I don't want some arbitrary timer deciding if I should have to run from the spawn again because no medic could get to me in 30 secs. I want the option to accept a revive even if it takes a whole 45 seconds, or 60 seconds, or 90 seconds for one to get to me. TLDR don't interfere with my choice to wait on the battlefield for a revive if I think its to my or my side's advantage. Kthx.
But what if it's not a matter of time, but rather all of your blood/soul/electrolytes leaking out, making revival impractical from a physiological perspective? Wait a second. Are you asking to be allowed to come back as a zombie?
I like the idea of an extended timer. But there needs to be a timeout, nevertheless. There should only be a finite amount of time a medic can revive a dead person, otherwise, you really do come back as a zombie. Eew. Balance wise, I don't want to have to guard the dead body of a lonely cloaker because he is afk and I don't know if he is just waiting for his buddy to come revive him ... 10mins later.
It was done to curb necromancer squads filled with medics to some degree. Blame your fellow players for abusing the old timers. It wasn't uncommon to see players die and not revive, and then send a suicide medic with a grenade to spawn a miniature army out of thin air. It was a tactic I saw several outfits use.
I for one dont want to wipe out a platoon of people only to have to have to set up squads on guard duty for dead people because one medic could sneak by and revive a entire base. Infact anything above 45 seconds could end up being very hard to deal with. Once you add in Revive grenades and so on. Not unless they implement some sort of revive debuff so that you cant see straight or aim properly after being revived for a minute.
If the revive timer is extended, to say 45sec-1min, I like the idea that anyone can come along and deal a "coup de grace" to make revival impossible. Don't want to wait around for a necro-zombie squad? Headshot all the corpses to be sure.
oh you should have played on PTS when they showed the PS4 build at PAX. such sweet autorevives, console peasants got owned...
It was also for performance. Less bodies being rendered. 90% of dead players should not be revived. There is a reason they are dead. Too many heals means lower dps. Why do you think the VS have all those HA's and you hear some VS complain that they have too little medics? With the HA shield and the Orion 2-step. What is the mystery you cant unfold? Anyway.
Timer could be increased to 1min. But One could be revived only 2 times then forced respawn with almost immediate corpse disintegration.
Add a medic cam that track the nearest medic within 50 meters (so people won't always go to reinforcement pile after 10 sec) Add optionnal HUD for medic that improve position of all dead ally within 30 meters (no excuse when ally die on their foot) Keep the revive timer to 30 sec (don't need so much time with these 2 improvements) Waiting for medic problem fixed. Allow infantry to make body unrevivabe. (MAX and vehicle shouldn't) It should be a wanted action separate from the "kill action", with a medium duration and no xp-reward : people shouldn't be encourage to do that everytime, only when it's needed.
I personally like the introduction of the revive timer; but we could improve it. Perhaps add a Universal Utility Slot item, to compete with Medpacks and Regen packs, that allows a player to increase their own revive timer? 5 levels, each level adds - say- 10 seconds? Then on top of this, make a leadership cert that allows the squad leader to extend the revive duration of his squad. Say, 5 levels each adding 5 seconds. So, default a player has 20 seconds to be revived. They can cert into, and give up their medkit for, the ability to extend that to 70 seconds. If that same player was in a squad they could potentially have 95 seconds. I think a Minute and a Half is plenty long enough to wait for your medic on the battlefield. Could make it so you have to knife them on the ground. As the hit range is now, you have to crouch and look straight down to knife something at corpse level with quick knife, or equip your knife to do it from standing height. Both of these make you vulnerable to delicious enemy bullets. So you can only really do it when things are quiet.
