I have a confession to make: I never ventured beyond the spawn room door. It is like a mother womb protecting her unborn child. I do not know what lies outside the spawn room door. All I know is that danger lurks outside the spawn room. Thus, I have remained in the spawn room since br1 till now. Safely killing enemies from behind the spawn room door is how I got my kdr.

I dont really think one should bother about high or low Kdr. Just enjoy the game...

I don't care about other people's KDR, only my own. I use it as a way of determining how well i've done in that session. If it's higher than my average, I've done well. If it's lower then I had a sucky session.

What I do think is important is score per minute (mine sucks as I moslty play HA). Generally, the higher the SPM the more the player has contributed in terms of heals/revives/repairs/kills/ammo/captures/defences etc.

I do fine for myself, and though I've pumped over a hundred bucks in this game over the last year I've never had a membership, so my score will be 2/3 of a player who does.

Out of all the 'important' stats whatever that means, it is the least telling. Aside from all that, Infiltrators tend to score less than engineers and medics. The scores you get aren't objectively balanced to reflect your impact.

Lastly, the scoring system has changed over half a dozen times since the game was released. SPM skyrocketed when they increased vehicle kill points from a flat 100, and now even score you for your damage dealt instead of a static score for assists... and then they added critical assists.

So good luck painting a clear picture using those numbers as a guide.

KDR doesn't really mean anything either. I use it as a personal yardstick but nothing else. You realize that a few months ago getting resurrected didn't clear the death off the ledger for you, right?

Try using something grounded like your reputation among your teammates, chemistry, and ability to pick wise fights and win as a formula for success.

Having a bad KD mostly means that you're a dedicated support player and in that case you're already extremely valuable and also kinda rare.
KD doesn't really mean much in a game like PS2.

Not all the time. Just because your a support player doesnt mean you cant kill as well. You should never rez people where you cant reach without dying, i can easily get at least a 2 k/d as a medic while still rezzing people. If you cant get at least a 1 k/d then you are not valuable at all...

Haha actually in my own defense I still tend to use the SVA or Flare while defending towers simply because I want the extra ammo to kill more people. I main the Orion otherwise.

    Awwww

    I think you're exaggerating a bit :p

Something to keep in mind, if you are using the DA stat site anything from a C- to a B falls within the "average" rating for all players. If we are talking about the pool of "good" infantry players and ignoring the unwashed masses it is likely to start at those with A ratings and those who go to A++ as you are already within the top 5% of all players with that. A++ to A* is the top 5 to top 1% of all players.

I can pull up my stats and see that ~5+ K/D usually sticks me at the top 0.025% of all players and a KPH of 55-60 will run you anywhere from A* to S rank depending on the weapon. (Average KPH of starter weapons is really low).

Realistically, your "good" infantry players are probably sitting around a 2.5 K/D with ~45-50KPH. Those with 5 + K/D and 120 + KPH are pretty much god tier or the highest of tiers.

So you don't care yet you have "many threads" about K/D ? That makes sense....

I come from the battlefield series, where you could measure your impact by subtracting your deaths from your kills at the end of the round. I kind of miss having that marker to tell me how well I'm doing, so now I try to make sure I'm playing with a solid KDR/KPH when I'm infantry.

Trying to judge other people by their stats or expecting people to respect you for yours is when things go south. Too easy to pad them to ridiculous numbers, too hard to tell who's legit and who isn't. The only constant I've found is that bad stats plus insistence that stats don't say anything usually means bad player.

And also, the K/D distribution is biased because in the first months of the game the API didn't track deaths with a weapon, so those that played at those first months and stopped playing would have ridiculously high KDs. So if you have an A in K/D, it's probably an M in reality.

I liked the part where you have a 3 to 6 K/D on Mattherson with your various alts and it jumps up to nearly 13 on Connery. Its like where Mattherson people go to kickback and farm.
  15. Liberty

That is funny because I never really knew (or thought to look into) why sometimes K/D gets stupidly high for certain weapons. I guess that would explain the 22 K/D with the MSW-R on my original TR Alt :D
  16. TheShrapnelKing

Please tell me this is sarcasm.

The number of people with a 5+ Infantry-on-Infantry KD is so low they barely exist. So basically, you're saying anyone who isn't the absolute best, is terrible? Does that seriously make sense to you?
  17. \m/SLAYER\m/

    yes, PTFO ruins KDR
  18. SharkSpider

I found at least 600 characters fitting this, and that's after limiting the search to ones with 5000 kills and BR50.

There's no way to make the numbers tell a consistent story here. 10 2 KD guys could be equal to 30 1 KD or they could be as effective as 5 1 KD guys because they're not in a tank.

How do you differentiate between these two, which still factoring in the players who are skygod aces who are also monsters to fight on the ground?

It's a useful statistic - but only individually and only comparing timeframes.

Maybe I should replace good with high-level or pro.
I'm talking about the best infantry players, they mostly have 5+ K/D.
    While the mid-skill players have 2-4 K/D.
