Of course, it's peoples own choice if they want to be PL or SL. But it doesn't matter how you are doing it, you will always have less action, because have to mapping a lot, keeping your group in check and communicating (luckily for people with a mic, like me, it's much more doable but there are always people who don't use voip..both receiving and sending). So I think it would be fair to give these people a reward for leading. With the double exp weekend I got bombed a PL, and the first evening I hardly got extra exp because I was too busy leading. It got me thinking. We spend half the evening with 1 platoon defending Jaegers Crossing from the VS, we were 1 platoon against at least 2 platoons (if not more). We accomplished this crazy task mainly because I was a light assault on top of the tower, yelling out every sunderer. So they could never spawn close. I hardly got exp that evening, but we were hella succesful as a group. A platoon or squad can be concidered succesful when capturing a piece of land, or succesfully defend it. At this point I think it should be ok to get a reward. I think the amount of reward should be influenced by the amount of (enemy and friendly) activity in the piece of land. Battlefield 2 had teamleaders, and when winning they actually got a load of exp.
Planetside solved this by giving everyone in the squad (platoon?) a piece of the XP pie when someone got a kill. Could be a good way to do it. Really though we don't need too many rewards because there's no CEP in the game and the last thing I want is SL to become a 'set up squad, get free ****' setup. Grab someone else in your outfit who's tactically minded and switch off SLing, it can be draining at times and it's good to take a break and mindless kill things.
Ohh, I didn't know that everyone gains from a kill within platoon/squad. That's a good way to solve it as well. You are right that we don't need many rewards. Imo the game is close to perfect as it is.
