I have finally gotten the Gauss prime (auraxium medic assault rifle) and I really have to say... It is extremely disappointing. I am going to heavily compare this to the NC1 Gauss Rifle and the Gauss Rifle S. Handling: I loved the NC1 Gauss Rifle and it is my favorite assault rifle with the A-Tross. I was expecting the Gauss Prime to be a NC1 Gauss Rifle but with better long range capabilities like it says in it's description. However in my opinion this is the opposite. At long range this weapon does not perform well, the included HVA ammo makes the weapon kick like the Gauss Saw, this is fine because Vertical recoil is easy to counteract. The problem is it's side to side recoil which makes it almost impossible to tap fire at distant enemies and get multiple hits. I find myself emptying the magazine at distant targets without killing them, and only getting the assist if anything... Combat Scenarios: -Long Range I have already gone over this with handling. The Reaper DMR and NC9 A-Tross outperform this weapon by a lot at this range. -Medium Range At medium range this weapon still ins't as good as the NC1 or the Gauss Rifle S because it seems like the Cone of Fire spreads far to fast, at medium range I needed to five burst at enemies to attempt to kill them. However this ended up having me killed with the small pause. Even with aiming at the head and getting multiple headshots I found myself being dropped more than I would the Gauss Rifle S. Here the HVA ammo really hurts the weapon because I could just pick up the Gauss Rifle S and not have the extra recoil to worry about and zone in those headshots better, kill them faster even with the same damage type and slower RoF. The slower RoF also helps with longer range engagements making the Gauss Rifle S easier to use at medium to long range. The Nc1 also out performs the Gauss Prime for the same reason as the Gauss Rifle S. -Close Range Please! No More!!!!!! This weapons cone of fire makes it irritating to use at close range. At close range you can easily full auto the Gauss Rifle S and NC1 without the recoil moving off the target and the cone of fire firing all around the target. Now at point blank this weapon is just horrendous. It has a terrible Hip fire, DO NOT TRY TO HIPFIRE!!!!! It will get you dead very, very quickly! Aiming down sights at point blank was also a big no-no as the extra recoil added made my crosshairs deviate from the enemy, even with the 1x sight. Verdict: The Gauss Prime just is not a weapon that should be used with the arsenal available to the NC medic. The NC1 and Gauss Rifle S outperform it at every range, The Reaper DMR and NC9 A-Tross extremely outperforming it at long range (and even close quarters). The Carnage AR and GR-22 taking the Close quarters slot. The added recoil goes against what the description of the weapon says about effortlessly dropping distant targets. (I recommend the A-Tross here). The Gauss Prime is just extremely lackluster and if you are an NC medic who is grinding to get this weapon because you believe it will be like an upgraded NC1 or Gauss Rifle S I would stop right now... Hang your head, then pick it up again then grab the medic weapon you currently like and enjoy it... because this is just not enjoyable... Right now and until there is a buff or I am able to take the HVA off, this weapon will always be a benchwarmer... I can't even bring myself to auraxiuming this weapon because of the bad taste it put in my mouth after I went hardcore for a week. Enjoy playing the medic... do not force yourself to dislike playing the game to get this weapon. Weapon Recommendations over the Gauss Prime: -Long Range NC9 A-Tross (Headshot machine, very controllablealso good in close quarters if you can get the hipfire crosshairs over them quickly!) -Medium Range No NC weapons are truly Medium Range -Close Range Gr-22 Carnage AR (A bit longer range then Gr-22 -All Around NC1 Gauss Rifle Gauss Rifle S (If you want a bit more contollability - access to compensator. Otherwise NC1 is better) Hope I helped you guys with this review, I do realize I stated some things as facts but these are all just my opinions. Good luck In-Game guys! -CrimsonEpsilon
wow its really that bad? And here I was trying to actually unlock it (2 guns auraxed, almost on 3rd). If it really sux that much then I guess I'll go bak to mah DMR.
Sad Auzor is sad :-( It is as I feared. (quoting Gandalf ) Anyway: are the spreadsheets correct, does the HVA give zero m/s improvement? For the GodSaw, the "free" HVA gives: +70m/s velocity, +20m dmg drop-off for no extra recoil. Even so, most would argue the godsaw to be "meh", because it didn't get the 0.4 ads accuracy. It now has smaller mag, but faster reload. Gauss Prime vs GodSaw: well, no 3x headshot kill at all ranges, but more rpm is nice I suppose. +20m damage drop-off, no velocity increase, for 10% extra recoil yeah.. in terms of HVA benefits, the Gauss Prime got a pretty bad part of the stick. +20m damage drop-off, for a weapon that only drops 1 damage tier. Ironically, something like +70 m/s velocity, +20m damage drop-off & no extra recoil could be great on the NC carbine directive; but they gave SPA (which is also nice) However, as for your stats: if you love the NC1, there is something iffy going on.. The Gauss Prime has a forward grip, has a compensator, so even with HVA, the vertical recoil should be lower than NC1, according to the stats. Likewise, Cone of Fire and burst firing should be the same as per NC1; same bloom/shot. The compensator does change the angle of the pull perhaps.. Other than that, it should be only the hipfire which is worse than the NC1. (compensator, and no access to laser sight) Oh, and both the NC1 and the S are "medium range" weapons? What would you consider a medium range weapon?
Well, I probably should have said all-around. There really isn't a defined medium range weapon, The Nc1 and S just excel in all manners. As for the CoF and burst firing it feels very different then the NC1 and S. Somehow whenever I switch back and fourth from the NC1 and GP I always find myself landing more hits while holding down the trigger in cqc. Whereas the GP's CoF will go to it's maximum spread in a little over half the time. The Stats do say they are the same but whenever I pick it up the weapon feels and handles much differently. If you would like you can check out my NC1 and GP stats. The NC1 is my most used weapon.
^ Greentext is my input. And yes, as someone who's auraxed the Gauss Prime, I concur with OP's statement. I personally think they need to bring the Gauss Prime in line with the GODSAW's recent removal of HVA bloom, while still giving some of the HVA benefits.
I still don't get why the Prime would be less accurate than the NC1 cuz it seems like its stats are pretty much the same with regards to the COF bloom and what not. But I guess that is more of a psychological thing more so than hard numbers? Disregarding the accuracy comparison, how does the recoil bias feel? One thing I never liked about the NC1 or Guass S is the 23/25 deg pull to right (I know most probably love it but it never clicked with me). Does the prime seem like it has less of a right pull (i.e. smaller angle to the right)? This is what's been bugging me the most and I would really love to know from people who've used the gun for a while now.
After having used the Prime since I returned from my several months hiatus (over which time the Gauss Prime had the negative effect of it's HVA bloom removed!), I've come to find that it's a decent weapon at range, but not much else. I would personally take this over an NS-11A with the same attachments (Optic of your preference, compensator, and forward grip), but it's certainly a weapon that specializes in ranged use. I highly advise against using this weapon within 20m. That said, it feels much like the Gauss Rifle S with the same attachments, but a taste higher fire rate (and thus, TTK as well).
So finally unlocked the Gauss Prime today myself..and honestly kinda disappointed in it. http://planetside.wikia.com/wiki/Gauss_Prime states that the right pull angle should be less than the original Gauss and Gauss-S but I have not noticed any visual difference, which leads me to believe there isn't any difference. My biggest gripe with the original Gauss rifles were the right pull angle and I was SO hoping this would lighten that pull some. Guess not. It really just feels like the regular NC1 with no real unique difference in traits at all, save for the ever so slightly reduced vert recoil. Just really wish they would make it more unique so it feels like I am actually using a brand new gun that I grinded over 5k kills for..not some copy and paste with slightly tweaked stats (which really was what the NC1 vs Gauss-S was anyway). What a waste of time
