LMG for CQB?

I normally use the TMG-50. It is my FAVORITE gun. Great for medium to long range. It is 'average' in CQB, however. I am looking for something that can fit the CQB role. I have tried the default T9 Carv and actually it is very good in CQB but I want to hear what you guys think.

There's no good LMG for CQ. Even the MSW's advanced laser doesn't bring the weapons into a place where hipfire and mobility are better than sitting in ADS. An exception would be the NS-15M with an x0.75 modifier on ADS movement but, even then, you're still a target. If you know you're going into a CQ fight, kit a shottie or SMG. It's a decent practice that'll carry across all your classes.

The CARV is great, but it's best when you ADS it.
The MSW-R is like CARV with smaller mag but better hipfire and it can fit an adv laser sight, so I think that's your best option. (Plus it's cheap)

SMG's are pretty good on heavies, but the thing about using a CQC LMG instead of SMG is that you have a greater effective range and more damage pr clip. Plus, LMGs sound cooler.

MSW-R have smaller mags than carv, but slower reload, betters COFs, better attachements.
Personally, i find the carv pretty meh, while i love the MSW-R!

TMG-50 is a medium-long range LMG. The T9-CARV and MSW-R are best for CQC as TR because of their 750 RPM, and even then they aren't bad at medium range+ once you get a foregrip on them. Personally I prefer the MSW-R over the T9 because of soft point ammo and the faster reload.

Not to mention the advanced laser sight, which is something the Vanu Orion doesn't have. Personally I feel that the MSW-R is better than the Orion even, but that is probably more personal preference. On my Vanu heavy I use the Nova shotgun for close range and room breaching over the Orion. On my TR heavy I use the MSW-R for every situation and just try to avoid long range combat altogether although that might change if I can get my hands on a TMG-50.

Our Adv. Laser Sight LMG is the Polaris. That thing has a serious identity crisis.

OP, I'd go with whatever you like the feel of. To the VR with you!

Good god the polaris, I medaled my lasher and got the polaris when it was on sale. Tried it once, put it away for ever.

The polaris is the ONLY Vanu LMG I don't have. I want to get it though, despite its quirks a lot of players in my outfit swear by it.

    NS-15M if you're not VS.

Orion or SVA-88 if you are.

Those 3 LMGs give a 50% ADS strafe speed bonus compared to every other LMG.

Ive never played Vanu, sup with the Polaris?

I usually die to the VS54, Ursa or Flare.

MSW-R with advanced laser sight, 1x reflex, spa.

It's basically our best choice in cqc. Good dps, good hipfire, fast reload and cheap as dirt... Also, it maintains its effectiveness much farther than any shotgun or SMG, making it the best for fights where you're going back and forth between outside and inside, or where you are at more than 15 meters from the enemy.

From experience i would say that if you can kill more then 3 guys in a row without dying: go with the Carv.

The 50 mag MSW-R is a fantastic gun, but that 100 mag will get you 4-5 kills before you run out of ammo. Enough to clear a room after you concussion nade'd it.

The slower reload speed isnt that big of a problem especially if you play in an outfit or got friends that can cover you.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Big mag > fast reload. Even more so since TR has the repeater, which in conjunction with your shield can take down a guy from full health if it comes to that.
  17. IronTyrant

my close range for the TR is the MSW-R, i find its rate of fire and hip fire to be very good in close range and up to about 30m with a forward grip. here my review for it

The Polaris only fires at 652 RPM, so even tho it has access to the Adv Laser it's still inferior to the Orion and SVA-88 in CQC due to the later weapons' higher RoF (750 and 698RPM, respectively). The Orion and SVA-88 also both have that sweet .75x ADS movement multiplier so they're better medium range weapons as well, making them more versatile.

The Polaris isn't really bad. There are just better options out there.

Pretty much my thoughts. The MSW-R vs CARV question is the same one you ask when choosing between the Orion and SVA-88. If you're only going to go up against 1-3 enemies, use the MSW-R/Orion. If you're going to be fighting any more you may not have time to reload after the first couple of kills so you'll need the bigger mag that the CARV/SVA-88 gives you...

Rhino for support, MSW-R too but for push.

MSW-R if you expect to be in CQC but still need to shoot things further then about 10m away. Otherwise, without a doubt a shotgun. I'd only ever use an SMG on a heavy if I knew I wouldn't want to shoot outside of CQC but would be too far away to use a shotgun (not really sure when that would be the case - the window for a SMG to outperform the shotgun on longer range and the MSW-R on CQC is very small).
