Liberator REALLY OP now

I don't own the AV turret, that didn't stop me from immediately recognizing how OP it is. Same thing with ESF's that used to have a 1.5 second TTK against MBT's.

You should use them though. You need to understand both sides or you could just be getting mad because something killed you.

If you want to talk about something with all the information understanding both sides of the battle is important.

    Example
Most people who get cry about C4 have never used it.

As before the update, there will be very few composite libs flying (people might try it out...but it wont stick).

Why? Because auto repair is always better. Fire suppression isn't AWFUL now...and you can rely on it for some measurable healing. But it's still not enough with the good lib crews to warrant replacing auto repair with composite armor.

You'll see people trying it, or you'll see people flying with it for kicks...but it won't be the main lib loadout.

Have they fixed the hot seat abuse for things like FS ? If not then they should , it might make them a lot more balanced ..

    I beg to differ.

That **** aint easy. I hit a Lib 3x with an AP round, I damn sure deserve that kill.

Notice how in one clip, the Lib is getting hammered by a Skyguard and gives zero *****. Continues to shoot at me instead, and is back before I can get my tank back out. And guess what? He still escaped! With a Skyguard AND an AP Lightning pounding him.

Normally, but if something is blatantly and obviously broken and in the case of the AV turret there are also numerous videos showing a person using it and being OP then it wasn't needed. Same thing with the Phoenix Launcher OHKing infantry, I don't own a Phoenix, but experiencing them in game was apparent they were not working as a proper AV weapon.

Your example depends on your definition of "crying". As people get on my case for wanting C4 to do directional damage and not landing on the ground infont of me, nicking my front armor, and Instagibbing me.

I am actually fine with them reducing the damage output in exchange for the increased survivability. The issue Libs had is they were big slow vehicles which excluded them from big fights. Increasing their DPS isn't so much what was needed as increasing their ability to take a punch. Composite seems like a good answer for this as it helps them get into rendering range at least for a short while before needing to scamper off for repairs. Without auto-repair they will still spend a LOT of time out of the fight - which is better than zero time in the fight.

Libs are a 3/3 vehicle. I wouldn't object for a resource cost increase to go with their improved survivability. People are hating on Liberator buffs just because they don't want to be on the receiving end, not because they really have spent time in them and have any idea how hard it can be to fly one near large battles.

What people should be complaining more about is that it is even now more of a menace in small fights or on slow continents.

Also, unlike an AV turret - the answer to a Liberator can be another Liberator. If a liberator is hovering over a fight, it is begging to get tankbustered. An AV turret isn't a vehicle, it is just an infantry weapon - so the comparison isn't quite the same. And yes, the AV turret is kind of a terrible answer to tank spam.

Last year, I spent several hundred dollars on PS2, if not $1000 on weapons for every faction, every class, and every vehicle, etc.

Because of this Liberator update. I refuse to spend another dollar until its fixed or AA is balanced against them.

That's how I will make my point known to SOE.

Yeah, except a if a 150mm shell hit an A10, it wouldnt lose a wing, it would lose its entire being and explode in a fiery ball of death.

And by lose a wing, im sure it doesnt literally mean the entire wing. It can maybe lose portion of it, or fly with severe damage....but yeah. It wouldnt survive a 150mm shot to it. AP round hit it, would prolly split the thing in half. a 150mm Flak round hit it direct would blow it to bits entirely. Aircraft dont take damage well. Messes up their aerodynamics and flight and crap.

Would be cool in this game if they added little damage things to vehicles. Like at 50% damage a Liberator loses 20% speed, weapon reload slows down and stuff. When its at like 25% from death it constantly loses altitude, making it much harder to keep airborne.

On a tank, it takes a certain amount of damage it to loses engine power and traverse speed of the hull and turret...stuff like that.

Yes, something that are crazy OP, But something also just seem OP because you haven't used them and don't see their weakness.

If you used C4, you would know that C4 doesn't stick to tanks very well. Even if you drop it right on top or on the side it lags and falls off and does lots of crazy things especially if the tank is in motion. That is why if it's close to you you die when it goes off.

3rd person mode also lets then tank driver react to a perfect ambush even if you land right on the back of the tank.

MBT's are a 2/2 vehicle, and who would want to be on the receiving end of a fast moving vehicle which can take 8 tank shells and have a ridiculous TTK against said tank as a 1/3 Liberator. I know liberators die to flak and AA launchers fast in big battles, but you buff the resistance to that and not increase the resistance to tanks (which are not a major threat to a decent pilot) by over double.

I would say give it a few Weeks of playtime for people to adjust playstyles then revisit the topic

IRL MLG? That actually sounds like a good idea

I think it's maybe less about the dmg out put ( I'm sure some people will disagree ) and more that some of their main weapons are to versatile at targeting both AV and AI ..

I know they tried a bit in this patch but they need to go further in making it a conscious player choice as whether they are good for armour or good for infantry .. Not good versus both with the same weapon. Pretty much the same problem with had with Rocket pods being good versus everything ..
  15. EliteEskimo

I'm talking about the AV turret being crazy OP, I'm also talking about the liberator composite armor certification being OP and liberators pilots have agreed it's not right.

I don't have to use C4 to know I get targeted by people who use it against me. I know people can easily get around my situational awareness by coming from above. A tank which is engaging another target will not be in 3rd person, and the perfect ambush with C4 comes from a LA from above which is hard to counter and even proximity radar won't save you from that. That being said I don't think C4 is OP, but I think the mechanics should be changed so you have to drop the C4 behind the MBT where it's weak to kill it by your self when it's on full health.

Time to send out Lib-hunting squads.

    So much delicious exp...
  17. LT_Latency

You are suppose to be able to get killed by things. If some used tools to get to you. You go boom.

Not every thing is based in realism.

A tank should be blown to scrap by a RPG hit to the side or back but videos are video games. C4 is a weapon where you win if you get close to a tank for 4 seconds and don't get shot doing it.
  18. EliteEskimo

There is nothing in my post to suggest that I thought otherwise

Which is a response in terms of power, but not in terms of fun. In terms of designing items for a fun game, when you say "this is hard to deal with and hard to use" that doesn't balance out - it makes TWO strikes.

The ideal design for a game item is one where people say "this may not be that effective, but I use it anyway because it's so much fun!" Right? Think about that - it means the people playing it have fun AND it doesn't oppress gameplay for your opponents. That's important for game design. Only one side can win, but both need to have fun.

Now where does the Lib sit compared to that? It's overpowered at worst, suppressive at best. Infantry can't deal with it and tanks are at a disadvantage. And although I haven't tried yet, good pilots are telling me ESFs are outgunned now too. And yet it's still hard to maneuver and near worthless without a gunner. That's completely backwards from where we'd want it to be.

That's the thing isn't it? Not everyone flies aircraft, either becaus they suck (like I do) or becaus they disslike piloting (tottaly what I'm claiming the reason is). Most of us grunts on the ground can't most likely speak for the state of the overall Liberator balance, but what we -can- tell you is that from the perspective of a grunt on the ground the Liberator is horribly unbalanced.

We are not satisfied with our ability to fight them, as they are patheticaly anemic and aircraft can just eat the damage and kill you with impunity, or at the very best fly out of range or in cover to repair and be back at a moment's notice. And all the while you're locked up into a singular AA role, one that is very unrevarding and very unfun. We're not playing to struggle with aircraft, we're playing to kill dudes with guns, or kill tanks with tanks.

We have a point even if we -don't- fly Liberators, just like you have a point for the difficulties of flying them! Could we maybe stop with the finger-pointings and feces-flinging, huh? Or at least squarely direct it at SOE till they man up and rework the whole thing so there's an actual place and purpose for everything?
