Hey guys, bumping and adding this:

    http://www.planetside-universe.com/outfit_leaderboard.php?server=Mattherson&members=48
SMG #2 ranking for 48 players or more on Mattherson. I'm aware it's just based on experience..but still cool to see.

As Cappy said: If the odds are even, SMG will win every time.

SMG is recruiting all divisions: Armor, Infantry, and Air.

We run Friday nights for ops, and one other night per week (depending on division) for training nights. Training nights consist of 1 hour training, and then putting the training into practice. Good stuff.

As for "what you play": What you play on off-nights is almost entirely up to you. Sometimes we'll ask certain things (hey can you pull a galaxy, w/e)...on ops nights we run with our divisions and roll face. Simple as that. Join up.

Welcome to all the new [SMG] members.

It is an honor to serve as the NCOIC of the Air Division - aka the "Ravens". We currently practice and train Tuesday nights at 8:30 est and do joint OPs with our Infantry and Armor divisions Friday at 8:30 est. When we aren't officially training, we are running Open Air squads to allow Mattherson NC the chance to get a feel of how we run our Division. We provide one on one piloting training for new pilots and combat training for more advanced pilots. Look for us if you are interested in finding a wingman! Also, PM me here or look for me ingame if you have any questions about SMG in general.

As you can see from this very forum, there are a lot of options if you are playing NC. Often it is a bit difficult to find the right "fit" when it comes to finding an outfit that feels right. I encourage you to give our group a chance. You will see why I am so passionate about Sunder Military Gaming. We have a lot to offer both casual AND hardcore players.

You can find our ingame contact people in our main post!

Was asked a few days ago, why I joined Sunder and to post it in the forums. Leadership was curious to know these stories from the members to see just where we stood and how far we could be pushed to achieve the goals that Sunder is build around. I both had to think hard on this but then it was also very easy for me. So i sat down and typed out something that was longer then I thought it was going to be.

--Editted to remove a friends name and keep the flow with the name removed, but otherwise posted word for word--

"Hmm.. Why did I join?. Good and tough question at the same time.

To be fair I should start by mentioning that I never really had a love for games that had or were player vs player. Since the games usual mechcanics meant that if you weren't there at the start of the game, and joined in later you were at a huge disadvantage to others that had been playing and leveled up their characters, and even weapons, skills, powers, etc to do more damage. I'm sure there are those that can join a game late like that, and just dominate the game with starting gear, but i'm not one of them so it would fustrate me.

Wasn't till I got Battlefield 2 Bad Company that I started to warm up to PvP, as it was more about your own skill that would lead to living or dying. Least till the servers for Multiplayer play got over ran with hacks and bots. But never really joined a group that was part of that scene just joined in to relieve stress, and have fun least till as I said the game went to hell with hacks and bots.

I stumbled upon Planetside 2 from a video on youtube, where the guy did a couple of toturials on shootings and flying. Made be take a look at the game, and was impressed. First started the game up and made a VS (ya ya boo, evil and all that [IMG]) just to mess around and get a feel for the game, but the server i was on, and the times i played it was just dead. So kinda put the game on the back burner till.. A friend picked the game up and fired it back up, and joined the NC. Really just to enjoy the game with her, but upon joining a server with actual people around when i was. Helped me see that (with the expection of Shotguns) even a new player can rank up easily and enjoy the game.

As i got more into the game and even started to subscribe to it, I thought I should find a group of fun people to run with. So just hot dropped into action and joined random squads, and platoons through the hotkey for it. Ran with TAS, NC10, TENC and even GOON, never joined those outfits just ran with their open squads. Over the coms they sounded fun, but over all it was just a bunch of go here and cover this, without much looking out for eachother. Really was just mod rushing and though it helped me cert up, wasn't that enjoyable in the whole.

I learned of Sunder from a friend, who to my understanding found you through an open squad. She told me about your mindset, and that you were fun to hang out with. Who has been a good friend for about 6 years now, so have trust in her judgement, but that wasn't to say I wasn't hesitate about it. I got to hang out with some of you when I was invited one night that my friend was on, and had a great time, holding I beleive it was sky dock mesa, with only like 7 of us from a good platoon at least till it was just getting too much. Needless to say my hesitation about if you were a good group went away after that, cause people can say they do something but till you see it or experience it for yourself its hard to believe.

At first my biggest reason for submitting my application to join Sunder was how much respect you showed my friend. Just paying attention to her posts, and making her feel like part of the group was huge for me. Cause some of the ouftits i ran in under open squad, they would just ignore the chat box, be it in the heat of battle or not and was sad that it happened espicailly when the person typing would leave because he/she was being ignored. So thank you for making my friend a part of the group in more then just name, even if she did join before me.

Secondly, I liked that Sunder is tactical and has a military mindset to it, having plans before going out and changing them on the fly as the situation calls for it. It is what I'm looking for in an outfit, guild, clan or whatever for this type of game. I know from a personal stand point I'm just a casual gamer, but I can follow lead and even learn as I go ago and get training or just aide as needed. I doubt I would ever get into a postion of leadership here, as thats just not for me. But who knows what could happen if I keep hanging out with you all and learning from everyone too.

I've been apart of Sunder for about two weeks now, and I've enjoyed the time I've been here. I feel like i'm part of something special by being in Sunder. Cause seeing and being part of a group that actually lives up to the whole Honor, Loyalty and Friendship, and not just say it to attract people is Awesome. And its not just when doing training or main Ops. Its there even on off nights and just hanging out to mess with the TR and VS, which makes me know that I made the right choice in applying and joining Sunder.

Playing Planetside a game is all well an good, with fighting for exp and certs by running with a zerg, it works but gets so old rather fast. Being part of Sunder and helping to take and holds bases against larger forces because of the level of communcation that goes on, to help spot threats and even flank them. It makes the game feel more alive and worth the time I spend in it, Hell even when we would lose a base against larger forces, knowing we made them fight for every foot of the place is still a great feeling.
(though being in a sunder and dying cause the driver is drunk and thinks the wheels are on the roof, that kinda sucks. xD)

If I regret anything about being part of sunder, is that I can't take part of the full training that goes on. With me working nights I can maybe be in for an hour for the training, which so far has been enough to get some general directions of how the group works, but no real practice in. I do want to improve and better contribute just not sure how or who would have the most free time on weekends to help me out. Cause it does suck knowing I'm missing on the bulk of training, and just winging it come ops by following lead and orders. Which has worked out so far, but probably won't forever.

I suppose all in all. I Joined Sunder because it heard and expereinced what a great group you are, and stuck with you from how you choose to play Planetside, and just the ideals that you believe in inspire me. "

Its only been a few days said I wrote those words, and i still stick by them. SMG is a great group and does amazing things even with just a handful of people just playing the game to have fun and come ops nights when we all get together. Those amazing things get even better.

Thank tveoh for sharing your story with the community!

    Planetside 2 community,

It is both a pleasure and an honor to be able to lead such an outstanding group of players and friends! "honor, loyalty, friendship! We are dedicated, WE are SUNDER!" is such a simple yet powerful message that we bring to our community. It is this concept that drives us to be better then the other outfits!

Honor - means we will never hack or exploit broken game mechanics to get an edge over other players. We believe in a fair fight and that means going toe to toe on equil terms. As many in the community know, there was an unfair cert point issued out and instead of using these points to gain an upper hand, Sunder members opted to request from customer service for these points to be removed. We want to be able to say "we won because we are the best at what we do, not at how decked out we are."

Loyalty - to each other and the community. It means you will never go into a fight alone. You will always have someone guarding your back when the need comes. With an active forum and Teamspeak, members in Sunder constantly demonstrate this by offering up strategic suggestions and observations so that we are constantly improving how we operate in a combined arms manner.

Friendship - we want to give all our members a place they can come to unwind from their normal lives. For us that means we strive to get to know all our members on a personal basis. You will never be just another member in Sunder. Those that wish to put forth the effort will rise to awe inspiring levels within our ranks and brotherhood.

Dedication - with two nights a week for main operations (or more) and with a more then 60% outfit turn out for those events we are a highly active and engaged group of games. Tuesday night ops is our main training night to help new and old players alike improve on our skill and communication. Friday know ops is our night to shine as an outfit. We also conduct ops through out the week as well to continue growing as an outfit and as a community togethe!

My challenge to the community of planetside 2 is to try Sunder Military Gaming and see for yourself if our claims are true. I garuntee that once you try us you will be hooked for the rest of your gaming careers.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on the battlefield!

I have been playing with SMG since January and playing PS2 since August. I can most definitely say my time in SMG has completely changed the way I look at PS2. I was starting to get burnt out of PS2 but joining SMG has been awesome and revitalized my enjoyment of PS2. There is nothing better then hoping in to PS2 and being able to join a squad of SMG members and actually feel like you are a part of a team. The communication is amazing and having other members support you is great. For anyone looking for teamwork, comradery and fun I would suggest giving SMG a look.

    bumping this;

SMG is recruiting pilots, infantry, and armor. Our armor division has really taken off lately, they've got tactics and structure that really no one else has. Awesome stuff.

During beta I joined one of the SMG's open squad and had a blast! High organization, leadership and a group of skilled players.
I applied on the foruns and joined the outfit. A little bit after the game release, I decided to change faction, but I only have good things to say about SMG. As TR, one of the few NC outfits that I respect!
    Cheers!

We aren't the biggest outfit on Mattherson. But we punch over our weight. Check us out and see for yourself.

Sunder Military gaming conducted our weekly training ops last Tuesday night. After each ops we try and write AARs (After Action Review) to help improve our gameplay one of our members had this to say

"The goal I set for the night was to cut off the TR Platoons at Jaeger’s Crossing. That meant pushing North and Northwest behind enemy lines and up to their warp gate. I am thrilled to say that was a complete success! While we can’t take all the credit, SMG was a critical part of ultimately pushing the TR out of Jaeger’s Crossing.

We started the night by moving towards The Traverse since The Pit had been recently captured by the NC. However, once we got in the area The Pit was under heavy attack and needed help. Changing targets from The Traverse to The Pit on the fly disorganized our forces. Infantry hit The Pit first but it took some time for the other elements to fall back. From now on I’ll make sure we start at the last hot spot (The Pit in this case) and then move out from there. Even if it’s empty at least it keeps us together and it’s just a quick touch and go stop.

Moving on to The Traverse wasn’t bad since part of our forces had already secured the area. Air reported a heavy Mosquito presence in the area and warned us about potential trouble. Unfortunately what we thought would be an enemy air squad turned out to be a full TE platoon of Mosquitoes just zerging the air.

We lost our Reavers in Air Division pretty quickly and they immediately switched to a FOB setup with heavy FLAK. Infantry moved in to help but the Mosquito zerg came right down on us in an open area and destroyed most of our vehicles.

Infantry forces survived the attack so Popgun had us push forward towards Snowshear Watchtower. It was a bit of a hike but on the way I spotted a large satellite structure the FOB could use for cover once it was re-established. Ghost pulled some Skyguards to help and Air pulled together a new FOB.

A huge TE force moved over us at max height. Reports from coalition said about 80 Mosquitoes showed up at Jaeger’s Crossing. However, after a short time, reinforcements from the TR warp gate attempted to move the same direction but not flying at max height. We lit them up and stopped any chance of more TR forces reaching Jaeger’s Crossing. Our allies back at Jaeger’s, especially AACE, cleaned up the air zerg and had clear skies the rest of the night.

Props to Air and Ghost for taking the initiative to pull AA. I didn’t order that, Foozle just told me they were establishing a FOB once they lost their Reavers and air superiority. Ghost followed suit, again with no command from me. This was a critical point during that night that led to the TR being pushed out.
Once we had most of the NW locked down I decided to take us back to Jaeger’s Crossing. I knew it wouldn’t be an exciting fight, but I was tired of the TR holding it and the NC failing to take it back. Sunder needed to show them how it’s done.

This is the one area we stumbled as an outfit. Armor knew a good position to take on the ridge overlooking Jaeger’s Crossing and I gave them the OK to set up there. I also ordered the other squads to the same area. Armor moved on ahead but the rest of the forces became engaged by Prowlers while trying to leave. Most jumped out of their Suderers to fight back and only a few tanks from Armor were still with us.

We took some losses and had to clear out a nearby outpost to form up again. I know our Armor guys would have rolled right over that Prowler group but they had already left. At the same time I think all of the infantry and Sunderers we had could have moved quicker to leave the area.

I’d like to work on our combined force movements when we’re traveling large distances. There’s no reason not to support each other. Armor can protect the Sunderers from tanks and Infantry can cover the Armor elements if there is a heavy infantry presence.

Finally down at Jaeger’s Crossing we had two more highlights. The first was Armor just looking sexy. The Coalition noticed their formations and coordination and that’s just great PR for us. People can see that we’re disciplined and coordinated, not just a bunch of SMG tags zerging around aimlessly. And Skep knew the terrain and chose an excellent location for us to set up.

The last highlight was a great Sunder Bomb. I know we had some complaints about its execution, but it worked. I had watched Jaeger’s Crossing stay in TR control all night. A few times I thought it would flip but the NC could never close the deal. Infantry hitting point A with a Sunder Bomb ended it.

It was a great night and things seemed to just work. I give most of that credit to our Division/Squad Leads who stepped up immediately last night no questions asked and took control of their people. I gave out objectives, they made it happen.

Thanks to everyone who showed up last night, you guys performed amazingly. It’s this kind of discipline and coordination that really makes SMG shine. I hope you all had fun and I’m looking forward to the next Op!"

Thanks Ryucon for writing this AAR and leading an outstanding ops!
