I'd like to point out that the majority of the populations on both sides are excited for this merger regardless of the outcome and, in fact, many were pushing for both names to be retired.

It's all up in the air now apparently, as it looks like they may have counted a base that was ghost capped in overtime. If this is the case, Mattherson would indeed be the victors.

Even if this is the case, I say announce it quietly, let us pick a new name (I think both sides want this), and let us move on to greater things as a unified force.

( So many threads on this, i do not even know where to post... so i will use this one, as it is the biggest. )

So, HOLY COW!!!

I almost had a heart attack watching the stream. Amazing play by both sides, and an incredibly, incredibly close and nail - biting finish. I am sure the communication/counting fail in the end will spawn at least 20 more pages of drama. Probably much more.

The one thing that i think everyone should take away from this match is that both servers fielded incredbily talented outfits and players, that were essentially equal in skill. The match was won by a single point, and honestly, i do not feel like any of the two servers deserves to be called the loser and lose its name after this match.

What we have here are two winners.

I think the smartest way to deal with this situation would be to chose a new name for the Server.

( Call it Winnerson, Megason, or find something that represents the spirit of both servers equally. )

If the outfit leaders and server representatives that took part in this merge smash could agree to a common name, i am sure SOE would accept it. They have done a great job at allowing this to happen and supporting it, and a solution that honours both servers will only help to make the merge as great of a success as this merge smash was.


No matter what happens in the next days, one thing is sure: The merged server will be awesome.


Hats off to all the players, commanders and organizers that made this happen. This match was the best demonstration of what Planetside 2 should be about i have ever seen. From Beta until today.

The main thing, as I see it, is we're now bigger than Connery and look at how freaking good we all are.

I can't wait for the Connery vs. <insert name here> server smash in the future

Having both servers choose a new name (from PS1 no less) is probably the best possible outcome we could've had.
