Nanoweave since the update

radar dart that is horrendously expensive to max (1860c) up to gu10 didn't give any xp. Prox mines are also countered by NW so there is that.
Also 100m is not 30m-50m as it is now.
would you call that ridge camping?
  2. Tristan

I call that being unable to make good decisions. Why didn't you immediately pull out your pistol and finish him off?
  3. Vaphell

sub 30 if you feel like silencing your entry and midlevel bolt action, sub 50 if you feel like silencing your ubertoptier rifle shooting 5" shells. Do you see the difference?
  4. Vaphell

it's not my video and if it happened to me i'd be as dumbfounded as m44v who recorded this. Do you seriously expect not to kill with a bolt action to the head at an smg range? Since when is sniper supposed to correct the issue with a sidearm when he has a bigass cannon shooting once every 1.5-2 seconds that should lop any head off clean?

LOL, I am TOTALLY down for some side-grade negating the PA one-hit-kill. Those guns are garbage in most players hands, but at the right skill level and above they become incredibly OP.
  6. Tristan

Since this is a game and not real life, and one-shot kills out of nowhere are universally not fun. Do you enjoy being one-shotted by pump actions? How about a pump action used by someone who can cloak and easily hit you from 200m?

People need to realize that Nanoweave really is mostly to counter snipers. Except as a heavy with resist shield, it doesn't add all that much for normal firefights... one or two bullets.

Getting one-shot killed means nothing in a game where you can be killed in no-time-flat by any weapon and then respawn nearly instantaneously at no cost or loss and somewhere near-by. If it happens so often, no matter what you do, then yes it will make the game not fun. But the occasional death? Really?

Look at your death stats. Were you unhappy every time you died? Why not? Because it is part of the game, and you don't get penalised for dying, and it did not happen over and over.

Your argument could be used against ANY weapon - "dying is not fun, all weapons should shoot flowers!".

Evidence, please. From my view point, it might not be heading further away from Planetside (there is no 1), but it is not really getting any closer either. Base design is the most obvious point - bases are a collection of little square rooms with no doors, sensors, automated turrets, ect. You couldn't be any further away from Planetside with this. The sabotage playstyle of the old infiltrator is completely missing. The specialised vehicle-deploying team-mates are missing and instead vehicles are now throw-away toys that are fairly rubbish (except against the infiltrator, in which case they are uber gods). Continent lockdowns are missing.

One thing that they have done is to bring the lattice links back - at last. I admit, I started playing again when the infiltrator update was due and the lattice links came back out - then the update got pushed back and my second favourite playstyle got screwed. Well, there goes the money I was preparing to spend on the game, as well as the recommendations I was going to give to my friends to come back and play again.

As I said, I'll keep an eye open and see what the infiltrator update brings. If no dice, then I'm out of here.
  8. Vaphell

if you are easily hit from 200m and often enough for you to be a problem, it's a clear l2p thing on your part, sorry.
I don't enjoy pump actions to the face, nor do I enjoy prowlers, scout ESFs, omnipresent MAXes I can't do **** against, but i don't see them nerfed to oblivion by a combination of idiotic numbers and an insanely good passive.
Btw, pump action is a no-skill weapon - instagib on body shot as long as range is ok not to mention relatively fast fire rate allowing for error corrections and mass murders, there is no comparison.

The difference is that over 90% of the time, I know the what, who, how, and why of those other deaths. I died to that heavy because I rounded a corner right into him. I died to that light assault because I tried to kill him outside of effective SMG range. I died to that max because I think shooting maxes is funny. I died to the tank because I was out in the open. You can't seriously pretend that one-shot sniper kills are the same as anything else. The closest weapon in this game is a pump action shotgun.
  10. Tristan

And if you think that snipers are worthwhile while only getting 8-9 kills per hour, assuming your forum name is the same as your player, then you're just being willfully ignorant.
  11. Vaphell

do you always use ad hominems to knock down legit arguments? I don't like meatgrinders and prefer skirmishes, i reverse ghostcaps, i can climb 5 minutes to get one extreme menace engineer camping on top of the mountain - sue me.

And yet, you think that having to sometimes shoot someone twice with a rifle, or shoot them once and fire a few pistol shots, is 'nerfed to oblivion'.
  13. Aimeryan

Vaphell, I can only conclude from all this that Tristan likes to stand around and then complain when he receives a headshot. It only makes sense that he would love something that would make such a failure not matter.

Again, if you're mounting a suppressor and becoming harder to detect, they want you to be closer to increase the risk. If your numbers are correct however, I would be in favor of the suppressor being buffed in the damage degradation category to give a little better OSK range, but not much. I think around 100m is a good place for a guaranteed OSK using the a top tier unsuppressed bolt action, 80m for suppressed top tier & unsuppressed entry level bolt action, and 60m suppressed for entry bolt action.

60m is still pretty far away in regards to non-sniper weapons.
  15. Vaphell

if that rifle shoots once per 2 seconds in a game with a TTK of 0.5s max then yes, i consider that nerfed to oblivion. Do you have to pull pistol to finish pump action's job?
  16. Tristan

I love that it's so easy to find someone's detailed stats in this game. It makes it really easy to disregard people who are obviously bad players.
  17. Aimeryan

Tell me someone else sees the irony here? He is happy with something killing him because the situation suited the other player, then complains that snipers are unfair. Then he says snipers hardly get any kills. Huh?

Tristan, snipers don't just look at you and you die. You seem to realise this with the fact that they don't have as many kills per hour as other classes. Yet, you are happy when other classes do it because the situation was in their favour?

Snipers headshotting targets at long-distance requires far more skill and occurs far less often than that "heavy because I rounded a corner right into him" blasting things apart does. The sniper rifles in this game are not hitscan.

Here is a hint: keep moving, preferably unpredictably, and use cover. THAT is how you counter a sniper.

Sorry, it doesn't take anywhere near as much more skill as you think it does. I pull out the rifle almost every day. The irony in this thread is someone arguing that sniping is / should be useful when they can't even put up enough numbers themselves to make it seem useful. Better players might be able to get those numbers, but forcing someone to respawn and doing NOTHING ELSE because you're 200 meters away is still an extremely low-gain playstyle.

What you're failing to grasp is that the majority of snipers have almost no impact on the flow of battle. What little impact they do have usually manifests as just annoying people, which is not good game design.

'Waaah ad hominem attacks!" - The fall back to no excuse for why a player is awful.
  19. Aimeryan

What you are failing to grasp is none of that matters. This is not real life. This is a game, and people play it to have fun. Effectiveness only matters to the extent of how it affects people's enjoyment. If people can enjoy something without it being effective then who are you to argue with them?

P.S. It is just cute that you think a Heavy rounding a corner and shooting someone is anywhere near the same skill level as a sniper making a headshot from long-distance. You obviously just have something against snipers and arguing with you is pointless. It is the dev's opinions we care about, and if they don't want long-distance sniping then that is that. Whether or not you do, however...
  20. Vaphell

not that far to be honest, protip: never get into duels with HAs sporting modded LMGs at 100m, you will lose.
Either way it would be 2x better that what we have now. 2. x. better.
