MBT Secondaries nerfed

Sorrow suggests I've not been expecting something like this for the last week or so.

    Tbh. I'm mostly just annoyed.

In all honesty, were you expecting something useful out of this?

The "buffs" to Tanks, in the entire history of PS2 is a resistance change, the Prowler/Vanguard Velocity buff and the overall Vehicle NAR buff(which will be nerfed in the new patch).

Every other change done by SOE, be it for good or not, was a nerf or restriction to Tanks ... Seriously, everything else was to negative effect on Tanks against other targets.

If we were to be picky, we could add the AP cannon buff with the resistance change on the list, but that change only affected Tank on Tank action ...

I'm already as soulless as the PS2 Art design ... so it's impossible to crush it ...

So is the hailbird going to be the best secondary for EVERY TANK in the game now...
its just like ES max abilities
    Charge>Everything
    Hail bird>everything?
Maybe they will nerf all tank abilities too o_O so its
    IR smoke>everything

Thank you SOE we all love your great ideas

Lol, I as a VG Commander rely on that thing because the Vanguard has the worst performance against infantry, and the Enforcer really helps taking out those infatry that the Main gun cannot.
  5. Kumaro

At least on woodman i see a lot of people switching and i admit to doing it my self a lot to. Since it's so easy compared to the main gun. I just hull down. pick a target and hold the trigger. If it's a sundy 10-12 seconds and it goes boom. I love and hate the damn thing XD

Using it for a while i have to say it's almost a straight upgrade from the halberd. But that might be because im so used to the prowler as my main.
  6. JackD

It´s a nerf for AP weapons against infantry and a buff for AI weapons. Not got buffs but buffs. I think they never used a C85 Canister.
  7. Drougar

Well all that this tells me is that the planetside team don't play tanks when they play, seriously why nerf MBT's against infantry. most deaths that i have in a tank are caused by Infantry, not so much that i get volley fired by rocket launchers, not killed by AV base turrets, not even other factions MBT's but by a freaking light assault with C4, or an engi with a AV mana turret. And trust me i have alot of game hours in a prowler.

And now they have nerfed splash damage and radius on the prowler HEAT and HE, why? Well because they kill infantry to effectively we don't want them to be able to defend them self against C4 charging light assaults.

if they don't buff the MBT's soon im going to start hunting SOE personel.

if they are going to make MBT weapons all situational and have NO versatility, then they need to implement load out swapping.
Maybe allow you to swap loadouts at warpgates tech plants and amps stations.

The moment I heard about the Liberator update I thought "It's time to stop putting certs into tanks and start to cert into Liberators". I wasn't wrong. Now that SOE is going to nerf tanks even more, it's time to move on to Libs or ESFs full time.

    So what to do?

Get 2 of your Friends, make each one of them spawn their Lib in turn every time you die.
    II
    II
    II
    V
Farm the $hit out of the Ground ===> Profit.

Just like in the good ol' Harasser days...

Until the Valkyrie gets released -probably- as the new "OP Farming Vehicle of the Month" and Libs get nerfed...

Not to mention that this will drop player population even more. Tanks were something everybody had access to and limited air spam to some extent. Now everybody is spawning his own Lib and tries to find a gunner in the warpgate.

The consequence? ===> Everybody will farm the Ground with Libs as long as they have air resources to spawn a Lib. Only new players and people that don't have enough air resources/friends with enough air resources will be on the ground.

So you still want to drive a tank? I wouldn't recommend it unless you have masochistic tendencies...

yer, did they really need to kick us while we are down.. I already live in fear of every single sound I hear in the air and now I will need to buy the halberd and dump a craptonne of certs into it to put it in line with my saron..

I just made a TR character on connery as well, looks like I will be farming as infantry to build up certs..
  11. IamnotAmazing

    This really irritates me

when one weapon is lackluster they nerf the other two, just buff the bad one

Now the VS and NC can understand how TR players felt about the Vulcan, Once an amazing weapon, now nerfed to **** tier.

    Welcome to the club.

This is really sad, considering that using Saron versus infantry requires at least a bit skill. The damn MBTs are a way too expensive in resources and availability to be specialized in anti-vehicle fight only. So any form of nerf is idiotic, I does not even want the shield nerfed.
The two main problems is the narrow specialization of the MBT setups compared with ESFs and Liberators, and the lack of weapon swapping..
MBT overspecialisation that SOE does would force the players to use NS stuff exclusively. Because none wants to be overspecialized in tank killing when he is attacked by infantry or the other way around. You cannot switch your loadout, you cannot predict the situations because they dynamically change. So NS stuff all around, I already use the NS Submachine gun and Comissioner on my engineer, now it is time for NS Halbred.

Magrider side- I cannot comment the other MBTs because I haven't used them much.
Buff the AI turrets to do more damage versus vehicles in return at least. I rarely run PPA as AI magrider- low DPS tank is toast even versus Sunderrer with 2 manned default guns or single AP lightning if he ambushes you.
Magrider cannot just use shield or high dps main gun to compensate for secondary.
It was clear that Saron was preforming well but I thought that was the idea- to compensate about the other major drawbacks of low DPS MBT.
Also the other drawback is that Magrider is pretty much forced to use Stealth in order to have fair chance vs other MBTs so this excludes the auto repair option, that works better vs infantry.

Considering that Air preforms better I would also use Liberator more it is NS and cannot be bad after all.
  14. Flag

don't you even ******* start that line of reasoning.

Yes the vulcan was run into the ground, but even then it pales compared to the old Mag Nerf.

You wouldn't know a brutal nerf if it hit you in the face.

  15. Crackulous

Still sticking with the Saron. No reason to get the PPA when it can't damage armor to any extent, and isn't much better against infantry.
  16. MagMourner

I'm concerned that SOE are looking at pure statistics and making assumptions. So they see that the Saron is having a fair few infantry kills and therefore say it must be nerfed.

HOWEVER I honestly don't think it is as simple as that. As a long term Magrider driver, I have a Saron (actually had it before the initial nerf - when it was pretty special). Things have changed since then and the Mag has suffered a lot. In order to stand a chance against another MBT, I MUST have a secondary gunner. I don't play in a group so actually hang around until I get one. And guess what - that secondary gunner takes shots at infantry and kills some. I look around me and see either the default secondary gun on some Magriders, the occasional Halberd but mostly Maggies have Sarons.

I have alts as NC and TR (mostly out of pure frustration for the state of various VS elements). With either, I don't feel the need for a secondary gunner - sure, nice to have, but not necessary. Both are more than capable of holding their own in many situations. Also I don't attract as many secondary gunners as NC or TR even though I have a Halberd on both. Most often i'm used as a convenient transport between battles.

So in summary - many Magriders have Saron secondaries; of those a lot will have active secondary gunners who take shots at stuff. Therefore - infantry will be killed by Saron. I have not seen SOE stats but I would presume that the Saron is numerically strong when compared to secondaries on the Prowler or Vanguard. Ergo - Nerf incoming...

The true state is that the Magrider has great maneuverability - which it desperately needs as most of the time you're frantically dodging or running away. I still have fun in it - but it does feel weak against the Prowler or Vanguard (especially Vanguard - that shield is AWESOME !)

A bit rambling but I'm sure many Magrider drivers will feel the same. Still, the balance is absolutely perfect compared to anything versus Liberators right now but that's a different discussion !!! (having just been caught AGAIN and destroyed without even firing a shot)
  17. Chubzdoomer

The last thing I would nerf (or even change) in this game is MBTs. They are, in my opinion, the most well balanced vehicles in the game.

  18. JackD

Agree, maybe they will manage to do it till the end of the year. But i doubt it
  19. NoctD

Honestly - I'd prefer a Saron AV nerf... cause it still melts armor up close. The Vulcan is a joke in comparison really.
  20. McToast

    Moin

Wow. Just wow. So much stupidity in one patch. The saron is fine as it is. And the only thing that prevents me from certing the halberd now is the fear that it might also get nerfed after this patch goes life. Because the statistic shows "that it's too effective" (compared to the other lackluster options). Seriously, just make the kobalt and ES AI useful and not the AV weapons useless. But, thinking about it, it's not about the AI weapons being useless. They aren't. The kobalt is really decent against infantry already. BUT IT'S COMPLETELY USELESS AGAINST ANOTHER TANK! You can spec your harasser for AI work and avoid tankhunters, but MBTs are just not agile enough for this. In most situations you have to duke it out, and a secondary that doesn't even scratch the paint of the opponent will never cut it.

Dammit, this "balance patch" is gonna suck BIG balls.

    Grüße,
    regards,
    the Toast
