Make quick-bail a cert

Okay okay.. you ESF guys need to drop this already. When the rest of us
are fighting vehicles down on the ground.. people ALWAYS jump out when
you're about to kill them. Frankly i'm more surprised when I do get the kill,
because I'm ALWAYS expecting them to quickly hop out of their vehicle.

So get over yourselves already and realize this is something that everybody
deals with. This isn't Top Gun. You're not some oiled up hunky hairless guy
playing beach volleyball when you're not busy shooting down Ruskies. You
know you could be taking better care of yourself, and getting your blood all
angried-up because some guy jumps out of his plane before you shot him
down just isn't something to give your energy to.

    This is NOT you
    if anything, you're Goose

Because any XP that I should have earned but didn't due to a cheap "tactic" could go a long way in regards to getting me more Certs, raising my Battle Rank, and what have you. I honestly don't even want to know how much XP I've missed out on from bailing pilots. You might get enough XP in your play session -- good for you -- but I don't like having XP more or less stolen from me by selfish players who don't want to be killed by someone else and would rather take the cheap and easy way out. They'd might as well quickly press Escape and click the Logout button.

What about when you are landing to repair when on fire? That's my issue.
  4. Chubzdoomer

I don't understand why this is continuously compared to hopping out of badly damaged tanks, I really don't. When you escape from a burning tank, you don't suicide the moment you leave the vehicle, do you? No! You're still a perfectly vulnerable target and if the other guy is good, he'll still take your *** out. If someone bails from an aircraft and they don't have the ejection ability or are playing as Light Assault, they'll go squishy squish once they hit the ground, therefore completely denying you the kill and the XP that comes with it. The two aren't remotely comparable in my opinion. One is a legitimate tactic to live on and continue fighting. The other is a cheap way out and serves only to deny the other player the kill.
  5. Chubzdoomer

You can wipe them out fairly quickly with the Rotary, especially if you dump an entire clip into them and land every shot, but it still is not fast enough to completely deny them the bail. The moment they see they're being shot to absolute pieces, most of the time they'll bail before it's too late. I've had this happen to me numerous times when I come down on an unsuspecting, hovering rocket podder, then unload into him and destroy the aircraft in mere seconds only to have the guy hop out and splat at the last moment.

This is just the kind of thinking that would have me finally shelling out the certs for extended mags on my bursters, the result of this kind of change would encourage the currently overpowered ground AA to farm you all over the map. I don't think you have thought this through at all.

This thread is very entertaining ;)

What if I jump off a building and die? What if someone floods my client with packets and I lag out and 2 minutes later after being invincible and unable to interact with the environment I die? What if someone runs me over before you can kill me? What if someone steals your kill? What if I blow myself up with C4? What if I put C4 on my plane and blow it up after I bail?
  10. Syphers

Happened to me today I could still hack the terminals around lol
  11. applepienation

Usually if I bail its in a desperate attempt to make an emergency landing. Occasionally I survive, but not always. If I'm 700m up, I will let you have the kill. You deserve it.

I apparently don't though, I haven't gotten a proper kill on a ESF pilot in days.
  12. EvilJollyT

Most of you are missing the ground vehicle point. There is nothing more annoying than going toe to toe with another ground vehicle, out-playing and out-maneuvering him and eventually destroying him. Only to have the driver and/or passengers appear from the smoke of the wreckage with a missile launcher in hand which finishes you off because you are low on health from the vehicle encounter.

Seriously..... WTF? You win, but actually you lose.
  13. LT_Latency

I jump out every single time.

Pro Tip. If I eject you won unless i kill you from the ground after ejecting then LOLOL.

I posted many examples as to why someone would, and want to bail out, other than your assertions. I also offered you reasons why people bail - you ignored them.

You have simply ignored them all to continue on your line of demanding every single bit of XP you feel you are entitled to. I guess we just disagree.

I hope SOE doesn't listen to you, and allows players to do whatever they want to stay alive, or deny XP, as they see fit.

It is YOU who will have to change your attitude on the matter, and not for SOE to change the game so that YOU are not offended.

    And that's it.

I didn't ignore them, I just didn't address them. It's pretty obvious when someone purposely bails to their suicide and when someone attempts to slow down, land, and jump out and dies only by accident.

I'm not okay with cheap methods of denying players' kills and XP and you apparently are. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
  16. MarlboroMan-E

    The solution:

Dude bails. He goes splat. Kill credit to the last person that damaged his plane (or the person that did the most damage, whatever).

If he doesn't go splat, he didn't die. I fly as LA for a reason - mostly so I can hot drop onto towers. In being LA, I have sacrificed the ability to repair my aircraft quickly. If he was able to get close enough to the ground to jump out without going splat, well, good for him.
  17. ent|ty

But you didn't kill him. You killed his ESF.

Its the same when you blow up someone's vehicle, and they jump out before hand. You don't get credit there either.

And who cares if you do or not.

Why don't people just play the game, have fun, and let the XP and Certs handle themselves.

No to the cert cost for bailing. That's completely fine and normal for someone to attempt to bail and survive if they are flying low or are a LA. Not getting that +1 kill shouldn't be bothering you unless you're precious over your stats.

Bailing should just count as a vehicle kill rather than an assist. The person who damaged it most should get the credit once it crashes.
  19. MarlboroMan-E

I kinda agree with this, but lots of people care about stats, too. Maybe an active tracker of how many vehicle you've destroyed in the tab-menu? I was mossie-ing around yesterday afternoon, shot down 3 or 4 before actually getting a kill. No biggie, cause I was having fun, but some way to track your performance would be good.
  20. daicon

Well at the very least they should feel good knowing your planetside2 players profile displays how many vehicles you've killed total and on a per-vehicle basis. Even ATVs count I think.

I think we should always get credit for the vehicle kill on stats, but I'm not sure yet if we should be guaranteed a kill on the pilot if he bails:

It takes abit of skill to survive a "crash-landing", and I don't want my enemy knowing if I survived or not so he can circle around and pod me while I'm defenseless.
