[Suggestion] make crouching while firing mess up your COF

And some of us can aim down when someone ducks

    Not the point, mate...
  3. LT_Latency

Yeah it is, part of the game. Is aiming and out thinking what your enemy is doing.

If I hear I take a head shot I duck because I know your aiming high and if you die because of that too bad.

Just so you know, crouching while firing provides no accuracy benefit. The shooter has to stop firing and let the CoF reset to get any additional accuracy.
  5. Ballto21

im sure most in this thread are aware of this but its the way that hitboxes in this game work. its an issue with netcode not actual gameplay
  6. Revel

Its impossible to fix in a game of this size. I've given up. I know the game is fundamentally broken on hitreg when I'm well out of LOS and those final 3 bullets still connect on a 50 ping.
  7. Littleman

Provided the laggard shooting at you doesn't kill you on his end just as you're being notified of being shot.
  8. Kaindestroi

    better idea-
lets start all firefights by taking 10 steps away from each other, then turn around at the count of three and shoot each other whit pistols.
also need 2 guys to stand and watch to make sure that every fight is fair.

Question: Why is this a problem? Everybody crys about the game should be "more skill based", so i would suggest. Aiming + Moving + Crouching requieres more skill than Aming (maby + moving) alone.
Just learn it, and do it by yourself bzw. if your enemy aims on your body. you get headshots thanks to the crouching ;-)...
  10. Ballto21

its not an issue with skill or gunplay, theres a netcode issue that warps player hitboxes when spamming like this.

personally i dont have much of a problem with it, but it is something that should be looked at, and if the netcode cant be fixed this might help

Yes, in general the head isn't what you should be shooting at, but when you can properly aim for something on the head it can pay off. The part of the nose for instance. It's curvature would, if strong enough, deflect a bullet into the eye sockets where it would be able to penetrate, both blinding the person and having a high kill-chance, if not a system shock causing unconsciousness. Also, the nose parts consist out of many types of bone plates that were loose during birth, making a weaker bone-structure here:

Yeah I understand. The nose area is much easier and larger to try to hit with low-powered bullets vs an armor-wearing opponent than the femoral/shoulder/neck arteries, all of which can also be partially covered by armor. That would make an armored person have less than maybe 5% of his body be a lethal hit (if you can't penetrate the armor).

I dont really see the problem. 99% of people do move while shooting in this GAME so its fair for everyone. I really like people who crouch down and shoot or HAs that start the shield stand perfectly still and start shooting: they are easy targets.
Think this way. The game takes place in the far future. Those are genetically improved soldiers: faster, stronger with more durability and stamina. And they know they dont have to fear death because they will come back a few seconds later.
And i dont even think that the problem with the hitboxes is a problem because (look at the first line) nearly everybody moves while shooting because everyone knows: "standing still means nearly instadeath" (especially with so many snipers in this game).
  13. pnkdth

    Still not the point.
  14. Pirbi

I think the ability to play dance dance revolution as a HA should give you XP in both games.

Strangely, I haven't noticed any issues with this. They added momentum so you can't change direction too fast with ADAD a long time ago, and crouching has never been an issue as it's also not instant animation and slows down your walking speed (meaning if you want to spam your crouch button you're just disadvantaging yourself).

By the way, there's nothing wrong with someone
    1) Crouching behind a terminal/box to hide part of their hitbox from enemy line of fire. It's called cover.
    2) Crouching for better accuracy/smaller hitbox when anticipating enemies from some direction. Most FPS games give you the tradeoff of increased accuracy for movement penalty while crouched, it makes perfect sense and mirrors real world (much easier to shoot prone or crouched as you can stabilize weapon better rather than holding it standing up, albeit if you have to move it'll take you a second to get up unless you want to duck walk slowly).
    3) Having 2 line type formations where person in front crouches and another stands behind them normally, so they don't hit each other while shooting in same direction.

I am aware of all of this. However, there is a recorded netcode issue (theres a vid in this thread on it) where ADADCADADCADADC causes warped hitboxes, and is warping them in a very noticeable way. It happens with all weapons, but .75 guns just do it better

This has to be another of Balto's troll suggestions....

Crouch increasing CoF would literally be the most idiotic gameplay mechanic ever implemented.

There already is movement CoF for ADAD (or just hold A, or hold D, or hold W...)

Perhaps they can make it so movement direction changes add a small step to CoF or something (so ADAD would quickly scale CoF to max). That would actually be reasonable.

But crouching always ALWAYS tightens CoF. Crouching to shoot is what you do IRL FFS. Take a knee, aim and fire. It's a more stable firing position.

I can't believe anyone actually took his suggestion seriously, and it's even more appalling any of you ACTUALLY agreed with it.

Crouching before firing IRL is more stable. Crouching while holding down the trigger and stepping sideways sounds incredibly dangerous, IRL.
  19. Ronin Oni

true enough, but lets not over-complicate mechanics.

CoF effects shouldn't change based on whether or not you're firing. The CoF is already blooming from the act of shooting even.

If ADAD is such a problem, then lets add a simple mechanic for that, and have directional movement changes add a small step increase to CoF each time. Changing directions once wouldn't do much. Changing directions repeatedly while spamming ADAD would inflate much faster.

Crouching has **** all to do with the problem as far as I can tell however.

Oh, and for the sake of argument, I could perform the aforementioned maneuver while firing stable enough. Not accurately while moving and transitioning but as soon as I stop in my crouch my accuracy will recompose.

I wouldn't do it IRL for the simple waste of ammo unless I'm just putting down suppressive fire while getting into a better position.

I once had a guy ask me why TR guys always start crouching when they ADS.
This silly behavior is not limited to TR, though.

As well as removing this crouching thing, we should also make starting to ADS while hipfiring have the same effect. If you did that in real life, the gun would punch you in the eye and you would probably go blind.
