Specs i5 2500k @3.3ghz 8GB ram 3333mhz 560 Ti GeForce Framerate Info Framerate on live is running at about 75-80 at the warpgate. On Test is is running at 85-90. If I turn smoothing on, on Test, it drops to 55-65. Also on Test I am noticing hitches and hiccups in framerate I did not have before. These are most noticeable when flying or firing. Anything that involves allot of turning of the camera. I am unsure if these hitches are due to the new smoothing option on Test. Overall a small improvement with either lots of things are going on or not. I played on test with the same settings I run on live. Settings All settings on Ultra shadows low fog shadows off motion blur off Ambient Occlusion off 74 degree view angle 6000 render distance Windowed mode. 1680x1000
I have a similar rig as you . Only i don't play on Ultra, I use Medium with only textures turned up. I'll just copy/paste my post from Reddit if interested: i5 3450 CPU @3.10 Ghz ( not overclocked ) Zotac Nvidia GTX 560ti ( Current Non Beta Drivers ) 8 GB of some generic *** RAM ****** Slow *** WD 5,400 RPM HardDrive 2TB First of all, I am not a victim of the stuttering problem that i see a lot of people talking about. I've tested in air, ground vehicles , on foot, no shuttering what-so-ever. So far only able to test at the Crown ( only place with a fight atm ) Large battle over 100 players at/around the crown easily. I'm getting anywhere from 40-80 FPS ( 150 FPS if i look at the ground ) Medium Settings with only Textures turned up to High. Full Render distance. In areas with no players i'm getting a steady 80 FPS . I seem to always be GPU locked , which is great. I played around with the new "smoothing" option which seems to work a lot like VSync - With smooth turned on i'm setting a solid 60FPS everywhere i go, big battle at the crown, flying , isolated areas, ect. I'm a fan of the smoothing. Something about seeing my FPS jumping around like crazy makes me crazy . Overall My experience on the test server so far has been great. I havn't ran into any bugs myself ( even though i know they are out there ). I played for about an hour or more at the crown. I'm very pleased with the results i'm seeing. I'm actually killing things more often, my aim has improved greatly. Turns out i don't suck as bad as i thought i did, i just needed some optimization action!
I have a vastly different rig. AMD Phenom II x4 B55 @ 4.01ghz (2 cores unlocked, 27% overclock) GTX 560 Superclocked Edition (overclocked just a tad more) Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1333mhz @ 1794mhz (34% overclock) Crucial 120GB SSD (running game off 500Gb Barracuda 7200.11) W7 Home Premium 64 bit Just fought a 25-48 v 25-48 battle at The Crown for about 30-45 min. Before, I'd get about 30fps there at best. Today, with settings on Ultra minus Ambient Occlusion, Fog Shadows and Motion Blur I got 50-55fps. I turned it down to my usual settings: Ultra minus shadows, motion blur and only graphics quality on low (it makes things really vivid and clear) and was getting 60-75fps. Empty - lightly populated bases I was getting 102-115fps, flipping back and forth between GPU and CPU bound. Also, none of the stuttering/hitching I get on live servers was present. It was a very smooth experience overall. I am shocked at the performance increase Ive seen. Its ~ 100% better FPS than before.
