I think every class in this game thinks they are self entitled to one thing or another......
Carbines are intended for hipfire within 10-20 meters, TR carbines in particular.
They can, but you can turn off the laser with L; it doesn't need to be on for you to get the benefit.
This. This right here. This is how you use LAs in squad-based combat. Every army throughout history has had cavalry/outriders who are used to screen flanks, scout approaches and play rearguard. That's exactly the role that LAs play in PS2. With so much mobility they become an extremely valuable piece of tactical squadplay so long as they are used *correctly*. Being a "cavalry piece" you never send them to absorb the brunt of an assault front. Instead, you coordinate them with the HA (a veritable hoplite phalanx of heavily armed/armored shock troopers) so you can attack the enemy on 2 or 3 fronts at once.
