I remember when I first found this post when looking for an outfit to join. I was looking for an outfit that likes to use tactics and teamwork to turn the tied of battles. I searched through all the NC outfit recruitment posts searching for one that would compliment my play style and what I wanted out of playing PlanetSide2. I read the stuff in the OP here and had a feeling I found what I was looking for. So I then deleted one of my non NC characters to reroll on Mattherson with SMG. the first night I joined the open recruiting squad we run was a little rough. I was still new to the game and had no clue what I was doing. I ended up getting kicked from the squad for not being with the actual squad leader. I didn't let that stop me. I joined the squad again and managed to link up with the squad leader and the rest of the squad. from then on it was murder and mayhem! we started capturing bases one after the other, racking up kills and XP as we went. I want to say Dathnic was leading the open recruitment squad and he made it very fun. he made it clear what we were supposed to be doing when we got to a base, and, when his orders are followed, everything seems to work like clockwork! after that, its all become a blur. its just more of the same. awesome leadership leading to awesome battles. I would almost describe us as a mil sim outfit. but don't let that term scare you. we are mostly casual gamers and we all love to joke around and hang out on teamspeak. however, we all know that when it comes time for main ops and we drop from the hang out teamspeak channel down to our operations channel, its time to put your game face on and cut out the irrelevant comm chatter. So if you're looking for an outfit that uses tactics and teamwork to win battles, but also knows how to have fun then look no further! Oh man did you miss one hell of an op. We teamed up with AACE and we rocked Indar. After a slow and somewhat painful start SMG and AACE rocked. Infantry did amazing they took and held points with waves of troops pushing them but they never faltered. Air swept in and took total control of the air it was a beautiful dance of air as we mauled vast numbers of opposition air. Armor as well shone we were able to push 3 to 1 odds back with minimal losses and held defense for infantry sunderers. Tonight was absolutely amazing. At one point we were holding one of the tech plants in Indar. Air was scrambled against the heavy forces of AOD and TE. I took up my Skyguard and let rounds fly. I was able to help push enemy air off of friendly air, armor, and infantry. The rest of armor pulled 3 vanguards which proceeded to decimate all nearby armor. They used perfectly choreographed focus fire to sweep armor whole sale. We may have been few in numbers but we were a force to be reckoned with. Even at losses of tanks, air, and infantry we did so well moral never took a hit. I was having so much fun that even when I lost my tank I still had a good laugh.
I've now been rolling with SMG for nine months and I can honestly say that it's truly a unique experience. The level of tactics and communication are leaps and bounds ahead of most outfits, and given our numbers we still managed to leave a substantial mark on the battlefield. If you're tired of the mindless zergs, or you just want a higher level of tactical team work, definitely check us out.
If you want to stand up to an enemy twice your number, and still come out on top, then SMG's your place. Sounds dorky, but seriously. We've got the best tactics/teamwork in infantry, one of the very few ORGANIZED armor units in the game, and some of the top NC pilots on the server in our air division. I've only been a part of SMG for a couple of weeks now but I can honestly say that it is the best coordinated outfit the NC on Mattherson has.
