Make quick-bail a cert

I am so over people bailing their ESF's to deny people victory, or even worse out-playing an enemy ground vehicle only to have the driver and/or passengers jump out and kill you with their HA.

Please make quick bail a certification that must be used at the expense of something else. I don't expect you to code in an animation ala PS1, but surely put in a pause and don't allow people to get out at speed?

If you can't be bothered to do this at least don't allow HA to drive.

Yes! For the love of god yes, nothing is worse than flying having a guy thinking they can sneak up on you you turn around and just wipe him clean to just bail on you. Denying you a kill and him just getting a suicide.

I am fairly neutral on it. I've had 1/3 of all A2A opponents bailed on me, including 3/3 Libs that did the "orderly land and exit" as soon as it gets close to 1/3 in health, or even more absurd, people bailing before their ESF taking 1/3 of damage (that is just way skiddish).

Then again, I've sniped people with my nosegun when they were preoccupied fighting other people, rocket spammed vehicles before they could react, as well as flying low to ram people with a Lib. Some of these are pretty cheap moves and I don't really feel like arguing over why I "deserve credit for performing action X"... in a game like PS2, we can easily get into positions to score easily kills (i.e. get into a TR or NC MAX and camp biolab, camp a base full of infantries at 300m with an anchored HE Prowler behind partial cover... and let's not talk about playing an engineer + AV turret and shoot at things beyond draw distance)

At least 2/3 of the pilots on Mattherson that I don't catch unaware bail.

Same. I've killed maybe 10 people in 50 or 60 dogfights I've won. Half the time they just plow themselves into the ground.

I was just thinking this today. Why should you be able to avoid death in an ESF just because you chose LA? 500 certs for ejection system. Use it or die when another pilot gets the better of you. Same applies to tanks. In fact, in any vehicle with more than one seat, it should take a set amount of time (maybe 10 seconds) to switch to another seat.

Unfortunately surviving the fall isn't what makes this a problem, the fact that players are bailing denying a kill is the problem, and if bailing was not possible they would just crash into trees, you know like they did in PS1. The only possible solution is when a player commits suicide then the person who did the most damage to him should get the kill, and it should show as a kill. If you add that to the fact that players shouldn't be able to bail without the seat then there is no way to take yourself out of a dogfight. Not to mention the fact that it makes the ejection seat worth something finally.

once upon a time esfs were worth 77 xp compared to the pilots 100. it was even worse for the lamental ground based AA, 80% of the time the flyboys would just fly off, sucke some repair xp and come back, and the other 15% they would bail/crash leavin the AA with a 25xp assist. But ESFs are worth 400 now and the assist is pretty good too even without the pilot, plus damge just for damage.

And complaining about someone poping out of their vehicle and shooting you with infantry guns. Thats just being petty. Thats pretty much the only reason to drive as something other than an enineer.

You didnt get the victory, you weren't fast enough to finish the job, if he had time to bail. Don't blame the bailer, blame yourself.

If they bail, as some of them do to me, swing around and finish them when they're on the ground.

I just had a fairly high-ranked pilot on Waterson do this and busted his balls for it over yell. The "bailing to your death to deny kills" issue has really gotten out of hand. You pretty much can't get a legitimate kill in the air anymore unless the other guy is brand new, really bad, or using the ejection system/playing Light Assault. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with the ability that allows you to eject without taking any damage or even playing as Light Assault, then bailing over a base and jetpacking down to re-arm yourself with another aircraft or even assist your teammates and live as long as you can -- those are legitimate tactics, especially because you're still perfectly killable afterwards. But bailing and suiciding on purpose -- you know you're going to die, but you don't want the kill to be awarded to the person -- is pretty much the biggest chump move ever to invade the air game. I definitely hope SOE addresses it soon.

What do you mean by "fast enough"? You can only kill other aircraft so fast. It isn't like you can come up on them and insta-gib them with the equivalent of a Dalton. The Rotaries are the most proficient, fastest killing weapons in the air and even those give the guy time to bail if he so desires.

And if they die the moment they hit the ground, and therefore are no longer killable? See where the issue is now?
  14. ent|ty

No issue to me. Mission accomplished. You neutralized an enemy. You won. Good job.

Its only in the context of modern games like PS2, where players need to have some kind of digital reward that most of us never had playing games for years before.
  15. Chubzdoomer

Robbing me of XP is what I have a problem with. Sure, I technically took the guy out (or just his aircraft, I guess) but I only saw the XP reward for his vehicle and not for killing him, too, although I should have gotten both or at least had the opportunity to get both (aka he bails and survives so that I can return and kill him). It's become a real issue that I think SOE should pay close attention to. Cheating players out of kills is totally not cool.
  16. ent|ty

I dont have a problem with it, why do you, or other players that agree with you? I get enough XP in my play session, I'm not worried if someone bails.

Also, you don't know his motive for bailing, its not all about denying you XP, maybe he wants to live. It's called fighting until your last breath, using all tools and options available to you. He could have tried to bail to survive, and died... I crash a lot in my Scythe trying to pull some hairy moves to avoid the enemy.. did I do it to deny XP? How can he tell? I've bailed out myself too, sometimes surviving, other times not.

If I'm about to blow up, maybe I'll try to land to repair.. If not, get close enough to the ground to jump out.. Sometimes I get finished off before I can do so, other times shortly after as I try to run away, w/e...

Stop thinking of it as cheating, or denying you.

Guys bail out on me, they crash, they head to w/e, it just doesn't bother me. If they survive, I swing around with my IV vision, and finish them off with the Light PPA... I don't give it a second thought.

Too many posts on this forum demanding players be forced to do this, forced to do that...

I only want to show you that XP and Certs aren't everything in a game. You won.. why can't you just be happy with being the guy who won the encounter?

I supposed you expect people to sit in their tank while it blows up too. No thanks. I'm outta there.

Yeah, but when you're out of your tank you're even more vulnerable than when you were in it. Easy kill for me.

    ^He has a point.
  20. Frosty The Pyro

you can kill an enemy esf in ~2.5 seconds, thats more than twice as fast as as a double burster max, which as the forums often say is instance.

otherwise you can be awesome and kill them as they fall.
