There is something that isn´t clear to me. If an enemy is in range of the motion spotter, is it automatically detected or must he "Q" the spotter?
They aint spotted, they show up on the minimap, like if they were spotted. Unless ofc, if they crouch, then they dont show up.
Thanks for the answer, but i meant the motion spotter itself. What I meant was, must the enemy hit Q to make the spotter visible on his map.
Motion spotters can be Q'd which will show up to everyone near you on the hud, like AV turrets When placed it will just show up on the minimap to everyone enemy or ally automatically. It is an extremely useful tool and I suggest more people cert it and use it
Ok Thanks. That´s what i wanted to know. I use the spotter and place it by a sunderer or when I´m sniping alone to save me. When I play with an smg I spam the darts everywhere when I find an ammo box, to help my team. I don´t understand why people don´t do this more often.
Ever since they moved proximity radar to the defense slot on my repair sundy I put one down whenever I am stationary for more than a few seconds. Wonderful tool. Such a silly little thing can change the outcome of an entire battle yet very few infiltrators put them down when defending an objective. Come to think of it I don't recall seeing a single bus with proximity radar on it for quite a few months...is there a tactical disadvantage to dropping a motion spotter beside a deployed bus? I'm mean let's face it..C4 is on the way..just a matter of when.
This is a great tactic, equip the us with effective means of fending off those fairies (bulldog and Kobalt maybe) keep an infiltrator on one of those guns to hop out and pop up new RDDs and you have an effective spawn....... Unless the tanks find you. only downside I can see is that the enemy may be able to see the dart on the mini map and come looking for the infil and accidentally stumble upon your sundy meaning its location will be exposed prematurely.
Sorry to break it to you, there is a difference between scout radar and proximity radar. Scout Radar = Radar for everyone on your faction so long as someone is crewing the vehicle (ESF and Flash only) Proximity Radar = Radar only for those currently crewing a vehicle. Proximity Radar used to be great for a battle sundy back when it was utility slot and fire suppression didn't heal you, but as you rightly say, if you're driving aggressively, blockade armour is better, if you're deployed as AMS, blockade + motion spotter is better.
Ya I kinda figured that out when I jumped out of my bus and all the wonderful red dots vanished. So I found a solution....never get out of the bus!
Motion spotter by default always shows up on everyone's radar until it is destroyed, new one is placed, or class switch. Things to note about recon darts and motion spotters: *Standing still does not generate a radar signature.*Spinning in place does not generate a radar signature.*Repeatingly bashing your crouch key does not generate a radar signature.*Jumping DOES generate a radar signature. (Though with a recon dart if you time the pulses right it probably won't show up.)*Any form of walking/running/sprinting, positional movement, generates a radar signature.*Recon darts are destructible by gunfire/explosions/EMPs, same goes for motion spotters.^ Because Recon darts have some form of gunfire collision that means they can block explosions too but not very well. (We put 20 darts on a C4 and had someone stand on it while it explode, they took some damage but they survived. It's not a good alternative to flak armor.) Any type of radar attach to a vehicle will always find enemies with-in range whether they are moving or not. (I know this is true for flash and ESFs, not sure about armored vehicles)
Yeah I got a radar on my flash. Sometimes when i have nothing better to do, i just sit on the flash near the enemy base, to help the others with my radar. Sadly you get so few xp for this. It´s all not very rewarding. Also the sundy thing. Why doesn´t you get a defender bonus or something like that. If you stayed at the sundy and protected it, you earn 2 certs or something like this. I see all the time that they get damaged and no one repairs.
That's mostly correct, but looks like it's from an older list I made a while back. Specifically this needs correction: *Walking does not reveal you. Only sprint-mode movement is captured. The darts-as-flak armor is new to me though! I wonder if enough in a doorway can block a grenade... And here's another that could be added to the list: * tea-bagging does not generate a radar signature. As far as vehicles, proximity radar (tanks, sunderers) only reveals radar signatures to people within the vehicle, and the criteria are, as far as I can tell, identical to the darts/spotters regarding who is seen. (motionless will generate no ping). Scout radar though (flash and ESF) means you're screwed regardless of your actions. Though today's patch notes have me wondering if something has changed, since they say this: Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Do they mean they now "only" detect player movement? Or did it previously say that they did not detect player movement? Won't know until I get in the game, but I'm confused by it.
