1) gives it some use, but in PS1 the shield was paired with choked modes for AI making it much more useful as you could hit back a bit at range. It wasn't so useful for AV (besides MAX) or AA, however the problem with it in PS2 with AA is the directionality of the shield, from the angle ESFs usually hit the shiled won't cover anything even if it is up (where as in PS1 it was a totally enclosing shield).

    Shielded max cuz lockdowned max is stationary target for rockets. Say any situation again pls.

    He said a lockdown MAX vs a shielded MAX. Lockdown MAX will win, because shield only absorbs 20-30 bullets atm. Dual mercies/mutilators with 40% increased fire rate would tear a MAX to pieces. Smart TR MAX players will position themselves in corners, lock down with engi behind them. This effectively gives them full range of fire with no way to flank them. I can think of ALL KINDS OF USES for lockdown & ZOE module, yet I am struggling to come up anything practical that NC Riot Shield provides that charge doesn't do better.

    get new anti vehicle rocket launcher of NC max and u can cover and fire to the stationary target or if u become CQC u have grenade launcher (the new one) and u can again cover everywhere and fire grenades to TR max position. Shield is defensive pushing skill not baddas killer defendoffensive ability lol. . .
