Got talking with a VS player today and was wondering what others think. Which server do you prefer, and why?

Mattherson because i been here since day 1. made alot of good friends even from other fractions.just think mattherson has alot of talented players believe it or not. we might not be the best community and have the most drama but overall it's a fun experience playing on the server.

It differs depending on recent experiences, I think I prefer to play on Connery more than Waterson. But my character on Waterson was the first I had created and has the most cert investment. When Briggs had a steady population through most of the day it was by far my favorite.

Having spent the first 3 months of the game on Waterson, and the rest on Mattherson, I'd have to go with Mattherson. I think no one can deny that Mattherson has the larger population, and say what you will, but a healthy population is a very large part of what makes this game fun. In a game that revolves around massive combined arms warfare, you need a server to have a healthy population.

That's not to say that Waterson doesn't have its strong points. It has good people. A lot less loud mouthed trash talkers than Mattherson. It's just not very strong in population unfortunately. If Waterson had equal pop with Mattherson, I'd probably say Waterson is the better server. But it doesn't.

Both are equally good: Both are well-populated servers with very experienced outfits on each faction. Mattherson used to be more of a drama server but has stabilized somewhat in that department.
  6. Lady Majestica

I prefer Waterson because of the atmosphere. Mattherson is all taunts and rage. All "we won so we rule and you suck trololol" I don't care for that anymore, been much happier since I made the switch.

Matherson is better. However, my time on it compared to the EU servers (though Cobalt < Woodman < Miller easily) is marked by a gulf in the difference in sportsmanship. Far more rage /tells, hackusations and general ******** in /yell 'scrub' is a word I see used a lot. Its not even biting, it is however not something that makes me think 'well this is a nice neighbourhood'. Its a shame because there are descent outfits on it. though they are largely the voices in the wildness even still.

Community needs to make more of an effort to exclude that ******** if the server is ever really going to become an inviting place for new players.

    WHAT?!

MATHERSON IS NOT BETTER! I KEEEEELLLLL YOUUUUUU
  9. BaronVonVirtu

Mattherson by far. Waterson is a very eerie ******* server, no one talks in /yell, /region, /leader, or /orders. It's just dead silence. One would think you were fighting bots.

    Better than it was.
  11. VSDerp

    really that bad? and awkward??
  12. XOLiD

Well the NC on both are incompetent. Comparing both servers' TR and VS, their roles are switched really. Better to play TR on waterson and better to play VS on mattherson. Horrible to play NC on either.

I wouldn't call it awkward, I'd call it eerie. It's like an inception dream.

I started as Vanu on Matherson, but it was all Vanu all the time, so I moved to Jaeger/Waterson.
  15. VSDerp

    some trippy stuff.

excessive trash talk and hackusations seem to be an american thing, I get the same on waterson where I play when im on night shift, come back to miller and its far quieter, people seem to just accept their fate whereas waterson players b$tch and yell so much more. Eg first day back on waterson after a couple of months and within an hour im being sent a hackusation from a derp max I coaxed around a corner and blew up with a tank mine, what a muppet, even after explaining he needs to look at his killfeed before calling me an aimbot he switched tack to being insulted by the way I was speaking to him (i mean whos ever heard of a mine aimbot lol)

sometimes I think the best accessory for playing american servers is a blank post-it note (stuck over the chat window)

Mattherson. We have it all, awesome outfits, top players, drama, fun, excitement, passion, rage. Mattherson has everything you could want and more.

If this is true then it would explain why certain players enjoy it more then Matherson: there cant be decisive victories and there would only be random mostly mindless fights going on. More attractive for people that just want to log in and find something to do without participating in the whole.

I've been playing on Waterson for the past couple of weeks and its a very nice change of pace from Mattherson. For starters the population is much more balanced most of the time. That in itself makes it a better server to play on. Secondly I rarely see any drama whatsoever in yell chat from anyone and players seem friendlier overall. He'll I shot down a guy in a scythe yesterday in an AP prowler and I got a "nice shot" tell. I about fell out of my chair.

The only criticism I have about Waterson is that it seems to be much more relaxed as far as competition goes compared to Mattherson. The pace is much slower and I see a lot of things happen that would probably never be pulled off on Mattherson.

Of course these observations may just be because things are usually balanced instead of TR and NC fighting 3:1 odds against the VS all the time so that makes it seem less hectic.

I guess I'm jaded from being NC on Mattherson, but there seems to be more coordination/communication with the Waterson VS verses Mattherson NC.

If my outfit is on, I'd say Mattherson. Otherwise Waterson VS is a more enjoyable experience, especially during the late hours.
