Mattherson NC we are badasses :D

The UES proved that when you cram the entire continent's population into a couple of nearby territories, it is impossible to capture anything due to how vastly favored the defenders become when the servers go under heavy load. The lag and bad rendering distance devolve the fight into who can respawn and get back into the fight faster. Ammo packs don't function. Vehicles are worthless. Static positioning(camping) is superior as pushing forward will often get you killed by enemies that won't be rendered for you yet.

Claiming that a faction is badass when they are only able to hold one single territory by cramming ~38-40% of the continent's population into the territory as defenders is a little delusional.

Regardless, it was still a great fight last night. I just wish the clients/servers could handle that load so we could fight properly.

It counts and I congratulate the NC. Also, in numerous other threads (including one I made last week) I have said the NC had the worst warp gate location on Indar before the rotation. I also said the north gate was the best due to terrain. I know because I was playing NC all of beta from the time they held the top gate until it was moved to the south east. I was on beta west when TE was firing 25 lock-ons at a time at my Vanguard from the ridges in the south east. Or had 10 Burster Maxes and engis on the same ridges making any kind of air support impossible.

Now it doesn't matter if VS or TR or NC have 50% population, I go somewhere else and look for a smaller fight. It's not fun for me and I don't want to be the one swarming enemy bases or the one being zerged. I know some people love it. Just look at this chest-puffing thread.

Side note: I've seen the VS lock Indar with 38% continent population (10% less than what you had) while still holding Amerish and Esamir locks. I dare say that is impressive but I don't recall any 8 page threads of them trying to promote how skilled they are, or how good their coordination was, etc etc. Anyway, I'm done here.

Actually, we lost Alkali because it was bumrushed by a ton of invisible enemies. We could -not- take it back, despite having infantry ALL over the point. It broke and started capping on its own and/or the opposing force was on it and just didn't render no matter how close we got.

The whole night we were worried you guys would do it again when we grabbed NS. But it didn't, so we held. The fact of the matter is, we didn't have an advantage. All it takes is one drop pod swarm and rush to the point to win. We weren't rendering ANYTHING on the point so we were standing there watching it get capped by invisible infantry. While standing ON the point.

Edit: The only thing delusional are the excuses players like you make to attempt to disenfranchise the NC player of their accomplishment. Check out the title of the thread - it'll help you understand what the topic of the discussion is about. The NC patting themselves on the back for a job well done. Don't like it? G-T-F-O.

Actually, it took a lot of coordination the small strike forces we had to take territories that were lightly guarded and stay ahead of the zergfest to buy us time. We were actually down almost 8% population the first hour of prime time. The population balanced out at 33/33/33 by the 2nd hour.
  5. Linedan

Pops were pretty much even when I logged on about 9 and went to NS Salvage yard for a bit.

It looked like the VS left Indar en masse to head to Amerish a little after 10 maybe. My outfit was over on Amerish helping try to secure that lock when we suddenly ran into some very stiff VS resistance near their warpgate. I checked the map and lo and behold, the VS pop had gone from somewhere in the twenties to 55% in the span of a few minutes. Needless to say, we didn't get Amerish right then.

When we popped back over to Indar around 10:30 Eastern or so, VS pop was down in the high 20s and NC was right at 40%. VS territory gains collapsed quickly until they made a stand at Feldspar Canyon, stopped us cold, and pushed back north because most of the rest of the NC were fighting the TR south from Saurva. (We were just trying to find fights where the lag wasn't crippling, basically.) We made a stand at Rashnu and barely held it against two ferocious VS attacks when we got a lot of just-in-time help from NCC outfits.
  6. Hael

Pre-warpgate rotation the NC were Matterson's whipping boy for the other factions. We were consistently warpgated on Indar and whatever other cont we took was immediately taken by one of the other two factions.

It's good to see we're finally getting a chance to shine, and that maybe the VS have some appreciation now for how awful that SE warpgate is.
  7. Broccolis

I must apologize, I was under the assumption that Alkali was never taken. I was frustrated with the lag putting over half a second delay on my ability to go in to and drop out of cloak and logged off for the evening before it was taken.

It was not my intent to state excuses. I only stated my opinions. Is it truly an accomplishment for a faction to capture Indar with more population than the other two factions combined or holding it with a non-trivial population advantage? Not by my metrics. When VS were the first faction to capture all three continents on Mattherson, I did not view it as much of an accomplishment either as we had a population advantage as well. I'd say it's an accomplishment that the NC are a threat to more than just Allatum Biolab ;). That being said I'm excited to actually have three-way battles on Indar and not just TR vs VS with some random blue guys that show up on occasion.

Edit: I could care less about who captures what, only that there is a continual stream of exposed heads in my crosshairs.

Nowhere in the topic title did it say "If you don't agree with this topic title, ****." I'm a little confused as to how you are able to extract such a meaning from it. Diatribe(forum pvp) is the lifeblood of the official forums for every competitive video game.

I'll Take a 1 big battle hold the lag and shutter please, thanks.
I'll enjoy fighting the GOONS its fun, always a good fight.

The SE warpgate is fine. NC showing up to a fight is exactly that. You showed up for once. When NC fights... they do well. When they cry in a corner... not so good.

GOONS always present a good fight... anywhere, anytime.

Remember NC we VS pushed you ALL THE WAY to your warpgate and were in the SE atm.

If we could have helped the TR without hurting them strategicly over there, it' would have been Game Over
even with the ridiculous Mag nerfs... and all the NC weapon buffing.
  10. Vertabrae

This fight lasted over 8 hours. For the first couple the NC had less population than either the VS or TR. After about 2 hours populations evened out at about 33/33/33 with a 1-2% difference between one faction or another over the next 4 hours (this during the primetime hours). Around 10pm eastern TR and VS started losing pop on Indar. IDK whether they were logging out, going to Amerish or Esamir or what. But by the time TR/VS started losing pop, the NC had already cleared enough areas near our WG that the threat of losing our cont lock was over.

So during the first 6 hours of the fight (during which the heaviest fighting took place, during primetime) the NC had either the lowest pop, or was even with VS/TR. At no time while we were nearly warpgated did we have any kind of pop advantage.

Your post was pretty snarky, that's where that last statement came from. (That's how it came off, anyway.)

Ultimately, we (the NC), have been battered and beaten and warpgated over and over. We're beginning to get more organized and we finally accomplished something considered to be a "big deal" at least to -us-. So let us have our moment of glory without being a Negative Nancy, is all. ;)

  12. Vapid

You pushed us to our warpgate because we were also trying to stem the tide of the entire TR faction. The bigger VS Outfits DID try to help the TR. When all 3 factions collided on the same hex, **** hit the fan but we came out on top. :)
  13. Dr.Destro229

why must we argue about this? It was a good fight cant we just leave it at that? :(

Congratulations. You guys done great. Was a good fight. Yall should come out to play more.

Lets all hope someday we can do that with infantry render beyond 30m, and without the desktop crashing no
reloading insano lag. Cause it'd be moar epic that way.

The events that i witnessed were as follows. please note im NC.
logged onto Indar and saw that we were pushed all teh way back to Alaki (or whatever its called) and my outfit was holed up at briggs both groups fighting for their lives. I pulled reaver and attempted to give some airsupport dispite the legions of enemy aircraft and AA fire. as you can expect I was quickly shot down to the untold masses. We held at briggs for as long as we could (as far as i was aware we had been holding there for some time), we held against vanu and TR until a massive rush had us fall back to alakia. then the lag started.

The lag initially began as teh inability to see targets, no less hit them at medium to logn range. only tanks or sundys could be seen (or all vehicles for that matter). Even overly delayed kills and damage came. I could pump my jackhammer (testing after recent buff) into a TR and long after I emptyed the entire 10 round clip into him he would die and the same woudl happen to me. Get shot then a few seconds later the damage would hit.

Alakia held for a long time until the lag got to such a point that you coudl only see someone at short range and you could fire at the location of an enemy that vanished and the round (to me) would fly and keep going like there is no one there. A massive rush combined with the rendering problems allowed the TR and VS to cap Alakia.
We were unable to hit or kill the attackers on teh point due to the lag.

by then the salvage yard had been capped and then a long battle began as the TR pushed from the west. the rendering problems and lag continued to get worse. 1 out of 10 ammo packs would give you ammo (if any at all), med guns did nothing, revives hardly worked, and engi repair tools did nothing. Also weird events such as floating non-exploding grenades everywhere and infinite jetpacks began as well. This lag affected all sides in the conflict.

Rendering was expecially bad as even in an open field you could not see the enemy. (and as far as im aware they could see you) until you were only meters from them and in worse cases, only at knife range could you be seen. only vehicles or aircraft (from an infantrys POV) could be seen from any kind of distance, the hundreds of infantry around the enemy sundy only appeared when you got within a tanks legth of the sundy.

The VS would occasionaly send a few scythes towards the salvage yard and the TR would keep trying to push over the ridges to the west. drop pod attacks also occured every now and then, all of which were unsucessful. eventually the huge gal attack came and inflicted few kills upon teh defenders, and those pilots that got out were killed. the TR tried to rush their maxes shortly after and they too failed. after continued fighting both sides gave up and went off to other continents. and the NC pushed south.

In my humble opinion it felt like the VS and TR were workign together. if they were or not I dont' care. It just felt that way. As for the south east indar warpgate, all i can say is that being inside a canyon is a terrible tactical and strategic location, which can easily be surrounded due to teh canyon walls and is rather hard to defend.

Either way it was alot of fun dispite the lag problems.
  16. Broccolis

    I suppose I was fairly snarky, wasn't I?

Either way, the fight was excellent last night. My kills-by-faction pie graph has too much red in it. I'm excited to get some more blue to even it out.

Edit: I wouldn't say that the VS and TR were in direct cahoots, but it felt like we were attempting to leave each other alone just to remove NC's cont lock. A "we can't have it, so neither can you" attitude, if you will.

A guy who admits he had an attitude, and that in the end he enjoyed the fight. I wish more people could do this. Lay the faction hate aside and just admit it people. You had fun.

    +1 to you mate.

There was no way for VS to hack NS Salvage.

    Try again?
  19. Deathrus

Good fight at TI alloys at around 4 am server time.

I finally rolled the sunderer in, had to babysit it for awhile becuase no one else would repair it.

Next went engineer to heal whatever maxes we had so they could distract the scat maxes long enough to get some shots in.

A [AT]max and I held the lower building for a while. I felt bad he was our only MAX.
NC start yelling wheres our maxes. Bunch of VS reply, whats the point? they last as long as heavies vs a scat max. Nc agreed LOL.

4 scat maxes guarding the flag with engineers was tuff fight, numbers were close to even.

We got it finally, was a fun fight. Glad the Nc stayed at TI to fight. It was a entire PUG group on both sides, though the Nc had better support players to keep the maxes up.
  20. Balm

It was an interesting scenario, but I wouldn't call it a good fight. The massive, game-breaking lag and rendering issues made it impossible for an attacking force to function. Ammo packs didn't work, res's didnt work, medkits and medguns didn't work, infantry didnt render until 20 feet away, and FPS was in the gutter for everyone.

The same issue that made The Stronghold fight during the UES a joke, made last night on Mattherson a miserable trainwreck to ride along with.

During massive lag, the defenders are always favored. When you have an entire empire crammed into 2-3 hexes, then of course they are going to hold.
