For the last month, I've been playing solo. I've grown tired of the incompetent NC platoons that pretend they know what they are doing, when in reality they are just a zerg that continues to stay together after the base flips. The strategy of these platoons consists of setting a platoon waypoint, instructing all squad leaders to set their squad waypoints over the platoon waypoint (which is completely useless and redundant, but that's another story for another time), and then informing everyone "go here and capture this base" via platoon chat. That's where it ends, and once they get to the base, they don't discuss on what tactics they should use, but instead only give the occasional command to do obvious things like "repair that generator" or "get another Sunderer up". They attempt to talk in a militaristic dialect in order to sound more professional, but instead they come across as awkward and slightly confused. They spend most of their time saying useless filler sentences that don't actually have any importance over platoon chat, while telling people who have legitimate concerns and important information to keep the platoon chat clean and use platoon text chat instead, which usually results in them being completely ignored. They have a tendency to send multiple squads (and often the whole platoon) to capture an empty base, wasting enormous amounts of manpower to do something a single ghostcapper could have done. They tend to be rather cowardice, and often suggest that the platoon abandon a continent and all the work they've done to try and take it for no reason other than the faction that possesses the continent showed up to defend it and the NC have a 1% population disadvantage. Squad leaders are chosen based on how many certs they've invested into their spawn beacon, rather than their aptitude to competently lead a squad in any meaningful way. This results in the platoon leader doing all of the leading, and the squad leader has no job other than to set their squad waypoint over the platoon waypoint and place a beacon when they get there. When people question a particularly questionable order given by the platoon leader, they are told to stop complaining and to mindlessly follow the order. On rare occasions I come across a platoon/squad that actually has some form of respectable leadership, but those are in the minority. -- The reason I made this thread is because I'm getting tired of playing solo. At first playing solo was a relief from trying to participate in "organized" gameplay, but after a while it begins to grow old. I'm starting to lose interest in the game, and I'm not able to play it for the length of time that I used to, not because the game is getting boring but because doing everything alone is meaningless and stale. I've been invited to several different outfits, and I've actually joined many of them, but they didn't really seem to operate differently from the platoons I described earlier. The only real difference was that there was more people involved. While many of you may have had completely different experiences from what I described above, this is what I have personally experienced. I'm not saying what I said is true for everyone, but it is true for me. I own every weapon in the game, and I'm pretty balanced in terms of what class I play. I don't have any specific main class (unlike many people I see who spend more than 90% of their time as a single class), however most of my time is spent between LA/HA. The MAX is my favorite class to play. I have invested a decent amount of certs into vehicles. I say these things to illustrate that I'm flexible and I can probably do any task you need me to. https://players.planetside2.com/#!/5428031585333657441 I don't want to continue playing solo, but I also do not want to go back to being a mindless drone for zergfits. If there is an NC outfit on Waterson that does not behave like I described above, I'd love to join you. @SOE: I would have posted this in the Outfit Recruiting section, but I didn't feel like that was the right section since it is about recruiting. Sorry if this wasn't the right place for this, move the thread there if you need to.
Septem Pro Vita may be a breath of fresh air from what you're describing in your post. I invite you to check us out at http://septemprovita.enjin.com/recruits and see if what we might be what you're looking for.
Maybe you could try the Phoenix Battalion. I'm not entirely sure how they operate, but the guys in TRAF seem to like them... and if a TR outfit likes them they're probably pretty good.
Hey Laraso. I don't know if you've tried Phoenix Battalion yet, if you haven't you should at least give us a try. As Synapse said we are respected even by our adversaries. We have begun training our squad leaders as well to alieveate the concerns you posted. You can check out the general idea of how we have our SL's operate here. http://phoenixbattalion.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9172646&gid=93583 Granted no one or thing is perfect and we aren't always on our A game but I can say our SL's have been doing a great job overall as of late and I've seen a difference because of it. If you would like to join throw me on your friends list and I'll get you an invite. A shout out to you guys in [TRAF] Synapse. You guys have PHX's respect.
Lots to chose from. I am from H4TZ but I am not here to push you to them. I am here to say that with the big outfits: PHX, DVS, DREV, etc. Have lots of leaders. There are good ones who lead really well and ones who do like you described. I would go with a small outfit with a good group of people who are normally on. Leaders who are good that I have found: Snake00223nc Work Bseagull Javalina And others that I cant remeber. I have rolled with all on Waterson NC and I enjoy those squads. If you want H4TZ is normally running squads and I can get you an invite if you want. But the best may to either have friends join or find a small but good group of people to play with. Good luck and good hunting! Kyle
My advice to you is to play with a few outfits before joining one. However, if you're a skilled player with the right attitude, DVS is here... baby.
