[Suggestion] Medic Directive - Why so centered around kills for a support class?

As someone who plays medic alot, it frustrates me to see my medic directive line hardly progressing. This is due to the focus of the directive line, 3/5 of the directives, being on kills (Medic Kills - Savior Kills - Overall Kills). This should not be the case. I suggest something like this:

Revive Assists (If you revive someone and they get a kill within 5 seconds, you receive a small bonus and credit towards ribbon and directive line)

Medical Streak (credit for this is gained by reviving or healing 2 or more people within a single life)

These would replace the "Savior Kills" and "Enemy Medic Kills". I also believe, as a support class, the "Overall Kills" should be halved from 1200 to 600 kills.
The Engineer class should also have similar alterations, I just don't see how support classes should have to contend with the amount of kills needed for classes such as the Heavy and Light Assault.

i agree with the medic kills in the directive tree, but 'credit for reviving/healing 2 people' is a bit low

its easier to get the savior kills done than the medic kills

the idea with those 'revive assists' sounds pretty nice

    btw... its 3/6 about kills

It's a *Combat Medic*, which is PS2 for Medium Assault. That's why. ;)

All directive lines could use a tune-up. As it is, too many of them complete all together.

    Haha, very true.

Yeah maybe 2 is a bit low...

Its a glorified medical kit. Its place is hiding behind the heavies and maxes throwing out rezzes and health not firing the popgun.

i play the combat medic pretty defensively, not focusing much on the 'combat', but more on the 'medic', but if you are not instantly heal someone who is asking for, because you focus on an enemy you want to kill, chances are high, that you will be shot by the (mostly not very high br) guy that requested a heal. pretty much the most stupid thing you can do

so - combat medics that focus more on the 'combat' are not very welcome by some people

And I've seen assaults/defenses crumble because the medics were to busy playing around with their popgun to rez any of the guys laying around them.

    +1
    there AR directives

I'd rather get revived once the area is clear / secure than get tossed reviving nades or being rezed in front of the guy who just killed me.
It's a matter of balance between shooting / reviving.
The healing can be done while shooting with the AoE effect. Even if it isn't as efficient at least you're helping to take down the enemy.
Medics have access to really accurate weaponry. You should consider using it more often.
Being a support class also means you have to support your friends suppressing threats.

As for the directive. I agree it's a bit too focused around the pure killing. The kill X enemy medics doesn't make sense to me really.

My only complaint is that the savior kills and medic kills seems to be more luck then anything.

    Yeah they really are!

    Increasing savor kills is strategic.
You have to help an ally from death when he's 1/2 hp or when he have lost his shield.

    => Unequip medic shield beacon
=> Enter into a vehicle that you don't own, when you're only 50% hp, start to kill enemy, you'll get savor kills from defending your driver.
=> Babysit a MAX and try to kill steal him : MAX don't have shield so they always give you savor kill from defending them.

But I agree they should have add more support directives on the medic.
I would like to see a ribbon for heal-assist xp (healing ally while he take damage)

At least, I've finish both my medic and AR directive.

Because every class is a combat class. There is no such thing as a support class.

I was just having this very discussion with my guild yesterday. I'm watching my Medic directive basically not move at all, because I have all the healing ribbons, all the reviving ribbons, and all the shielding ribbons I'll need, yet I'm gapped on kills.

Hilariously, I've found myself ignoring bleeding and dead comrades in order to focus on grindin' dem kills.

The directive system has made me a worse teammate.
  18. Dudeman325420

Eh, you can get kills AND heal / revive people if you stay aware of what to do when. Its illogical to assume that doing one stops you from doing the other. Try using Grenade Bandolier w/ Revive Grenades and maxed out Nano-Regen, and avoid using your tool unless completely necessary. You'll be surprised at the amount of kills you can get while still supporting your team just by limiting how much you switch to the MedGun.
  19. Riley5

Zero sum game, mate. When there's enemies around the corner and a dead friendly at my feet, I have to choose which gun is in my hand. The directive system is encouraging me to choose the rifle.

(Yes, rev grenades are lovely, but blowing one on a single dead guy is pretty wasteful.)

Even if I already completed my medic directives, I mostly agree with you.
Only thing I don't truly agree is
600 kills are very easy to obtain for any dedicated player. If you play only medic is a 1 or 2 days worth not that hard.
1200 is a nice spot for a general kill counter.
