[Suggestion] Lower Valkyrie's Flying Altitude.

    But we were just told that Engies were dropped. To be able to see the tanks, the Valkyrie couldn't have been at ceiling. In fact it'd have to be halfway from the ceiling to see the vehicles. Otherwise they are dropping blindly.

    Its been a while since ive done any skiy ceiling work but i think tanks could be seen from fairly high up.

    Did you realize 1 single ESF will take down the Valkyrie in 2 clips? Esf can reach the same height, have much powerful weapons and have passive afterburner.

    Now you should feel ashamed and crawl back to your corner.

    Depends on location. But tanks won't appear over 500-600m... less if the area is highly congested. Some places on the map the ceiling is less than that over the ground. Lowering the ceiling in such case would put Valks only 200-300m above the ground, max.

    The Valkyre is only as strong as the crew that man it. If there is no organization, it's a Cert-Piniata, end of story.
    But if you ahve a decent crew in it, you can go on a wrecking blow with it.
    But let's look on the Number of people who need to work together, to operate a succesfull valkyre:
    1 Pilot
    1 Gunner
    2+ Rumbleseat heroes. (if you're TR, you can add Striker havys to the engeneers, to boost it's dogfighting capabilitys.)
    If there is no Aircraft hunting you, everyone but the Pilot can practice in C4-fu

    I agree, the Valcyre as Dropship is powerfull, but if the same crew decide to use 2 Liberators, they get even stronger, and will need less Nanites in the long run, as C4 is pretty expensive, if you keep spamming it.
    --> no need to Nerf the Valk, as it requires a decent amoount of Teamplay, to be operated.

    Get an ESF, or the attention of an ESF pilot in your squad, and point attention upwards. The matter should resolve itself shortly.

    That's what they are doing now?

    For a while I seen them using Sundy balls but I think me and a friend of mine put an end to that tactic.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an engine limitation that prevented any and all visual sources from looking straight up, or close to it? Something to do with the degree calculations or something, I remember the devs responding to this exact idea of letting AA and players aim higher than they currently can.

    If anyone can find the source, I would be eternally grateful.

    What about this cant be done better by a gal? The pilot pays more resources, but you have a floating fortress upside down at flight ceiling with a ton of MGs pointed in every direction, and squad members can still drop out whenever there aren't ESFs on you and do the same thing.

    The only thing the Valkyrie can do better than a Galaxy, is picking up soldiers at the Sunderer and drop them on point. It's better than the Galaxy because it's smaller. For instance when attacking Red Ridge Communications I see tons of brainless footsoldiers charging from their Sundies moving from S to N. Which is like smashing against a wall. I usually land next to they Sundy, pick up some players, fly around the base and drop them on the landing pad. Tons of transport XP and enemy caught by surprise.

    It's an ultra-small niche, in any other situations the Galaxy is eons better than the Valkyrie.

    I did not call it an exploit. Stop trying to tilt the thread. I said it "borders on one without actually being one"! Lowering the ceiling is not nerfing imho. Anything in the game that cannot be equally countered is considered unbalanced by reasonable people.

    Hmmm. I don't think I will.

    Does anyone know if the warpgate endless repair gun bug has been fixed yet? You know the one. It's where if you enter a Valkyrie at the wargate only while using your repair gun it never overheats and runs constantly! We've all seen multiple Reavers, Scythes and Mosquitos taken out by a single Valkyrie. Do you think before you type or just flame for flaming's sake?

    its certainly a possibility, i could imagine it might end up spazzing out XD
    it just causes issues when the AA can't look higher than 85 degrees but the A2G can aim straight down,
    i'm not sure of a decent solution, and it doesn't really happen enough to lower the entire skybox to fix it XD

    I got some time flying a valk and when you try something like op suggests its probably at its most vulnerable just sitting there waiting to get shot down. If you struggle to you aim on it change position or get a dual burster

    I have one,, with extended mags! I'm a never been a subscriber battle rank 101, this isn't my first rodeo. Because of the bullet travel time of the dual bursters trying to hit a Valkyrie flying erratically in circles while going in and out of render distance to repair, it's almost,, I SAY ALMOST,, impossible to shoot down. Did you read the post where it was said that three to four AA maxes working together couldn't shoot one down?

    People, stop and think before you just blindly post garbage replies. I'm getting tired of pointing out your ignorance's!

    Your whole argument is everything can be coutnered so its fine

    Thats not how balance works

    Its a comparison of match ups

    For example in fighting games character comparisons are made by a 10 point scale

    5/5 is equal

    9-1 means you have almost no chance of winning under any circumstances

    The ideal balance for planetside would be a 4/6 ratio (Maybe 3/7) for things but no more

    Aside from obvious mismatches such as Cloaker Vs tank which will be 9-1 at best but usually 10-0

    I'm just pointing out the inconsistencies in your agenda. Because lets be honest.. this is an agenda, a personal one against a group of players. Not a seek for balance. The Valkyrie is the least effective vehicle in the game. Its only strong in minor little squad tactics that either work somewhat or fail terribly.

    In this case someone's tank got blown up. And its not that you feel the Valk is OP. No the agenda from you is to try and take away the toy away from your opponent. Maybe by stirring up sympathy from an anti-C4 crowd. Not working, even those who hate C4 aren't going to get on a nerf-Valk bandwagon.

    You're going to have to accept that the outfits using this tactic are going to keep their toys. And take this advice.. knock off the personal attacks towards those who disagree with you. It doesn't help you. It does the opposite.

    Not if the ESF is packing engies and/or heavies. Engies repair what damage you do, heavies will just rek with lock-ons.

    In case of OP, It had Engies. 4 Engies with level 1 repair tools out-do the damage from a lone stock ESF.

    It costs 100 certs in order to even attempt pull this tactic off. If something has to be purchased via DBC or Certs, it's not 'designed' for that role, let alone promoting it.

    The Lightning was 'designed' to be a medium tank; faster but weaker than their MBT brothers. It was not designed to be a mobile Flak platform.

    Yet, both the Valkyrie and Lightning have these options, for the respective vehicle, mind. For 'design' you gotta think stock, what people will have access to from the word 'go.'

    I see it more of a 'Buff AA' thread, but that's because it's needed.

    As stated earlier, that extra few degrees of aiming for ALL vehicle-based AA Weapons (meaning not including Burster MAXes) would go a long way very quickly.
