Lancer and Lasher... Strange new trend, discovered I have!

I messed with the Lasher and the Jackhammer and i'd say theyre about even with each other in crapiness. I think of them as signature HA weps but seems the devs in this game just added em as a nostalgic after thought. All their pride is put into NS weps.

And you need to find better videos to support your argument. The Lasher sucks more balls than it fires from its barrel.

The Lasher is ok. As many have said, it needs a slight buff to direct-hit infantry damage, and no friendly fire from the splash damage (direct hits still count).

Do that and the Lasher would be perfect. I run Lasher/Lancer almost exclusively on my heavy, but always wish both of them had just a tiny bit more oomph.

Bit of a history lesson. PS1 had several versions of the Lasher. V1 sucked *** as the orbs moved slow enough to be dodge and only lashed on impact. V2 sped up the orbs so they were more difficult to dodge and made them lash while in flight. V3 slowed the orbs down a bit and slowed down the rate of the lash. PS2 Lasher V1 started off as a beam weapon which was horrendous. Now we're on V2 of the Lasher, which is really PS1 V1, which sucked ***. So why wouldn't V2 of the PS2 version also suck ***? It does. The situations it shines in are very limited and those same situations other weapons work just as well if not better. JH has the same issue in that it is still dwarfed by the other shotguns (of which there are way to many and way to powerful). The MCG, if they fix the spin up to either be a separate button (pre-spin-up while ADS or something) or shortened it, suffers from the same issue but to just a little less of a degree.

In short, there is barely any situation in which a Lasher will outperform any of the other VS LMGs significantly enough to make the user wish they were using that instead of, lets say, the Orion; and those situations in which it will outperform the other LMGs are extraordinarily few and the performance improvement isn't to great.

The Lasher needs: slightly faster traveling orbs, orbs which lash while in flight, VS to be GRIEF immune to the lash effect from the Lasher (meaning the user wont get any grief from lashes, but will with direct hits). THEN you'd have a sidegrade weapon.

Fair enough - I'd support all those changes. :)

Good video but still, the lasher sucks, the guy says that the lasher is good to camp teleporters, well, i say that 5 HA with ursas with extended magazines will do better, or 5 max with the cosmos, even 5 random classes with the automatic shotgun. The lasher is really god in a couple of situations, but other guns are as good in those situations and let you defend yourself and wont weapons lock you easily.

Lasher shoots sperm at the enemies. It's a fun gun, and since they nerfed resist shield from not stacking with flak armor it's a bit less horrible. Though go up against a medic or a heavy with max rank flak armor and you're still going to be very disadvantaged. It's definitely only an indoors weapon. Outdoors you add Light Assault to the list of unlikely kills.

Concussion grenade + lasher will make a max unit cry. Concussion grenade is so underused yet it is easily the best grenade in game.

Nothing like sniping stupid maxes with the Lancer though, You think you're going to fight in a max in open terrain there buddy? Nope, not gonna happen.

There are a few scenarios where the Lancer is bar none the absolutely AV weapon in game. It's only a matter of time when all of vanu has them that NC and TR will cry "NERF NERF NERF". It's the life of Vanu, we can't have nice things.

Yeah, I think it's be awesome if the the Lasher had an ROF increase (maybe a burst mode), or remove the friendly fire from it. Honestly, all of the HA special weapons could use some work. I think the Lasher's definitely the coolest though.

On the first point I'd suggest you're wrong. :p

And the Lasher's acknowledged means of deployment is spray and pray! Hence my pet name of the "Splasher"

You know the lasher needs some help when someone with a lancer taking normal potshots would take out someone with a lasher in a fight, and win 10/10. And that's not because the lancer is THAT good- it's because the lasher is..... well..
    xD

*At close range the lasher guy might manage to not get lanced and actually win, but...then again, he might not
    xD

I dont agree with this post at all. Yes one Lancer by itself isnt gonna change a battle but its more than enough to scare away sundies and tanks. Two HA's with Lancers is a deadly combo for armor brigades, let alone if they have an engie with them to resupply. And saying its hard to use makes no sense to me at all. You point shoot and if the target is in your scope you always hit it. If its really far off you have to lead a bit, but if your used to using a burst max its no different than that. Hell even ESF's have to be a little worried when they hover and rocket pod. I thought it was a weak weapon at first too until I started using it in game, and then soon realized how fast you can kill stuff.

False. While it's true that any weapon is better in groups than solo, there are weapons that scale much better with numbers than others in this game. The Lancer is a prime example. It's a decent weapon on its own, but when clustered together and directed effectively, the weapon gets exponentially more effective than any other launcher in the game.

Is the Lasher one of those weapons too? I don't have enough experience with it to tell.
  15. bodmans

it takes 2 lancers to effectively take down a MBT within decent time(if cover is pretty-much non-existent). but what the OP said it is only a beast when a lot of people use it(check out the vids my outfit made(prolly also part of the reason MAXes cant droppod anymore(sorry))). but compared to lock-on **** and spawn-room ownage its really bad.

the lasher is fine when not holding down fire at more than 30m
  16. SgtBreastroker

Someone doesn't know how to use the Lasher..
  17. MrK

OP is not VS and should reroll another empire asap.
    VS just never say that.

And actually, I've had a few (only a few, unfortunately) cases were lasher have been the saving tool, namely when facing too well entranched ennemies. 3 or 4 lashers using spam will remove key campers very efficiently, no other weapon can do that. Sustained splash damage has its uses.

At least, lasher don't copy/paste existing weapon in game like the JH does, ending up being totally useless.
  18. Gundem

Wow, the Lancer just got even worse. Now that MBT''s have the new resist type, the Lancer can hardly tickle tanks anymore.
  19. RomulusX

The Lasher is great! Looks like the dinosaur that spits from Jurassic Park!
  20. jiggu

Lasher is awesome in some situations, weak in others. We held a watchtower while waiting for another platoon's reinforcements by completely shutting down the stairways with a couple of lashers, was freaking incredible. But yeah the projectiles are slow and thus bad at medium-long range 1v1's and in general pretty bad in 1v1's. It shines at clearing rooms and the more lashers you have the more terrifying they become, that video sucked though, nobody in the entire platoon could use it properly.
