"[] killed you." Hacker or bug?

I was just flying about in a Reaver, strafed a Prowler, and then as I was making my escape I kept taking small amounts of damage persistently and went from +75% health down to zero (exploded) in 10-15 seconds, and when I died it said I did the damage. I wasn't crashing into anything, and I wasn't getting shot. What's going on?

Sounds like your nanites realized they were in the shape of a Reaver and lost the will to exist.

Just a wild musing but does anyone know what happens when someone is killed by a player who is no longer online through latency?

No idea what happened with the reaver (poor thing seems buggy though; last time I flew a reaver I tried to enter the NC warpgate and it instantly blew up (from full health) the moment I touched the warpgate's... bubble?)

But you get the "[] killed you." message when the game thinks you committed suicide.

I think that's an abnormal death. Unrecognized suicide.

I drove my flash by a painfield on a spawn room and kept driving, it continued to take damage, I got off it well outside the painfield, and watched as the damage continued from nowhere until it exploded.
I have heard reports of this happening to ESF when flying low over spawn rooms.

If you were in a plane and this happened, it would consider it death by you with [ ] as the form of damage.
