Latice system has destroyed your game!

This game is now completely destroyed for small outfits. Our Outfit (BoTM) has prided itself on fighting smart, not hard. Now we are forced to fight hard and be just another derp soldier in the trenches rather than utilizing sneak tactics to get behind the enemy and cause real noticeable change in battle. We can not do this any more due to the funnelling effect these changes have caused. Our 50 Man outfit can not destroy enemy platoons fast enough any more due to the overwhelming zergs the enemy now are FORCED to use.

If you are attempting to make this game for people with little or no brain power you have succeeded. Big fights are fun. But what is more fun is doing more with less.

Please remove this 'feature' as it has destroyed the game for small - medium outfits. If you want large outfits to stop avoiding each other put a dirty great big complex in the middle of the map and make it give 1000 of each resource. That will draw the bees to the honey. But to force other peoples game play to join in this spam is flat out insulting to our intelligence levels. Change your games name to Honey Boo Boo as this is the audience you have attracted to your once great game.

I agree. the outfit I'm in is not a big outfit. we used to do strategic things as you mentioned, but now we can't do that anymore because the only thing we can do is to follow the big zergs and that's about it :(

I think the way forward will be a reversion to the hex - but a modified hex using suggestions already discussed on this board. Lattice will fail ultimately.

At least they specifically designed lattice so it could be removed easily and quickly. In that sense they are already prepared for the need to remove it.

    Lol at your comment sir!

Also i have no idea what you guys are talking about. This has made the game 10x better with the lattice. Backcapping and taking generators has been removed. Which from your post is what i think you are missing. Any tactics that were valid before the lattice are still valid now. Just there is a standard for the fight.

Move 12 organised guys to an objective and you can still take it. But come up with ideas outside of the box. If anything it has made the game harder for the point and click commanders out there. Tactics have never been more fun to do when you can see the major effect of them on the battlefield.

You can still find small fights aswell. Smaller outposts with walls give the possibility for smaller outfits to hold off more players easier.

Id like an example of a tactic that you used before that cannot be used now. Once i see a valid one. That was not game breaking itself, i will bend the knee.

In the mean time enjoy the lattice. Cause i really doubt it will be removed. Also the way Amerish was constructed with lanes really does lend itself to the lattice system.

Really don't understand you guys. The only thing lattice destroyed is the ability to ghostcap.

If you have a small outfit on team speak, you can do a ton of damage to a zerg. You can flank them, use coordinated launcher attacks against armor and air, blow up their sunderers by doing banzai attacks from unexpected directions. Don't wanna do the Biolab meatgrinder? How about you open up another avenue of attack? And so on. You don't have to rush headlong into the main fight with the rest of the zerg.
Also, I've noticed that there are usually at least one or two lattice links that are suited for small unit action, sometimes some of those even get ignored because everyone and their dog thinks they have to "follow the main line".

I couldn't have said it better myself!

The game was built for large groups of people to fight large groups of people in epic-sized battles. I did not build a PC and start playing this game to join an outfit of 40 or less people so I could go around doing nothing all day. There is nothing brainless about more people fighting more people, vs. less people fighting less people. There are still tactics involved. Even the tactics that YOU want are still present, you just have to go about them differently. Adapt.

It was not built for small groups of people to fight small groups of people in pint-sized battles. Nor was it built for small groups of people to go off and capture empty bases all day.

You can stay small all you like, but your place is behind/to the side of the larger groups. This can still be accomplished, you just have to play
    ;)

And yet the game is STILL around now with PS2 players LEAKING into it and them mentioning in the chat how PS1 is 101% better?#
    PS2 is dying.

If PS1 had its graphics engine updated it would take over this game in popularity in a heartbeat.

What i have noticed it that you can do more as a organized squad but near nothing when you are running solo, when running solo you get zerged or you zerging..

If the lattice destroyed your game, I can only assume your game was ghost blowing gens. My small outfit...we're doing better than ever cus we're not playing whack-a-mole chasing 1 or 2 guys around.

PS1 had the lattice and it worked beautifully. What's missing from PS2 is the ability for small outfits to go deep into enemy territory and take down generators at main bases, or severing its link by depleting NTU's. This created diversions, prevented empires from spawning tanks or capping bases on other continents. Spec Ops is a missing piece. The lattice isn't the problem - it's the missing ancilliary pieces.

So your saying you only ever play Indar?

Pretty sure Esamir and Amerish are enough for those who don't like the system.

PS2 would be great with them PS1 features but I doubt it will ever happen, we all know who PS2 caters for and thats not hardcore fps players its the casual cod player.

You don't have to capture a base to operate behind enemy lines.

So far I am not really seeing people using a huge amount of strategy with the lattice. The theory is though that smaller force can use defence in depth to ambush, slow and wear down a larger force by playing smartly in terms of falling back from base to base along a lattice path. That is real "smart" strategy based on reality.

Give it time gentlemen. I don't really care for things as they stand but it is a ever changing game so given time they will get it right, I'm sure.
As for the moment I have some suggestions for your small outfit. I am from a small outfit myself and we have found ways to contribute without engaging in the zerg.
We've been having alot of fun with Harrassers working in packs on the enemies flank. We look for their support vehicles and destroy them. We also set-up anti air traps. We roll around in our Harasser with this load out. Driver is a Engineer the gunner either a Medic or Heavy Assault and the rumble seat is a AA Max.
When we find a good spot we get out kill some ESF's then jump back in and move out, set-up somewhere else do it again. You can get alot of kills this way and it's alot of fun too.
But most importantly it can be done in small units and not be tied down to the zerg.

They aren't gonna remove Lattice, it's just the foundation for better things coming, trust me, PS1 had the Lattice and was awesome, if they finally add bases that are defendable, which means even smaller numbers can defend against bigger numbers and succeed, you will have your small squad gameplay again

also, just because the streets are now full of hexes doesnt mean you cant try flanking the enemy like people did before, work out new tactics, don't say a change is bad after ONE day, people will adapt, and i canÄt wait for LLUs (also known as capture-the-flag mode) or anything similar comes in, along with ANTs, which are really needed for the lattice to work as it is intended

Besides all of the points the people above me have pointed out, there is also the fact that, now that lattice is added, SOE will implement other things, like ANT runs, and other things for smaller amounts of players to do. Lattice is not the beginning of the end, it is the middle of the beginning of the development for PS2. It's just sad that SOE decided to listen to the past so long after release.
