Yeah , same thing here . They told me to talk to my provider so they can sort things out. Im not realy sure it's from them, or something the new patches screwed up, cuz wasunt like that 2 months ago.
  6. AgentRed

It could be just level 3 and some ISP because when I was at my parents house for the weekend they use comcast with 15mbps I had no problem but When I use TWC 30mbps I have problems. I think It shouldn't be our job to tell our tell our ISP techs because that just gets us no where. SOE should get a record of peoples ISP from the people. Then talk with Level 3 and have them talk to the ISP companies. Right now I am getting throne back and forth between SOE tech and TWC tech. They are saying from TWC nothing is wrong with my connection and SOE are saying there is XD If this doen't get fix should I will not be spending anymore cash into this game/company.
  7. Napsterbater

Are your ******* kidding me , just stop you have no idea WTF you are talking about.

Routers not responding to ICMP have no baring on any kind of traffic passing through the router.
  8. Napsterbater

The game does not rely on DNS name to get server IP's.

The reason "amspsn-liv-gw04.planetside2.com" dosn't resollve is becuase its not setup as an A record on any server, NOBODY can resolve "amspsn-liv-gw04.planetside2.com" it doesn't exist, anywhere, wheter you add it in your host file or not has no baring on the game.
  9. Napsterbater

Actually it is you job to complain to your ISP.

If eveyone was having an issue it would be SOE's job to talk to their upstream providor/Level3, if some ISP's are having an issues its up to those ISP to make arrangement with their upstream providers/Level3.

Also note a lot of ISP have been squeezing Cogent/Level3 and others in order to squeeze Netflix, well if your ISP is squeezing Netflix via Level3 then it will affect your connection to SOE as well and is your ISP's fault.
  10. Napsterbater

See my post 2 post up.

No point in adding anything to the host file.
  11. Napsterbater

So you have basically narrowed it down to your ISP is what you are saying.
  12. taurangaNZ

thats weird because I played Planetside2 game on this Orcon Genius adsl router device all year... I even got to Level 65 using that Orcon Genius router? wtf, SOE.
  13. taurangaNZ

SOE you aren't being very helpful here.. you have to remember that it only stopped after you made an update to the game... what did you change! I am addicted to this game, else I wouldn't care and just go and play another game.. you probably are getting thousands of people turned away because of this issue, you just wouldn't know because they wouldn't complain, they just move on...

    this is mine:
    Ping statistics for lp.soe.com
    Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 100, (0% loss),
    Average = 146ms

    this is my ISP:
    Ping statistics for lp.soe.com
    Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 100, (0% loss),
    Average = 148ms

but still I get a Game Error G9. apparently according to SOE support its due to Level3 issues.
  14. taurangaNZ

time to crack open IDApro, Wireshark, RouteAdd and ARP, to solve this bugger ourselves... I guess its up to the gamer community to show SOE how to program their own net code properly, and how to not alienate specific routers or networking gear.
  15. Noktaj

Except that when you complain to you ISP (good luck with that) they say the problem is not on their machines so you can suck it up good. When you contact Level 3 they say the problem is not on their machines so you can suck it up even better. And when you complain with SOE they say they can do nothing about that and that you must contact you ISP. Bottom line: you can suck it up so hard there's nothing left to suck.

Every odd-week I'm back to 150-300 ms ping in EU. Every once in a while I've a grace period of couple of days. Than back to crap.
Only time I've decent ping is early morning / late night (I managed to get to 60ms only at 3am last night). Clearly there's some congested node on the route from my ISP and Level 3 machines. Every other game I play in EU I've 20 to 90 ms ping.
I've better ping on the f*cking Emerald.

Level 3 seems like a lousy company and for whatever reason can't handle SOE traffic in EU. I sincerely hope they won't chose them for future services.

I am having the issue in the USA and same with a lot of my outfit members so its not just the EU

Tier 1 support for ISP's almost always says its not thier fault, usually because they only read from a script if if you have basic connectivity your internet is working. Look at Netflix for a prime example, ISPs squeezed Level 3 and Cogent just to make Netflix look bad, and in doing that they slowed all traffic that used Level3 and/or Cogent because they wouldn't upgrade their links. And when people complained, oh its not us blame Netflix even though Netflix was in no way responsible or able to do anything except pay the ransom to the ISP for a direct connection.

Level 3 is one of the top ISP's/Backbone networks in the world. They are generally highly regarded by nearly everyone.

Also Level 3 generally won't talk to you because you are not a customer of theirs, you are a customer of their customer, they only will talk to their customer, Ie. your ISP or SOE, but they won't talk to SOE about an issue with your ISP's connection to them.

And again, If it was SOEs or Level 3s issue EVERYONE would be having issues, but not everyone is. My ISP is single homed and gets its transit from Cogent who is peered with Level 3, My traffic rides most of the way to SOE on Level 3 and guess what, I have zero issues with latency or lag. If the problem was Level 3 or SOE i'd more than likely have issues as well.
  18. dezusa

This thread should be closed as SoE cant fix this. ever o_O
  19. Noktaj

So, T1 ISP techs won't talk to T-over9000 ISP techs about ISP to Level 3 issues because they simply don't give a frak, and even if word about the issue would reach T-over9000 ISP techs they most likely just make a laugh because it would take to much effort to solve such kind of thing for a small number of customers (who gives a f*uck right?). Level 3 won't talk to me because I'm not a customer. SOE says they can't do jack because is not really their problem. What am I left to do?

Plus, you say it is not Level 3 issue, how comes then that every other thing I play have ZERO latency problem?
If I've ZERO problem with my ISP playing everything else but I've a problem playing with PS2 that makes it a ISP to Level 3 issue THUS a Level 3 issue . The fact that not everybody have this problem doesn't mean there isn't a problem.

    So nobody can/want do anything.
To answer my own question "what am I left to do?" Suck it up and don't play Planetside, that is (200+ ping, not really enjoyable). Sadly.
  20. Napsterbater

You just said "ISP to Level 3 issue THUS a Level 3 issue", expect it makes it YOUR ISP's issues with their connection to Level3 and their responsibility to get it fixed, either by putting the screws to Level3 or dropping them and using another ISP with a good connection to Level3, but also your ISP may have overloaded its connection to Level3 and won't upgraded it, or is punishing traffic to/from Level3 how is that Level3's fault. And as I said before a few ISP have been called out for dragging their feet on upgrading connections to Level3 (and others) in order to punish Netflix only problem is it affects more than just netflix, it affects everything going over Level3 from that ISP.

Remember you pay your ISP, show when you have a problem that is their issue you expect them to fix it.

Well your ISP pays (most likely, or peers which is less likely) Level3, if Level3 had an issues your ISP would be all over Level3, unless the issue with Level3 is your ISPs own doing, i.e. not paying for more transit or paying to upgrade links.

Never said there wasn't a problem, but there is just not a problem where you say it supposedly is.
