For those who don't know what a Krono is: https://www.everquest.com/krono Kronos are purchasable items for Everquest 1 and 2 that can be traded in either game for the ingame currency or for items. Once traded they become permanent to that game (can not be transfered to another game). Consuming a Krono allows a player to have All Access for a month and all perks associated with it (all games, including the 500 DBC). The idea here is to allow players to use Kronos in Planetside 2 and have a means of trading them to other players for Certs, Implants, or Both. This would be a great way for Veteran players to retain membership benefits by supplying others with certs that they themselves really have no more need for. And with the ability to trade implants, players can get high tier implants they just haven't been lucky enough to get (I kinda like the idea of trading implants you don't need for those you do). Concerns with this is someone could pay 18 bucks and get certs. But the great thing about it is the certs have to be earned by someone. They aren't just spawned by the system. Another concern is its RMT, but with Daybreak getting the proceeds, I don't see this being an issue. It helps keep the servers on. And just for an FYI for those being skeptical. Kronos already affect Planetside 2. My friend and I spent platinum in Everquest 1 and 2 to buy Kronos and used them for membership in PS2. Instead of us paying 14.99 for a month of membership, we paid someone platinum to spend 17.99 each for our memberships. We used plat we didn't need. For someone else to give Daybreak a little more money than a normal membership. A win win win situation. We got the membership we wanted, the players in EQ/EQ2 got the plat they wanted, and Daybreak got paid. But for many players, they only play PS2. Certs and Implants would facilitate the above for such players. This is a great way to support PS2 a bit more financially. Increase the value of the Krono in all of their games. And allow newer players to get an edge up if they spend a few bucks to make the trade.
While on the subject of benefits for "veteran" members. Im BR100 and unlocked everything. All i do nowdays is directives. And being a member doesent really provide anything at all for me anymore, so i unsubbed. What if being a member at BR100 provided something like double directive points? I would totally sub again. Either that, or just a booster that works for directive points instead of xp/resources.
I don't think I have anything against the idea in particular, but I can't see the PS2 team doing this. Basically everything is already available for straight cash. If I want the 'certs' to buy an Anchor, or a MCG, or a Parallax, or Rocket Pods I don't need to go through some BR100 as I can just buy direct. So the task you've put forth is to build a cert auction/trading system that could at best undercut their current item sale pricing. Your situation seems pretty unique. You're converting earned resources in EQ for resources in PS2. For a pure PS2 player, what's the upside? You're spending (presumably) thousands of certs for the benefit of membership, the main benefit of which is increased cert gain. Why not just keep your certs in the first place?
What if people actually had the morals to pay for the entertainment services they are provided on a regular basis. ''If its worth my time then its worth my money'' sort of thing. Wouldnt that be something to behold....
