yeah especially when the light assaults are CQC specialists, the Razor GD-23 just doesn't cut it.

The NS-11c is a lot like the NS-15m, If you are not a headshot shooter, you will not like it.

Anyways.. I nominate the beamer as my least favorite LA weapon.
Favorite is by far the T5-AMC.

At risk of being mobbed by my fellow Vanu... the Solstice SF.

I don't like carbines. They don't have the quick efficiency of pump and semi-auto shotguns, the raw, "everything in front of me dies" firepower of the Pandora, nor the control and ammo capacity of the Sirius. As such, the idea of not only using a weapon type I don't like, but using an intentionally and admittedly weaker version strikes me as absolute insanity.

The attachments, meanwhile, are far too situational to balance out the loss of a primary. The UBGL hits with slightly more force than a flash grenade, and if I want to one-shot something, I get out my Phobos. The underbarrel shotgun is, again, outdone by my Phobos, and my sidearm is, quite frankly, a better bet at long ranges. The underbarrel smoke is nice, but smoke is only useful for tricking the enemy team into looking the other way, and I carry regular smoke grenades for that. I am entirely unable to understand how anyone can stand using the S-series weapons.
  4. FishMcCool

People only see the underbarrel tubes, but the S variants also gain access to compensator, HVA and SPA in exchange for the slightly worse stats. NC side at least, the Compact S isn't that bad an option for far-mid-range with comp/grip/HVA, or close-mid-range with laser/SPA.
  5. repairtool6

But the S-variants with HVA/Comp + underbarrel shotgun is just plain awsome.
I dont get why people dont get it?

Want something good at range but also the ability to insta-gib people at short range? Voila!
    Whats not to like?
  6. z1967

I was actually gearing towards making them 50-80m weapons with longer effective ranges but still some power up close for those who can aim. It is still a draft, but the idea is to make them completely separate weapons from the defaults that they share stats with. Focus is on making them range versatile at the cost of DPS. But yeah, simple recoil changes would fix it in the short run.
  7. repairtool6

Just my opinion but dont fix something that isnt broken.

The bursters are straight upgrades to the defaults and any 'problem' you have with them can be overcome just like learning any other weapon. There is nothing to 'fix' because there is no problem in the first place. Sorry, but just my opinion.

    In other words:
If you dont consitently perform BETTER with the bursters than the defaults in every concievable scenario (ie. at closerange, at midrange and at longrange) then this is 100% an l2P issue and not something else. They take a bit more patience/practice, that is all.

My quess you are not truly accustomed to the burst mechanic yet and fail to utilize the guns true potential. Practice practice practice :)

Sorry if sounding hostile but i really hope the devs dont change this guns
  8. z1967

Well, I usually gravitate to burst weapons which is why I end up using it the most. They straight upgrades, but the refire rate requires fast clicking and the recoil still feels a bit high for a burst weapon. Velocity is poor and HVA is not really all that useful (considering it compounds the problem. Meh, I feel like there could be something better done for this weapon and the the other burst weapons. A start would be much lower FRSM to basically put it on SABR levels of recoil.
  9. repairtool6

Hmmm but dont you see how simply lowering the frsm would make these guns insanely batsh*t overpowered?
Last time i saw (i admit -- a good time ago) they outperform most other weapons in those stat-charts.

In these forums they get a lot of hate, but in the game ppl DO use them, and those who use them perform really really well.

I just hope the devs dont change them too much

Default Solstice. Although, having UBSL on the Soltice SF was fun. That said however, my knowledge of carbines is pretty limited. So far I've only tried the Solstice, Solstice SF, Pulsar C, Mercenary, GD-23, Trac-5 and T5-AMC.

My favourite is probably the T5-AMC, but the Pulsar C and GD-23 are preety decent as well.
  11. Iridar51

Exactly. Burst carbines, to be effective, require the user to robotically click to achieve maximum rate of fire, and robotically compensate for uneven recoil, where each third shot kicks three times stronger.

Not only burst weapons lack a role, being practically a copy of the default weapons with less recoil, but they promote using macros. The proposed change is to:
    1) give burst weapons a better defined role
    2) make them easier to use
    3) take away advantages they receive if the player is using macros

Currently burst weapons are "automatic weapons, with which you need to click all the time for them to remain automatic". This is simply not a good design.

Setting FSRM to 1x will fix the uneven recoil and make burst weapons more competitive at range through accuracy, while still requiring the user to compensate for recoil.

Introducing artificial refire delay between bursts will ensure that weapon still has overall lower DPS than default weapons, and fires in actual bursts. RATATAT - PAUSE - RATATAT - PAUSE

Look…I don’t totally buy this. I understand your point, but imo you exaggerate. We all use and like the tx1 repeater? It gets crazy if you spam it like crazy, but in the end we all manage to tame it, and it is effective pistol when used appropriately. Burster carbines/ar’s work the same way mechanically, but are way more accurate and have way easier recoil. You don’t have to be ‘robotic’.
And anyway, we all burst with the other guns also right? You never fire more than 5-6 shots with any other guns anyway, so is not that big a deal you make it sound like.
    About 1) and 2):
Yes its true, they lack a ‘role’ since basically they are just better versions of the default weapons.
As such they are straight upgrades and should be used all the time by everyone. Fair point maybe.
To me they fill another kind of role: They are ‘different’. They work in slightly different way than other guns (more accurate). They are interesting and really rewarding. This is enough for me.
All other infantry guns work and handle more or less the same. The bursters require a slighty different approach.

    About 3)
I can understand you think it does, but I don’t think using Macros truly give advantage. Its hard to explain/describe this in words but basically : You need to learn how it handles to be good with it, not use macro. Do you think ppl use macro with the tx1 repeater? No, nobody does, because it dosent help and it is not really needed.
Imo if you introduce this delay and take away chain-bursting you destroy these weapons :/
They would feel wierd and off
  13. Iridar51

It is a definition of burst fire, is it not?

You obviously like the burst weapons, but I think you're the first one I saw say that. Most players agree that burst weapons are underpowered. What I'm proposing is not a nerf, but a redesign for better.

Then you clearly you've never seen a Light Assault that knows how to find a proper perch. For some reason it won't let me add a hyperlink and adding the pics themselves would clutter up this post badly so here are the links to some examples.

Other long range LA killing sprees I just happened to save in imgur.

I get similar killing sprees with my ranged LA on a daily basis. The trick is to know how to find good perches, to know how to pick your targets, and to know when to move or hide. Sprees like that can't be done in CQC.

Where you anywhere near anything that matters? Like a sundy, that you should've destroyed or a cap point you should've capped/protected? If yes, you're not doing anything useful.
  16. Mongychops

    Probably the Solstice SF.

Exact same damage model and RoF as the NS-11C, same attachment options (besides the launchers) but no 0.75x ADS. Just to emphasise how crazy it is, the NS-11C has a bigger magazine, but lower reload time, how did that happen?

Did you see the kill spree with all the crossbow kills? The reason I held my C4 so long was in the hopes that my teamates would damage their Sunderer which would let me fly in for the kill. When it became clear that wasn't happening I C4d a vanguard. Often I use my C4 to kill base turrets or AA maxes. By C4ing a flak turret at a tower and killing any engineers that goes near one of the AA turrets I can impact a base's AA a lot. Same thing for sunderer and tank repairing engies. Easy and valuable targets.

When I'm not near the above I usually focus on getting behind their sniper line and driving away their sniper and rocket support. That has a really big effect on the game and you can see players getting frustrated and leaving the battle for somewhere safer.

As for capture points. Why would I wait inside a capture point where I know they will be looking for me instead of hiding outside to kill oblivious enemies BEFORE they go inside? Waiting inside a predictable location is a good way to get killed without accomplishing anything.

I can't claim I'm solely responsible for winning 100+ man battles, but my allies sure seem to advance more quickly when the enemies can't field proper turret, sniper, and rocket support.
  18. Bankrotas

Personally for me it matters not at all.

Well it's your damn opinion. Redeploying and getting that sundy down for me with tank mines would be top priority.
The only question still remains though. Why the hell are you trying to validate your useless (IMO) playstyle to me? It neither sounds fun or useful to me. Fun/useful to you, sure, it can be. But that won't change my view on "long" range carbines, even though those are my best performing ones.
  19. Duban

The "See my crossbow kills" was an introduction to the next sentence. the reason I held onto my C4 until after i ran out of amo was because...

Any engie would be dead long before they arrived at a crowded Sunderer in a 48+/48+ battle. A LA can find a nice perch, wait until the sunderer is vulnerable, and move in for the killing blow in big fights. That's not something Engineers can do or you would never see a sunderer last more than 10 seconds in the field.

You said ranged LAs were useless as a fact while offering no backing evidence. I pointed out that the ranged carbines were quite useful, and showed examples of the T5 AMC being used to great effect. You attempted to dismiss me and directly asked me what I was accomplishing in a needlessly antagonistic way. I returned a reasonable and well thought out answer to the question YOU ASKED. Now you complain that I answered..

There's no need to get this antagonistic when someone disagrees with you. Look, I get it. You're what, 15? I said my share of **** on the internet at that age, but being antagonistic and attacking anyone who offers well thought out arguments that dispute your claims doesn't help anyone. "This is what you're missing and why you are wrong" is not instantly an attack on your character. Throwing insults and calling other people's playstyles "useless" in the face of well reasoned arguments only serve to make you look bad and annoy the people around you.

Calm down, think of the argument other people are making and at least be open to the possibility of being wrong. Respond constructively, and people will take your seriously. If what they say is really that bad/wrong/frustrating just walk away instead of getting angry. It'll be better for everyone that way.

Your weapon makes so little difference in cqc, "long range" carbines are the way to go.

Least favorite is quickly becoming the bandit. Close/mid hybrid with tons of traits such as high horizontal recoil and low velocity, along with extra damage drop, to make sure it is mediocre/bad from close to mid...
