Liberator REALLY OP now

How can you do any of those? It you are outside a spawn room you die. If you roll up in a Skyguard you are dead in two, don't bother trying to terminal at that base. You could bring a squad but they will kick you because you just got them all farmed.

They returned the instagiberator to action (not that it wasn't currently the giberator)

Sure am glad I just finished saving up for my bursters extended mags...

Also kind of ashamed that I've put it off this long.

Dalton to be turned into a no-splash shaped charge

Working as intended, AV is not AI

Zephyr to be changed into air burst and thus does zero damage to armor

Working as intended, AI is not AV

Actually, I'm going to take a moment to tell you that you are wrong:

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairchild_Republic_A-10_Thunderbolt_II

The liberators concept was based on the A10. The A10 happens to be (literally) a tank with wings. Believe it or not... The A10 can continue flying even after losing a wing.

Yes, I understand that reality doesn't have a place here, but a lib can't do its job when its a coin toss every time it flies lower than 300 metres. Composite is for the fights where things get crazy. It won't be as useful as NAR will be in most other situations. Also, have you never noticed that the liberator is as big as a tank? For all its size most of it could hypothetically be redundancy and armour.

And if that doesn't satisfy. Nanites man. Cause nanites.

    Yeah, no. Sorry.

4 Titan AP rounds just to kill one is unacceptable.

Yes that is true. PS2 has been going more and more RPS damage system so it would be right. Still waiting for infantry to survive tank mines, dalton and AP. Currently the game is in a brown mush between basing damage system on RPS and real life resemblance.

It's safe to say that the vast majority of players would be thrilled if Liberators were removed from the game. We've never liked these things nor the people who exploit them.

I think if SOE made a server where aircraft were disabled it would probably be full 24/7. Pilots are very much a minority playerbase and I think most people are tired of dealing with them and tired of SOE giving them favor.

I remember in an interview with the original lead developer of RO:OST he was asked why the game did not include aircraft and if he had any plans of adding any. He responding by saying that aircraft ruins the game-play experience for anyone that does not fly and they will never be added.

Because combining the best vehicle in the game with the best weapon ESFs have just make perfect ******* sense. And they don't even have to sacrifice the the all powerful tank buster and dalton. Now that's ******* grade A ****!!!!

Not saying that the Liberator is OP, but that's terrible logic. Its like saying the post nerf HE tanks were not OP because you could C4 them or shoot rockets at them. Just because something can be countered, doesn't mean its not OP.

It was actually my understanding that the Liberator was based off of the Russian Mi-24 Hind:

Both are gunships capable of staying on station and providing continuous fire support, unlike the A-10 which just does runs.

I mean if you just took off the wings of a Liberator and put a propeller on top, it would look very close to a Hind. It really looks nothing like an A-10 at all.

And the A-10 isn't as tough as you make it out to be. According to the very link you cited, it can only withstand hits from 23mm shells. Last I checked, 150mm was much larger than 23mm. I would imagine a 150mm anything at any point of the fuselage to completely obliterate an A-10.

AP rounds still hurt Libs with 25% damage a pop.

Zephyr, Bulldogs, and Rotaries are all FAR less effective vs MBT's than MBT main canon's are against Libs

    You'd never HIT an A-10 with a 150mm round.

Why do you think AA guns use smaller munitions? Because they can make them fly with a lot more velocity which is what you need for AA.

PS2 doesn't follow real world physics, 150ing an ESF or Lib is not that uncommon (and still OHK's the ESF)

When's the last time you've heard of an IRL Chopper even hit by a tank canon.... hmmmmmmm

    Ok then.
  15. Goden

Why are we comparing PS2 to real life.

That's like the last thing you should ever do.

Keep in mind that a 350+ resource vehicle with 3 guys in it should be a little hard to kill. Soloing a decent crew with an ESF should be out of the question considering the ratio of dudes/resources.

Also, if you fly around with composite you no longer have auto-repair which means that 3 man liberator crew has to constantly run behind friendly lines, land and repair. If you put an AP round or two into them they are going to be running smoking to repair with any ESF in the sky chasing them. There is no 'topping off your health' effect with autorepair, so every little scratch will add up over time unless they land regularly.

I am fine with increasing the libs ability to take some hits as for a while there it couldn't even get in render range of large fights without getting shredded to half-health. I wouldn't mind seeing its dps reduced vs infantry/tanks a little in exchange for this survivability.

Y'all might think this update is the end of the world, but I'm seeing hella more crappy lib pilots in the air lately and I'm in my skyguard like:

    Tanks cost 450.
Tanks are easier to kill than libs. (c4, rockets av mana turret, esfs, libs)
Tanks can't counter aircraft as easily (they can't really turn on their side and start shooting aircraft).

libs are tanks in the sky.
libs can counter everything, usually with one or two shots.
libs can only be shot down by other planes, or dedicated maxes, or skyguards (and by that I mean tickled enough to retreat away)
    libs cost 350.

why do they cost less than a tank, and be more destructive and game changing than a tank?

The best part about libs is the 4 or 5 that join the 25-48 zerg attacking a base with 2 defenders to make sure they never step foot from the spawn room.

Sometimes I really think the world would be a better place if everyone who played this game was not allowed to reproduce. Myself included.

Go spend some time in one and see how you feel about them. Looking at your stats you have only been in one for about 3 hours and your SPM doesn't show any kind of ownage. In fact, of all of your offensive vehicle stats it is the lowest.
