Let's be honest, the cloak is a joak.

I would say that the visibility of the Hunter cloak on *high* settings is about right for a long range/long duration cloak, and the low settings need to be tweaked to match.

The sound is definitely too loud at the moment.

The hell kind of game are you guys playing? Cloaked players do NOT look like that on my screen. They look like water, or like refraction caused by hot objects. Though, I'm running my game on high graphics. Besides, I find cloak to be extremely effective to get into position. I use cloak, run to an object I can hide behind, wait for recharge, and repeat until I'm flanking/behind the enemy in a position that is not easy to spot.... from there it's easy pickings

On twitter Higby said they are fixing Infiltrator cloak visibility on low settings.

    Here's my screenshot..

Can't see what the problem is to be honest

We are talking about visibility of cloak on LOW SETTINGS, med and high are fine the way they are. You playing your game on high does not affect how people that run the game on low setting see you when you are cloaked.

We're aware of this bug and the bug where players are sometimes completely invisible. We're working on them! :)

Thanks again for all of your feedback everyone.

wait... you mean that the change to the NV scope was a bug and is going to be reverted

that was the single best thing that has happened to the class in months!

Not sure about that. I will look into it and try to reply again later. I was referring to the issue I quoted and the issue with the cloakers sometimes being completely invisible (in general not in IRNV scopes).

Ah, well in case you didn't know exactly what we're referring to; on Low settings, viewing an Infiltrator through IRNV is the same whether they're cloaked or uncloaked, they always appear as if they were the latter. On Medium/High settings, the cloak shader is being applied as if you weren't viewing through IRNV at all, making Infiltrators much harder to see.

Neither is ideal frankly, I actually preferred the "shadow with faint outline" appearance we had before everything got borked(in IRNV that is, out of it the cloak is fairly weaksauce even when it's not bugged out).

This is true for the Hunter Cloaking. It is mainly meant for Snipers, since it's obviously terrible at close and medium range.

Infiltrators are not just snipers though, as you can tell by their Certs. They can hack as well, and use SMGs and Pistols. If they were only snipers, those Certs would probably not exist and they would not be using SMGs.

Basically, Infiltrator needs a CQC Cloaking type. One that is much harder to see or hear, but perhaps runs out much more quickly unless standing still or crouching.

I knew there was a reason I liked you the best out of them all, darling.

I don't like that Cloak is in the current state where it's really easily noticed with the large black outlines.

That Said I'm very opposed to any sort of full cloak on the Infil where he's impossible to see.
  13. Astraka

There are ways to make this sort of cloaking balanced & yet still effective. Don't be opposed to it before you've seen the possibilities.

Thank you for noticing us for a change ;) Infiltrators could use some love before LA for sure :)

The possibilities are it's incredibly annoying. With the current (non weird current version that I think is a bug) cloaking it's already pretty hard to see infils fairly close to you unless you're paying attention. I've gotten around occupied bases doing this. With the current Cloaking it's also very hard to counter snipe because unless you know exactly where he was, you're looking around swiftly and don't have time to closely check each area, often going over the person.

It's not overpowered in the current state, it's doing what it should. But with a full cloak you're talking about a one shot kill (with the right weapon) class that has the longest range in the game and would be immune to counter sniping (if they played their cards right) and could navigate bases easily.

Total cloaking is annoying. And the stupid concepts of things like "Well you can only move a little and it'll have to recharge, but you can stay perma cloaked" bug the hell out of me. All this results in are a bunch of people playing Infil slowly moving around a base for ten minutes and then dieing after accomplishing nothing or getting caught.

I do not want this mechanic in the game, it'd either be too strong or too weak depending on the limits put on it. It's better just to have semi cloaks (IE the normal non bugged version) Where you're unseeable to anyone not specifically looking for you (unless you're close to them and moving around). It's plenty useful and not frustrating to play against and not annoying to have on your team (xXXDark NinjaXxx sneaking aroudn trying to knife people and then just getting shot and killed over and over because he thinks his total cloak will some how let him be able to knife that heavy to death before the Heavy beats his face in).

Let's just agree to disagree. This thread isn't really the place for a full on discussion about it.
  17. Ganen

I don't think that people claiming that the cloak is not meant for close range, which is undeniable that the sound at close range is a limiting factor but the fact SOE lowered that very same sound, shows they want it used at closer ranges, or for going around in bases have any basis to be honest, I mean sure people have different opinions, but there is opinions and then there is intended game design, and clearly the infiltrator is not meant to be a long range sniper alone, hence his tools, his certs, his mechanics, hell even the class name.

I just don't think its a matter of opinion the cloak IS meant for close range and infiltration purposes.
personally I been having luck, I been flying mostly, but when I do run my usual infiltration missions I been getting people who don't play with low settings, since I haven't noticed any difference.
  18. Crewell

I appreciate SOE acknowledging there is an issue with low settings and cloak. Hopefully the scope part is not a bug, but there wasn't anything in the patch notes about that change.

Did anybody say the thread title in a Jamaican accent in their head? :)
