Little Red Shield Thing?

I don't know when it appears, or why, or what it's even for. Sometimes a tiny red shield thing appears on my HUD, and it makes a buzzing sound when it appears.
I don't know where I'd find an image for it, but it looks like this;
The actual thing is actually transparent(minus the red parts). The actual thing is very small, about the size of this letter H
Does anybody know what this is? It's been bugging me a lot.

It means that the enemy you shot resisted the damage in some way. For example, if they're using nanoweave armour shooting them with small arms will get the symbol to pop up.

I have no idea.

They can appear regardless if you are doing something or not.

I'm guessing it's some sort of bug.

There was nothing about it in any patch notes I've seen.

Yep, I have it too. Maybe it's somehow related to implant energy? Or SCU losing its shields?

I don't remember who said it, but i think it means that someone resisted something (like a flash, conc, or emp grenade) in your area.

I wonder if the briggs players ever get that.

Yes exactly.

When you see a crossed out shield icon appear it means that a player character in render distance resisted a conc, emp or flash bang. Render distance is typically 300m. It doesn't matter who threw the grenade or who resisted it.

So can I roll around with clear vision and troll people in range of me by making this icon pop up? Or does it not work that way.

Well, if you spam grenades on yourself, yes.

Why is it needed? Do I care that some random guy didn't get concussed somewhere in my area? I hear and see this thing a ton, it's actually kind of annoying, like a constant error message.
