Mattherson NC we are badasses :D

That's funny because it used to be TR and NC vs the Vanu every night around 6 pm on Matherson. You see it happens to you once and you claim conspiracies....you typical NC grunt ^.^ Evolve or perish sir...

Well, I have to say, that last night was probably the most fun I've had in planetside yet.

The infantry charges from hill to hill were awesome, and I don't think any other game could ever deliver such epicness. Thanks to the ammo packs not working in large numbers, on several occasions I ran out of ammo, down to my last pistol Magazine, running straight towards the enemy line. At one point, I managed to run up and stab a MAX to death. Sure, the server was basically melting, but I think the "render distance" issue allowed those giant fights to actually still be fun, and not turn into a giant spam fest. If Infantry could render from flight ceiling, that fight would never have happened.

This was the most fun I've had in the game so far. Makes we want like a series of really small urban continents, where the continent is like 1/4 the size of the existing continents, but every hex is a fast capturing base.

Maybe you haven't read Sun Tzu but you attack where your enemy is weak and do not allow yourself to be pinned down and smashed. Seems like they did their job well and held the continent bonus to me.

You're acting as if warping problems that people are having aren't also happening to NC.

    AHAHAAHAHAAHAHA

I laugh how everybody reads a bit of Tzu's work and thinks they're a military genius.

    I'm shocked at the denials:

The pops were balanced during the last stand. All three were at 33/33/33. There was a pop lock on Indar.

Both sides (yes, two, as it was NC against TR/VS) experienced the same exact lag and bugs. However, the majority of the battle raged 200-500m away from the actual base, so the ability to spam sunderers actually gave the atackers an advantage. NC had to run from the base back to the front line, while the defenders rolled another spawn/ammo point. NC could not do this as we were denied resources for quite awhile.

When you see a scythe and a mosquito working side by side and ignoring each other, you see your kill screens showing damage repeatedly by both VS and TR, and you see the VS gal bomb ( fail) followed IMMEDIATELY by a TR push to the base (another fail) the question of an alliance is not so much a question anymore.

And BTW, the VS held ZERO adjoining territory. The theory of "being sandwiched" between the two is absurd.
  8. Bloodlet

I never claimed to be a military genius. Calm down and learn some reading comprehension since you clearly lack it.
  9. Isila

We must have different definitions of the word 'truce', given that AT was dropping into TR bases they didn't even have a link to so they could try to screw with us.
  10. Nacasatu

VS here on Mattherson and I'd just like to say thank you to the NC, was a great fight last night.

Apologies in regards the pact between VS and TR, believe me, not all of us agreed with it but you did so well to not only fight both VS and TR off you but to push us all back, epic stuff and well done.

Was definitly an interesting fight. Don't know about the TR/NC side but on the VS side my draw distance was maybe 20ft. Would be running across the field and hundreds of VS would instantly appear in waves...I'd swear the entire VS and NC population was squeezed into one hex.

EPIC COMBAT ON A MASSIVE SCALE*

    * Massive Scale is defined as three-team combat not to exceed 50 players per team

I like how NC is patting themselves on the back calling people out because they had problems too. Here's how it works. You don't have to repair your spawn room. We couldn't repair our mobile spawns. We weren't in our territory and didn't respawn 10 seconds after dying in a place that never blew up. Lag always, always helps defense, so please stop with the bs.

Regardless, it was one hell of a fight and yes despite the problems you guys did a great job in defending.

  14. Piepants

It's true that the spawn rooms did not have to be repaired, but the lag hindered everyone. NC was pushed back nearly to the WG and thus had very little in the way of regenerating resources. What few vehicles could be pulled could not be repaired for the same reasons you could not repair your mobile spawns (even in the middle of the warpgate I was unable to fix any of my vehicles... maybe some other people were more lucky). This basically led to NC spamming infantry like crazy (which I found to be a ton of fun). It was refreshing having a massive infantry battle outside of a bio lab without everybody being bombed to oblivion by a single lib.

So yes, NC was aided on defense due to lag in some ways, but was hurt in others. Without the massive lag problems it may have been easier to attack, but it would also have been easier for NC to play peek-a-boo out of the warpgate with vehicles all night.
  15. EaterOfBabies

I tried to participate in the fight, I really did, but the bugs and lag were ridiculous. I rolled a Prowler over there and started getting hit by invisible missiles with no lock on warning, retreat but couldn't repair, then boom. I pulled a Sundy and tried to drive it over there, only to have a mag suddenly render behind me that was not there before (not sure what this VS/NC truce was cuz I kept getting killed by purple people) and boom. I then tried to foot zerg but again, the lag made it a slide show so I gave up in frustration.

I then went to Allatum and farmed VS for a little while before logging off. And my FPS was STILL terrible, even in a tiny fight like that.

My congrats NC for holding strong. But if anyone else was experiencing the issues I was, I don't see how they could stay in that fight. I especially don't see how anyone was able to actually have fun in it either. If anything, that battle was like waking up the next morning with a hangover next to a girl you thought was hot (PS2), only to find out that once the makeup and your drunkeness wore off she was really 80 years old and three hundred pounds heavier.

Long story short, that battle really showed off the limitations of the game for me, and made me a little sad inside about how an awesome game update can do so much harm.

I play NC. I was there at Alkali Storage when the VS finally took it. I was there at NS Salvage Yard when the TR were pushing from the west, and the VS would occasionally try to screw with us from the air.

Yes, the NC held our lock vs equal populations of VS and TR. Eventually we had 50%+ because the TR gave up and went to Esamir and the VS gave up and went to Amerish.

To some small degree, the NC can be credited with holding the lock while being outnumbered 2:1 during Prime Time. But, we had a significiant advantage in that the game's inability to handle that many people in that small a space creates issues that heavily favor the defender. Using lock on rockets against vehicles who could not render the infantry, their locks, or their rockets, we were able to push the TR back several hundred meters from NS Salvage, and proceed to create a perimeter that prevented them from getting a Sunderer close to our infantry line. When then just parked ourselves on the dunes and waited for individual TR infantry to appear within our render range, and picked them off 1 at a time. This advantage of limited render range and being able to abuse lock on weapons against vehicles unable to render us prevented the invading TR and VS from even getting close to the base.

The TR at one point attempted to gal drop onto NS Salvage, did (to some degree, I think we shot down a couple fully loaded gals as they passed overhead) manage to land, but were easily purged from the base by a significantly larger group of NC infantry. Not long after, the TR gave up on their push against a significantly advantage NC defending force, and left the continent. The NC then pushed out in all directions, kicking the VS back. Eventually, the TR returned to Indar from ghost capping Esamir, got kicked around a bit, then went back to Esamir to finish their ghost cap/lock. In the end, the NC warpgated the VS and TR willing to fight on Indar, again. We then went on to triple lock all 3 continents, again, albeit not in "prime time", as that effort was dedicated to defending Indar.

The truth of the matter is.. until SOE gets their game working properly, any massive fight will ultimately boil down to some game-breaking joke of a failed load test, where the results heavily favor the defender, especially in hexes where infantry can spread out and make good use of lock on weapons over level terrain to keep any enemy vehicles at a distance. This is why the UES was a total joke, the first empire to get to the objective and dig in, was the empire to win that objective. In our case (Mattherson), it was the VS. In both cases, the defenders abused the game's horrible inability to handle that many people in the same hex, and annihilated any opposition because of poor rendering, ability to keep vehicles pushed back with lock on weapons and permanent spawns that could not be destroyed with AV weapons. No significant credit is deserved in either case, the defenders (NC last night, VS in US) are simply at a huge advantage when defending from a stationary position.

This issue is not caused by GU2 (though it just makes the FPS in such cases even worse), it has been an issue since the game was released.

Warp gates play a major role in who can take and hold which continent. Both the VS and NC have proven that when you remove this "errbody get into 1 hex and lets see how horrible the game handles it" situation from the equation, they can still cap Indar during prime time and then proceed to hold it for longer than an hour. (in both cases, days) The TR can cap the continent, but due to the nature of finite Enclave "ops time", will be unable to hold a cont lock, nor apparently do they care. If you still think that being trapped in the SE of Indar with canyons on all sides, funneling you into situations where squads of annihilator spammers can warpgate you with little effort or potential to be retaliated , isn't a significant disadvantage, then give it a week, it'll sink in. When the warpgates rotate on Indar again, and the TR move to the SE, they'll get spanked just like the VS is now.

One thing I simply don't get, is why the NC never gets any credit for anything on _these forums_. It seems people at least recognize the coordinated efforts we make and the accomplishments we have on other places like PSU and Reddit, but here? Dudes just hate on the NC, and think we just derp/zerg our way into anything. Regardless of having held Esamir/Amerish for weeks in a row (VS, can you imagine now why we would opt out of fighting from the SE on Indar all day, every day?) and now taking and holding Indar, the only mention of the NC on these forums is that we're all terrible, and our outfits are all bad. I mean, I could give two terds whether these forum warriors respect us or not, it just perplexes me.

Oh well, good job NC, we'll hold it again today, and tomorrow, and the day after that, until eventually the VS and TR have no excuses left.

Pop was very close to even, NC was fighting hard assaults by both TR and VS at the same time. I stood in one spot, shot VS, turned 90 degrees and killed the TR coming from another way. We are proud.. Because we held against the full might of two other factions. I checked the map a couple time. No battles anywhere else on the map. No flashing hexes, no bases being capped, NOTHING. So if you had players elsewhere, they weren't doing anything.

First off, Don't talk about things you don't know about. A lot has changed in the last two weeks. NC pop has risen, warpgates have been rotated, and epic battles have ensued. NC is not the doormat faction is was just a couple weeks ago. I know it's always been TR vs the VS, the two big dogs going at it, and when NC came out of it's puppy cage it got smacked down for daring to stick it's nose in VS/TR business. VS almost always held Indar, TR has taken it 2-3 times for a few hours, then loses it again.

Now a couple weeks ago (before the WG rotations) Indar suddenly was up for grabs. TR got it once, VS would get it and lose it. Then for close to a week, nobody owned it. Now NC came along and took it. For the very first time ever NC locked down Indar. I heard congrats from both TR and VS players. But I also heard some talk about how NC would lose it the next day during prime time. We didn't. I don't care what you say. At the end of the day NC held off both TR and VS to hold Indar for more than 24 hours Oh and at the time I am writing this, we actually have all 3 conts locked down.

Now VS have done this before. That's cool. But nobody else has done it recently. VS have actually been better about being cool to the NC. Saying congrats and how much they enjoyed the battles the last couple days. Far fewer TR have said such things. I suspect I know why. Because they have NEVER held Indar for a day. NOT ONCE. When is the last time they held all 3 conts? Anyone remember? It may have happened before I started playing? How long did they keep them if so?

Like it or not, fact remains. NC took what hasn't been taken much lately, and held it through primetime, and went on to have a 3 cont lock. Rage all you like. I'm sure TR will do this one of these days. But remember. The NC did it first.

Some other people have said it but VS fought off the double team for weeks while had the lock. NC would hit Regent/Peris/Nursery and TR would come in from Hvar/Indar Bay/Ceres. The only difference was the server wasn't gasping for breath the whole time. However, the render issue was still bad for all those attacks. I was down at the VS warpgate fighting TR so it was a pretty awful truce if at all. It was more of a, "if we can't have it no one can agreement." Then, the same thing happened that always does, the double-teamers end up colliding at some point until one is losing all of it's territory which forces them to fall back. Your Indar lock was granted with 50% pop in the middle of the night. So, call me a cynic but I'm not impressed. Congratulations tho. =P

We apologize profusely for fighting for 10 hours in a row for Indar, and finally completing the lock after significant portions of VS/TR give up/are told by their moms that they have to go to bed.

Yeah, Matty NC is so awesome they couldn't lock the cont with 54% pop. Talk more ****, failpire.
